A new study indicating, that the "10-30% of children have another father" -idea is a myth.
Even my first year genetics teacher mentioned that number!
I have tried to find papers about that previously, but never really found any.
.... These are surpricingly low numbers.
According to wikipedia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-paternity_event it seems to have started with bad numbers on a 1972 conference, backed up by the percentage in cases where people actually had the paternity checked (probably because they had a good reason to doubt it).
But the story has lived on, fuelled by media, moralists and those making a living from investigating paternity and handling divorces.
