The sky above them flashed the colors of the rainbow as they made their journey to the forgotten temple. The city behind them was burning. The smell of death was everywhere, but they could only think of one thing. They had to save the children.

They could hear the pounding of horses hooves behind them. They had to hurry...had to get to the temple before the King's men caught up with them. They ran, carrying the precious bundles with them.

A woman fell back from the others, and with a wave of her hand, sent trees falling in every direction, blocking the path. Then hurried to catch up with the others.

They crossed over the Silent Bridge and the temple finally stood before them. They opened the heavy wooden doors and walked inside. The main room was covered in cobwebs and dust. Plants had broken through the rock floor and were growing up the stone walls. The altar stood alone at the front of the room, untouched by dust. They moved towards it, laying each of the seven babies upon it. Four men and three women moved to stand in a circle around the babies. Each of them lifting a necklace from around their necks.

"When they find each other, they will receive their powers. But only the necklaces will bring them home."
A man completely clothed in white began chanting after speaking those words.

"You know that we can never leave this place now? Without our necklaces we can't open a portal to save ourselves."

"Our children are more important. They are the chosen ones. They will come back and free our people. It is written." The white robed man spoke again. "It is time. We must hold hands."

Hands grasped, they chanted the magic words. The altar glowed, the light almost blinding, and the babies disappeared.

OCC: I need at least two females and four males to be the grown up children. The story takes place 18 years later. The powers you get upon meeting another character are up to you. Other characters are welcome. Including people from the other Realm..... maybe sent by the King. Please include how you got there if you choose this option. In your opening posts... try to state what happened to you after you arrived on the Earth Realm. Were you adopted? Taken to an orphanage? Etc. :)

Anyone and Everyone is invited to join

IC(Leah.......1st female child)

I could feel Naomi's brush pulling softly through my golden strands of hair as I looked out across the fields. It was the height of summer and I was just 18. Like most of the children who had been raised in the orphanage I was anticipating leaving one day, to search for my uknown origins and make use of my healing powers which I discovered that I had just six years previous.

Naomi was younger than me and an orphan who had also been found abandoned on the city streets just weeks after her birth. There was a kinship between us, something that we developed over the years that made us inseperable. She was my first ever healing too.

The day she fell ill with the virus, that incurable disease that takes away so many children in this world, was the day I discovered my powers. I touched her and as if I was guided by some spirit I began to chant in some unknown language, and watched the disease wash from her infected system. The elders in the orphanage just passed it off as one of the day to day mysteries that always seems to happen.
But I knew that my powers meant something and one day I would find out for sure.

Erik's Tale

I moved through a series of foster homes growing up. I was never sick a day in my life, never broke a bone and the few times I got cut or scraped I healed fast.

Still, I always had the feeling that something was missing.
Three high school kids tried to steal the skateboard I got for my fourteenth birthday, and I put two in the hospital and one in the morgue. It was an accident really, he tried to stab me and I tripped him. I didn't make him fall on the knife. So I spent the next four years in juvenile.

Nothing to do there after curfew but read or work out. I read through the fifty books they had in about that many days. So the rest of the time I put on muscle, and worked at staying stretched and limber. The director kept having me tested for drugs, she swore I was getting steroids from somewhere.

I walked out last week after I turned eighteen. I'm 6'8" tall, 280 pounds of muscle, with black hair and blue eyes. I aced the high school equivalency last year, and pulled a perfect score on the SAT. Which they made me repeat with a proctor looking over my shoulder the whole time.

So I suppose I should go to college, probably State, they have open tryouts for football. I've got a few hundred dollars in the bank, enough for the bus ticket and to get a room while I'm there. It beats staying at the YMCA, or getting some kind of dead end job.

But something's still missing...

Meridian

I stood at the crest of the hill looking down upon a city. This place was still virtually primitive. Still relying upon machines and such to fly and travel. But what could one expect from mortals?

I had to find them soon. The king was getting angry...and if I didn't hurry it would be my head. It took ten human years to figure out how to open another portal. There were many from my realm here. Sent with one purpose. To kill the chosen ones.

I knew I had to be careful, they would probably have their powers now. They could probably sense me. But no matter, I would find a way to kill them.

Princess Meridian never failed.

My daddy wouldn't let me.

IC(Leah):

Soon the day came when Naomi and I left the orphanage. We were sent to a half-way house in the city to learn to live as ordinary citizens on the basic education we were given.

The place was full of teenagers and young people from all walks of life that had some form of deprived past; orphans, run-aways, juvenile delinquents in reform and worst of all the "dopehandlers", who seemed to rule the roost because of their power over the weakest amongst us.

Life in the city was bad and violent. Naomi and I had heard so much about it, but we were protected by the elders at the orphanage for so long that we did not realise how bad things had got between the authorities and the common people. Finding work was so hard and the only option open to both of us was to work for the "dopehandlers" in order to gain both money and protection.

Neither of us knew about prostitution or what it entailed. But very soon we found out as we were taken under the protective wing of Hardcoor, the appointed supervisor of our house. He controlled everything and everyone there and even other houses in the city. Naomi and I soon felt trapped in the system and became two of its victims from then on.

Tick tick tick, I glanced at the clock wondering why I never noticed just how loud it really was before. Groaning silently I chewed on the end of my pen staring at the paper in front of me. Sighing I throw down the pen and stand, gathering up my belongings, and slipping on my jacket. I was tired of tests, who knew that going back to school would be this hard. I had reasons for not going through with college when I finished high school too much family upset with my parent's divorce. I decided to work for a few years; found a job I loved, managing an herbal store on the outskirts of town.

I moved out of my parents house and got my own place, an apartment. I volunteer at an animal shelter in my spare time and on the weekends. I loved animals, and always seemed to be able to form a bond with even the meanest of the bunch. Then after a while, I decided to go back to school, so I took my savings and joined the college here in town. Just a couple classes a week and it worked out well with my work schedule.

"Ditching?" A girl nearby asked slightly smiling.

I glanced over at her and shrugged, “If I attempt to study anymore, my head will explode. I don’t think missing one study session will harm me!" I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, and threw my duffle bag over my shoulder. "See you at class on Monday." I smiled warmly then made my way out of the building.

Breathing in the fresh air I smile brightly at how gorgeous the day was. The campus park was busy; my pale eyes scanned the crowds stopping on a small family picnic at one of the benches. My smile faded a moment as I watched the tenderness between the children and their parents. It always amazed me at how some families looked as if they came from the movies. My family was nice, and I love them, but I was adopted and never felt as if I really did fit in.

Shaking my head to clear my thoughts, I almost ran into another student. Blushing I apologies, and step away, he winked at me and continued walking leaving me turning another shade of red. "You just have way too much on your mind these days Erin.” I said to myself grinning.

*He slipped silently through the dorm rooms, snatching up any inkling of cash, or valuables, He needed to pay tuiton, and this was one of the only ways he knew how to make money..Finally he had enough....after raiding 3 entire campuses...He had been an Orphan, sent to public schools while there, then By pure luck, got a Scholarship to one of the Top Engineering collages, It was unfortunately, only for three years..he needed one more year to get his bachelors, then he could FINALLY get a job, after depositing the full ammount at the front offiace, he hauled his leather bookbag over his shoulder, and walked out, looking over the same campus as Erin was, his eyes shading over seeing all of the familys and happy brothers and sisters, and sighed a little, life had never seen fit to deal him a good hand, so he delt with what he had, Finally he began walking, and this time, as he stared at a happy family, he ran into erin and was nearly thrown off his feet becase he was so distracted*

Oof!!

*he barely caught himself, only due to his catlike reflexes, he flipped back easily and landed safely on his feet, her however had fallen down, he offered her a hand*

You OK??

"Yeah, I think." I frowned, taking his hand and standing,"Geez, if I bump into one more person today..."I didnt finish my sentence as I looked up into his eyes.

"Oh, hi,"Blushing I smile brightly,"I'm Erin and I'm clumsy." I licked my lips and laughed, adjusting the strap of the dufflebag on my shoulder. My eyes look him over quickly and I took a step back, realizing I was face to face with him.

IC(Leah):

Naomi and I endured life in the city, surviving everything that was thrown at us. Soon we were no longer virgins and became experts in every kind of sexual perversion imaginable, but we stayed alive, that was, atleast I did.

For months we worked for Hardcoor and he paid us well, but Naomi had secretly become addicted to the dope. It was not long before I began to realise the changes in her moods and soon her health began to deteriorate. No matter how much I used my powers to put her straight, she continued to abuse herself, worked on customers for special jobs I would never even think about doing. Slowly I was loosing my best friend and realised that this city, this country was not for us and we had to leave somehow. The only thing to do was escape the authorities by illegally migrating. Things could be arranged for a price and a very dear one at that.

I stashed some of my hard earned cash away, for both Naomi and I. She was beyond encouraging to save with me because of her lifestyle and bad habits. I was put in contact with Marius, a member of the government who could arrange for passports and things inorder to get into another country and the country of my choice was the United States. Marius knew how popular it was and continued to up the price higher and higher for his services. "If you were to travel alone then you would have enough for me to arrange it today"
he told me. That would mean leaving Naomi behind and I had to get away soon. Hardcoor was threatening me with my life because I refused to do certain work for him. I had to think the way most citizens in my situation were forced to think. I was important and something deep inside me was telling me to go as soon as I could before it was too late.

On Campus

OOC: Eric's power, once he meets one of the others will be to summon a mystic sword and suit of armor with a thought. His size and general athletic capability are mostly in preparation for that, of course he'll need to learn to use the sword properly. Is Shawn really 6'7" Roland, or did you mean 6'? A master thief that tall would be pretty unusual.

IC:
I walked onto the Campus, and headed across to the stadium. I was glad to have reached the campus, not that anyone without a gun was likely to bother a guy my size. The low income immigrant housing between the bus station and the college was a real pit. Almost as bad as being back in Juvie.

I was almost there when two students collided on the walkway ahead of me. The girl was pretty, but there was something familiar about the guy too. A shiver went through me, and I almost stopped, but they were already talking to each other. I walked around them and headed on toward the stadium.

Meridian

I made my way down to the city. Not stopping for anything. Car horns blared as I crossed the street. I paid them no heed, I was too busy for that. I had to find a way to fit in. There had to be some place on this ridiculous realm that I could go and learn about these type of people. The more I acted like them, the more likely I was to find them.

IC(Leah):

I was forced to make my decision when I returned to the half-way house. Naomi had been "transferred" to another part of the city by Hardcoor. I cried when I read the message scrawled on her mirror. We had been together for so long, both of us spending our childhood under the protection of the elders only to end up in the chaos that passed for life in the real world. I packed up what I could in a duffel bag, all my precious belongings including the strange finger ring that was abandoned with me when I was found, tied around my neck by a loose cord which was still attached to it. That ring had no significant value it seemed other than being an artifact, that I knew.

I had to meet Marius on the other side of the city for a certain time or I would miss my flight. Time was against me as I struggled to hitch a lift into what was a closed area of the city frequented by the higher graded citizens. A walled community guarded from the outside by the special police. My pass got me through the gateway, not without me using my charms with the guard to convince him that I was a selected guest posing as a prostitute ordered by one of the community dignatories. Once through I found Marius and six others climbing into the helicopter. I just made it as I ran to be lifted aboard as the vehicle began to rise. That was it, I felt safe already. I looked back at the city and thought of Naomi. I would probably never see her again for the rest of my life. But now I was on my way to another country and a new future and following my instincts, I was going to discover my origins.
