Is if we have an America where you can be arrested just for having a gun. That works. This kind of thing does not happen in countries like Japan or the UK.

As with so many things if we just outlawed abortion and taught children that life, all life is precious and sacred, they would hold it dear and not take it so cheaply. So what? It's not a baby. CEOs deserve what they get. (Look at the treatment of the President and his Family; a thing(s), not a person).

It's a callous society and just trying to turn the good citizen to an outlaw is no way to do it.

Countries where abortion is more readily accepted than here, just as a medical procedure, without any moral dimension -- such as Japan -- also have lower murder rates than we have.

Even the island nations have gun violence problems and increased other violence...because it doesn't work.

Eliminating human rights doesn't resolve any violence issues.

Human rights are a thing, the USA respects them, stay mad about that.

Whoops! Is gun ownership considered a “human right”?

Shooting won't stop but we can limit the number of tragedies by banning assault rifles

"If women get to have basic health care, then we should have the right to shoot up schools" is a shitty hot take, AJ.

Even for you.

There are 400 million guns in private hands in the USA. There are 3 million in Australia and similar proportions in most European countries. The difference in magnitude is so great it is simply absurd to expect the US to adopt similar regulation. If tried it would only result in mass civil disobedience (from all shades of political opinion)

A supertax on ammo might work, but it would lose the next election for whoever tried it.

Our Gun laws work well in our country but definitely are not exportable. And just for clarity I am one of the rare Australians who does have guns (2), for dealing with feral animals and occasionally injured livestock.

All take note, because this always happens: When somebody proposes banning assault rifles, and you start quibbling over the definition of "assault rifle," that makes you the asshole.

Progress grinds to a halt. That's the idea

Self defense is, armament is a logical extension of that right.

It is what it is. You might not like basic human rights, most leftoids don't, but that doesn't make them not basic human rights.
There are plenty of free countries that have strict and effectual gun control. The UK is a free country. And the police don't carry guns because the crooks don't either.

Harden our schools like they do all other government buildings, works at those buildings huh? They just won't because the gun grabbers want children to be hurt, to try to remove the firearms. It's who ever made the "Gun free zone" seem like a great idea...... idiots.

  Nobody wants public schools to have entrance checkpoints with metal detectors. It's distasteful even to have cops on the premises.

No, they don't, that's the point.
"Our country" in my case is not the USA - hence your embarrassing error. :D Your failure to read with any care seems an appropriate match for the naivete of your conclusions,
