THE ONE FROM THE OTHER by Philip Kerr
Volume 4 of the Nazi Noir series.
The plot is simple tho it takes many twisted turns. In a nutshell the CIA is smuggling Nazi war criminals to America, and they aren't pleasant about how they get the job done. The war criminals are all German scientists and fanatical Nazis who murdered 1000s doing weapons and medical research in the death camps.
I'd rate the book 5 Stars but for the Introduction. Its a long chapter that's some of the worst writing I've ever read. Its missing from the early printings. But it explains how the principal character met Adolf Eichmann years before they collide in this book. I s'pose Kerr phoned the addendum in and a flunky wrote it.
The ending is a bit of a cluster fuck. I imagined something plausible and simple, like a trap to snag all the bad actors...the story begged for it...but it was not to be.
Curiously, Hitler swapped spit with the Israelis before world war 2 erupted. They wanted his Jewish population, he wanted to send the Jews to Palestine, and the Brits/Muslims shit their pants.
