I Pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation [insert whatever you want],
Indivisible,
with Liberty
and Justice for all.

Evil fucking Republicans.

We all know it's Democrats who defend God. They're all over the media today...

I have a real problem with this ruling. They're focusing on one word, not the whole message.

That's how you tear down that which you hate. One brick at a time...

'over all' seems somewhat appropriate...

or perhaps

'blindly fucking with others'?

Actually, Jesse Jackson spoke at my sister-in-law's HS this past year in honor of Black History Month. At the end, he had everyone bow their heads for a word of prayer.

Apparently some people are allowed to lead school prayers...

At this point in time, the focus should be on strengthening. Not weakening.

I am pissed. I can't believe this shit. This was out in Califorina wasn't it? Land of the weird...

They took the under God part out long ago. The J. (I don't know how to spell that) Witnesses were excused, we understood they don't take oaths.

We are at war. All though you can't tell that here in America. Unless you have a loved one over there, or are in the military you don't think about it. And those judges go and do this shit.

Think it will stand? No. It can't. There are still enough Americans out there that feel patriotic from time to time.

I'd demand that every school day, K through 12 start with the pledge, minus the under God. I'd demand an American flag, at least 3' by 5' be in every class room. Tell me what is wrong with that?

I am sure many people would tell me what is wrong with it. But I don't give a good shit. There is no reason not to.

Show me a nation, country, empire, etc., that has lasted for more than a few hundred years. China doesn't count either. I count a dynastic change as the end of the empire. If history tells us anything it tells us that we are not going to be around as we are now, forever. Will there be anyone left who is willing to fight for this county if we keep taking peices of it away?

This is just more stupid crap... someone needs slapped upside the head.

That's not how you win elections. It has really come down to a naked grab for power and the illusion that a house divided against itself can not only stand, but withstand extensive remodling...

BRAVO!!! I couldn't have said it better myself. I despise politics and the maneuvering amongst those who hold the most power. What will it take for them to focus on what is really important?!?

the diff here is that it was not a school function per se'

oh hell who am I kidding..it was all about the Rev. ActionJackson. A man that strong arms companies into doing what he feels is right (does this not sound a tad like the maffia???). A man that can take taxpayer money under the guise of education and use it as a personal slush fund for his bitches. A man that for whatever reason has the IRS scared to audit his ass, even though his books have seemingly been cooked a tad.

I'd love to see our school teachers and administrators defy such a ruling and have the pledge recited INCLUDING the phrase "under God". Force the issue. Peaceful demonstration!

The ruling WILL NOT stand. Espeically since the U. S. Supreme Court has now begun to decide cases based on public opinion rather than law. Public opinion is strong on this one!

By the way, Sch00lteacher, you must remove the "By God" from your by-line. It's unconstitutional.

Exactly! We have become a people so obsessed with political correctness that we have forgotten to defend ourselves. Seems every other culture is allowed more freedom.

The floor is littered with egg-shells and I'm running out of room...

Actually, there was required attendance, so it actually was a school function.

Look, when I was a kid we had to say the pledege every morning and there was a flag in every classroom. We said under God, I went to a Catholic School, but there are a lot of schools that simply leave that phrase out and I like it that way.

Don't ditch the pledge, just remove the phrase. It wasn't part of the original anyway.

I know. I just added what I did because, since you brought it up, I DID think it was ironic that it was a required meeting (or whatever those assembly things are called in HS).
