Outgoing Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, who presided over the mid-term election debacle, says the GOP is not the party of big government.

Say what?

And how does Mehlman figure that the Republicans aren't the party of big government? I seem to remember that on the their watch, government has expanded faster and bigger than ever.

Republicans are not supposed to be the party of big government. And they're not supposed to be the party insinuating itself into people's lives. Unfortunately at this moment the Republican party doesn't stand for what it has always been known for. Now it's bigger government, massive invasions of privacy, legislation on personal private matters of citizens, and generally undermining the Constitution. I can't wait for the REAL Republicans to take the reigns back from the crackpots in charge of the party now.

Neither major party is a small government party right now.

Let us not forget for a moment that every person in the Senate and Congress is there because the voters put them there. More specifically, those who bothered to vote.

We are a Constitutional Republic here in the U.S.A. and in theory we send persons to represent and/or fulfill our wishes and desires to Washington.

We all want something from our elected representatives at one time or another and the more we get, the more we vote to keep them in office.

The short version is that Washington has become a wealth redistribution machine and that is the way the majority of us like it. This being reflected by who we elect or reelect.

To quote the old 'Pogo' comic strip: "We have met the enemy and he is us."

Peace.

*gasp*

A politician lying!!!

Oh... the inhumanity of it!

Lord, what depths have we sunk to!

What's next... feeding evolution believers to the lions!

mehlman acknowledges the truth, here:

Mehl//Because the Democrat Party sure won't do it. [reform, cut size]

They're the party of government.

They believe it has the answer to every question, the solution to every problem.

We Republicans don't believe that . . . but sometimes, over the last few years, we've behaved as if we do.
