OOC: Welcome to my dream. :) I ask that this first post be the only OOC in this thread. With Lit having the "easy" e-mail system for members, and the PM system, and of course my OOC Thread, there should be no OOCs necessary here. I do, however, encourage you to talk amongst yourselves in e-mail, PMs, or the OOC Thread to help keep communication open so this Role Play will flow more like a story. I ask that you do not kill, maim, or seriously ingure another RPer without talking to them first, privately, to set up the story line. Thank you. At this time, we still have no Ren (he's supposed to be the main character!), Bloth, or Konk. I will also mention, once again, that newly developed characters are indeed welcome. (Especially other females!) I do ask, however, that in the OOC Thread you describe your chatacter! Thank you. Have fun!

Narrator:
~The alien world of Mer is being devoured by Dark Water... Only the young Prince Ren can stop it-by finding the lost thirteen treasures of Rul. At his side is an unlikely, but loyal crew of Misfits; at his back the evil Pirate Lord Bloth, who will stop at nothing to get the treasures for himself. Bloth is not alone though. It's high adventure with the Pirates of Dark Water!~

Tula:

Tula cursed under her breath once Zoolie was out of sight and she was safely planted behind the bar. Why did he treat her like such a...such a girl? She was tough. She was a survivor. Spent her childhood virtually alone. After her parents dumped her off, the kind old tavern owner took her in as his own. Life above and in a pub toughened her. Taught her to grow up fast.

She could have handled that guy along the back of the tavern. Hell, she had handled guys like him in the past. But Zoolie kicked into parental mode as soon as he'd seen the brute grab for her wrist. He felt he had to protect the young woman he assumed responsibility of for the past 15 years of her life.

She didn't hate Zoolie, of course, but she resented that he still babied her. He, of all people, should have known how her life had hardened her. He, of all people, should have known she could hold her own inside the tavern.

Tula sighed a deep breath and began to wipe down the bar top with a damp rag, looking up on the occasion towards the back of the tavern.

(OOC: Obviously "unregistered" was me. I thought I was logged in when I began writing. Feel free to use this tavern scene as a way to begin to introduce your chatacter. I, too, shall add more. have fun!)

Niddler:

Niddler was a monkeybird. Standing shorter than any human, his body was roughly monkey-like, although his feet were talons and he had large wings and a beak. He was a grand red in color, with a white belly. His plummage was red, yellow, and orange. He stood about four feet tall, and had a ten foot wing span.

Like many monkeybirds, he was a slave. But Niddler was a slave to the evil pirate known as Bloth. Underfed, and very unhappy with the daily fear of his life, Niddler was releived when the chance came to escape.

And so he had leapt at the chance. Now, he was lost. Traveling through the city, he had to beware of the people. He was a monkeybird, and almost all of his species were slaves. He did not want to be a slave ever again. If only he could find someone to help...

He dodged into what he could only assume was a tavern, he carefully avoided the people there, looking around. Finally, he came up to the bar itself, and looked at the woman behind it. "Minga melons?"

Ahhh shit.
Zoolie picked up the frantic monkey bird, flapping his wings like crazy. He looked at the thing like a common rat that he had found.
"Come on, I'm trying to run a business. No riff raff unless your a paying customer."
He opened the back, looking at the down trotten alley. He was going to just kick the thing and think nothing more of it. He knew however, that he couldn't. His heart was just too kindly. Setting the thing down on some old crates he went back to the far kitchen and grabbed a couple of melons.
"You can have these, but please leave as soon as your finished."
Winking slightly, he closed the door, going back inside to the residents of the tavern.
Inside, there was an odd quiet. Some looked at him as if he were crazy or something. They had seen him take out the melons. Charity, especially among sub human species was never looked upon very well.
"Hey, how about a round on the house."
A cheer erupted as half the people moved to the front of the bar. However, it seemed charity towards alcohol was always welcomed.
"Tula, what are you doing, daydreaming? Get their ale ready."
He nodded his head in a half smile, looking at her like a proud father. Having her grow up right before his eyes, he was a proud father of her. She was exactly what he expected of her, and he knew she hated it. He didn't know how to make her any different though.
Can a sculpter suddenly paint perfectly? No, they sculpted, that's what they do.
He looked at Tula, that's all he could do. It was his best, but she wanted more. Soon enough, he guessed, she would find it.
Until that day came though, she was still on his payroll.
"Get a move on," he yelled to all of his employees, as the mugs of ale went flying off to the drunkards, yelling for their free ale.
Content, Zoolie went towards the back to finish cooking up some steaks for some of the patrons dinners.

Niddler

The monkeybird immediately began the quest to stuff his face with as much food as possible as quickly as he possibly could. He was unused to kindness, and had the sinking suspicion that it was all a trap of some sort.

It took only moments for him to shove the food down his thraot, and he licked the access juice from his beak before glancing around the alleyway.

Bloth would undoubtedly be searching for him. Niddler knew that he was likely not to survive the beating he'd get for this. With a flap of his wings, he went to the top of the building, where he looked around, hoping to spot a way to escape before he himself was spotted...

Tula:

After the last of the mugs had been refilled, and the shoremen, fishermen, and pirates alike returned to their crowded tavern tables and the far corners of the bar, Tula nodded at another bar maiden and gestured towards the back of the building. Without words being said, the other woman nodded back. She understood.

Tula made her way towards the back of the building, careful not to let Zoolie see her as she passed the kitchen. She opened the alley door a crack and stepped out into the decending twilight. A rush of cool air greeted her.

She whistled slightly as one might in search for a lost pet. "Here monkeybird, monkeybird, monkeybird," she called out after a moment. She looked behind a stack of crates and then the trash bins. He was no where in sight. "It's okay," she called out once more to the creature. "I won't hurt you. You're safe."

Shareen smiled as she passed the beer around. She felt something warm touch her ass, a bright smile crossed her face. Turning around, she saw the man who's hand was now squeeing her lightly.
"You are such a tease," he nearly grunted, his hand began running further down. Her smile was glued to her face, never changing.
"Oh, you big brute, stop that," he took the tray she was holding, and whalloped the man with it. A loud smack occured as the side of the tray hit the side of the man's face. Blood flew across the room.
His hand shot back out from under her dress like a snake. He quickly stood up, rubbing a red mark all across his cheek.
"Look's like some wench is going to learn a lesson in manners."
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him. She nearly screamed out, as his hot breath came down on her. It smelled as if something had died there.
Trying to escape his grasp, she only walked into the back wall. The man pushed himself up against her, sending pain shooting throughout her body. She cried out in pain and surprise.
"That's right," he said, blood in his mouth hitting her cheek, "You scream..."

"Zoolie!"
He turned from the dishing, his hands still covered in soap. One of his gopher kids was looking at him with a scared look over his face.
"Shareen's in trouble again."
He cursed. Why couldn't she just leave well enough alone. Someone probably gave her another innocent comment. She would have to learn how to behave if she was going to stay an employee to him.
"All right," his voice booming, as nearly everything stopped in the bar. In the far corner he saw the problem. Quickly Zoolie made his way over there.
"We have a problem here?"
The man, blood coming down the corner of his mouth looked at the girl with a hateful glance.
"She hit me for no reason."
He could hear her about to protest, but he shook his head. Not in front of the customers.
"I'm sorry about that. Here, the rest of your drinks tonight are on the house. They're coming out of her salary. Everything cool now?"
He paused a moment, before letting the frail woman go.
"Yeah... it's cool now."
He gave a reassuring nod.
"Shareen, get behind the bar for the rest of the night. Tell Tula to take the tables tonight. I also want you to come in early tomorrow, we're going to have a long talk."
With nothing else, he stepped back in the kitchen, finishing up the dishes.
Was it him, or had he not seen Tula when he was just out there?
She was probably just taking care of the trash or something. Not a big deal to worry over.
Shit.
Now he was worrying over it though. He would have to find her as soon as he finished the dishes, just to make sure she was safe. Being a father sometimes a real pain.

Tula:

"Hereeeeee monkeybird..." Tula called out into the rapidly growing darkness of the back alley. She had started her second round of turning over every item back there in her search. "I won't hurt you," she repeated herself. "I just want to talk to you."

Niddler

With a flap of his wings, the monkeybird descended back into the alley. She wasn't looking in his direction. He cocked his head to one side, and reached out a paw.

Ohhh,....soft....

Alac sat by the port market. peasants who didnt have the money to buy things would sometimes beg off the sailors. But Alac was here for a diffrent reason. He sang light hearted songs of heroics and happiness of true love and magic. but as he did he watched every ship take off. He was well protected by the ring of children who would gather to hear his tales and meanwhile he listened to any gossip he could hear. He waited ...for an answer to an old song... could there really be treasures that would free us of the accursed dark water... waters that robbed this world of anything they touched... his songs continued as did the tricks but he was watchful and mindfull..knowledge was his treasure, and as he shared it with the listening children he was collecting it as well. The Setting sun shined in his blue eyes and and he smiled as he made coins appear and dropped them for the children. He dusted himself off and went to get a meal and a drink. He tied back his long blond hair and sighed as he realized that another day was passing and the darkwater grew unchecked... would no hero rise ?

KONK

Kong had just removed his peg-leg was getting comfortable in his hammock and all the sudden he heard Bloth bellow for that monkeybird, Niddler. Konk knew whose name came next as he hurriedly replaced his leg and jumped to his feet. He was just in time to hear his name and head for the Captain's cabin. No telling what mood Bloth was in but it didn't seem happy...

Shareen sighed, moving elegantly behind the front bar. It wasn't her fault, she was defending herself. Stupid asshole.
Forgetting the entire incident, she began to pour out the drinks. One after another, a mug of ale to any person who called for it. She noticed that Tula hadn't come back. Had Zoolie noticed? She was out back, not sure exactly what she was doing. Shareen didn't bother asking about the specifics of anyone's life though. No one asked her, and she thought it best not to ask anyone else.
Pouring some more ale, she sighed and got ready for one of those long nights.

Alac

Alac smiled as he watched the commotion around him. With a practiced ease he meandered through the milling throngs of people coming and going. He stepped up to the tavern and took in the scene before him. He always liked sizing up a situation before he stepped into it.

Niddler

He poked her upper back a few more times, wondering at the soft material of her clothes. He opened his beak, letting out a small swak to get her attention.

Here she was, in the alley, calling for the monkeybird, and she was appearently ignoring him. He continued to twatch Tula, wondering if he should poke her again.

"Yes? More melons?"

Alac

Alac smiled at a monkey bird that seemed to be looking for more than just melons and strode into the tavern. He walked up to a quiet corner and looked to order a meal and some ale.

Alac

Alac surveyed the tavern, he was a dreamer and held hope in his heart that a hero would arise. He drank deeply of the ale and waited for the food.

Zoolie rose from the ground, picking up the mug that had fallen from the floor. He then looked at the man who had ordered the food.
"Sorry about the wait, it's been a very busy night. Here you go," He placed the plate down before him, steam still rising up from it.
Zoolie sighed, wondering where Tula was. She was way behind on everything.
"Shareen, have you seen Tula?"
He walked back to the bar, looking at her.
"Tula... she isn't out back again is she?"
In his mind he already cursed himself for letting her go unnoticed for so long. Before waiting for an answer from her, he walked out the back.
(Don't worry Tiggs, I'll let you post before I break it up)

Tula:

OOC: I had a great post yesterday, but then Lit went down and AOL kicked me offline. :( I lost it. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to it.

IC:
Tula jumped, startled, after the monkeybird tapped her. She whirled around fast, ready to strike a would-be attacker. She was surprised to see the monkeybird standing there, shaking. Quickly her face softened and her arms fell to her sides. She stared at the monkeybird with as much curiosity as his gaze showed her.

Slowly her arm lifted and her hand closed in on his face. The monkeybird flinched and took an awkward step back, but he did not stop Tula from touching him. Her skin was soft against his fur. Nothing like Bloth's hand. And she did not strike him. He was surprised. He figured that was how all humans treated his species.

A soft noise escaped past his beak. Almost like a purr.

Niddler

This was a lot better treatment than he was used to. Perhaps not all humans only wanted to force him into slave labor. But, with his limited experience, it could be a trap.

But, truely, if someone was going to be this nice to trap him, they couldn't be as bad as Bloth. He made a soft purring noise deep in his throat.

Today, he decided, was a very good day. Niddler moved a little closer to the human, and craned his neck, moving close. He didn't know what she was getting at, but he was happy just as he was.

Tula:

"Tell me, monkeybird," Tula began, "How did you happen to come here? Where's your master? Where's your flock?"

For many minutes the monkeybird just stared at her, unsure what to say. The fear began to come back into his eyes. He swore when he escaped that he would never go back to Bloth. Never! Now, at this mentioning of his master, he was scared.

Tula sensed the change in the creature. "Monkeybird," she started.

She was cut off before she could finish. "M...m...my name is N..niddler," the monkeybid almost whispered.

Tula stood in silence for a moment. It never occured to her that he would have a name, that he would pose simple human traits such as those. "Monk..." she began, but quickly corrected herself, "Niddler... Talk to me. I wish you no harm. You are safe now."

Niddler

He was frightened. No, he was terrified. What if she retruned him to Bloth? The pirate would surely beat him. Niddler wasn't sure he could survive one of Bloths beatings.

"My flock? On Pandowa, or...enslaved. I am here because I h-have...I have..." He wasn't sure if he could trust her. But she seemed nice. "I have escaped from my master. The piratelord, B-b-bloth..."

He looked up at her in fear. What would she do now? What should he do? Should he run? But she seemed so nice...

KONK

Konk approached Bloth's room and realized he was in a nasty mood. Konk remembered another bad mood mood when he was thrown to the constrictus, Konk suddered at the thought. No he would find Niddler himself and avoid Bloth's wrath. Then scurried down the hall his peg making it's distictive clopping sound. Konk grabbed two shipmates in case there was trouble,"Why risk my neck when others are available." Konk laughed to himself and started down the wharf. Slowly fingering his cleaver maybe there would be an accident. "Hurry you clods."

Zoolie kicked the back door fiercely, hauling two cans of trash out the back. At first he didn't notice the people out there, only dumping out the half eaten meals and broken mugs into the back alley. Then, all of a sudden he stopped, seeing what was going on.
"Oh, Tula. Come on, you can't be out here playing with pets. It's the busiest day of the week. People are pleading for drinks. Get a'goin."
Zoolie looked at the monkeybird carefully, "Are you lost or something, looking for your master?"
