We need a thread for bitchin' and whinin', to save the other threads for more funny issues. So, in here, you're free to complain about anything you want. The rent. The weather. The boring TV-programs. Your bad economy...

I'll go first.

Yesterday, I got into a fight with my teacher. I had been ordered to attend this special class, that was about getting guidance councelling. After 5 minutes, I knew this wasn't for me. The teacher was a moron who loved to hear his own voice, made more gestures with his hands than a professional, epileptic mime artist, and he clearly didn't pay any attention to what I said, he just went on and on about what HE thought.
Yesterday, I was fed up with his patronising attitude, and I was just sitting there, picking my nails, waiting for the session to end so that I could go and look for my class principal, to ask her to put me in another teaching module. Then the pig starts insulting me! He tells me that school isn't supposed to be a place for just killing time, and insinuated that it was my own fault that I had been without a job for 15 months. He called me lazy, he called me slow, he called me "blind pipe" - an insult that is so much worse considering that I actually AM seeing impaired, and (with my overweight) at risk of having the same fate as my mum, who has full blown diabetes, and has lost about 80% of her sight.

I told the bastard that I've been very active in every other class in school, and that it's only this one that doesn't stimulate me. I picked up my bag and left him, with the words:

"Picking my nails gives me much more stimulation than talking to you!"

I talked to my class principal later, and she has fixed it so that I don't have to go back there. Instead, I get to work on my own, spending 4 hours every day looking for a job and working on my CV.

Being poor sucks.

[rant about work]

While I was gone my boss promoted this girl who's only been working with me for a month to assistant manager. she was already making three dollars more than me to start, and now she's making six more than me. I've been working there for a year and I have gotten two lousy twenty-five cent raises, which brings my hourly wage up to a whopping eight bucks an hour. I get about 550 in my paychecks and my rent is 750. what gives? I'm about to get another evalulation today and i'm going to ask for another raise and i'm afraid he's just gonna give me another damned quarter. shove that quarter up your ass, boss.

[/rant]

A few minutes ago, I ran into a guy I know, when I was returning home from buying milk.
He asked me if I fancied going out for a beer or lemonade with him some day.
I asked him if his wife wouldn't mind if he went out with other women? Coz my husband sure wouldn't like it if I went out with other men!

He didn't even have the decency to look embarrassed, just uncomfortable that I had found out that he was married.

Stupid git...

OK, we evidently need to create some kind of Internet posse here to go track these pieces of crap down and stomp some butt!

If I could make it all better for you with a wave of my arm, my dears, I'd be beating the air enough to get lift-off.

Flicka, you could not be more near-sighted than me, but your vision is obviously better than that teacher's. You are a lovely sight to see, and you have shown us that you are definitely not lazy. Borrow that quarter from Chicklet and aim low, because that asshole has dug a divot in the floor to drag their ego into.

Chicklet, you have experience, you have charm, you have a good smile. If all they give you is a quarter, start looking. The next job will be better, I swear it. (don't forget to lend one to SvenskaFlicka - she has a rather urgent need for a flat round missile)

Maybe I could get Rhino to lead the charge, then we could gore them good.

-FF (people should learn to leave my kids alone)
ps. Flicka, I forgot to add perceptive to your list of talents.

I called Hubby yesterday. Why hasn't he called back yet? Could there possibly be anything more important in his life than to talk to me???

If so, I want it shot and buried immediately.

All kisses and hugs are cheefully accepted.

-FF (thank you, hon) :rose:

My internet is acting all weird, hiding posts and forgetting updates. And I HAVE re-installed it, and it still is messed up!

I need to take my computer to school and ask my computer teacher to have a look at it.

But first I have to hide all the porn...

Not often I'd get the chance to rant about this. Two words out of that sentence. Maybe I'm just too sensitive to them, maybe I'm maundering about "dynamic change and evolution" of the English language, but when even a person whose second language is English uses them then it drives me to despair.

The word moron is a clinical term for a particular kind of mental deficiency along with idiot and imbecile. It really pains and saddens me to see these words used so lightly. I stopped using them in my early teens when I came across a text book with pictures of people who were clinically labeled as such.

Epilepsy is another word. It's often used to describe uncontrolled bodily actions in a supposedly humourous way. You may suspect my dislike of its use is related to my circumstances, not so.

A long time ago I sat through a video on epilepsy. Grand Mal is probably the seizure you imagine and have heard of, frothing at the mouth, violent bodily twitching, writhing, complete loss of control. These fits are now labeled Tonic/clonic. Other types of epileptic fit can be as subtle as going completely blank for seconds or very short, repeated movement of a single limb.

Have you ever lain in bed at night, just falling asleep, knees bent and suddenly one leg kicks out. Don't wanna scare you. That was an epileptic fit.

It's not the fact of epilepsy used for jokes that pisses me off, it's the use of the word when you have no idea what you are talking about. Mis-conceived popularisation.

Gauche

I prefer Daffy Duck's word: maroon.
I also prefer to describe someone having an apoplectic fit - reminds me of my mother after finding out that I did her a good deed and washed her pipes (the ones you smoke, for some reason she didn't appreciate the fact that I used the soap with lemon juice in it).

-FF (no good deed goes unpunished)
ps. don't ask why she smoked a pipe, I have no idea.

Eff, I know you don't mean offense but it seems to me you missed the whole point of Gauche's post. Plus, an apoplectic fit is not in any way humorous, look it up.

I learned what a real moron is when I was in primary school (but not in reality as it was always the 'negros' who were branded such and put in special classes). As a young girl I was pained by the reactions my epileptic cousin would receive even when she was perfectly 'normal'.

sigh, Perdita

My aplogies, Gauche and Perdita. No I would never intend offence, and yes, even in my family and circle of acquaintences there are people who are more sensitive than others because of someone who has been unmercifully picked on and called names that sting. For that I am sorry.

What term should we use when we wish to describe an action by someone who is not using the brains we know they have? (I am not inferring any such abuse upon those attendant here.) Just as a Jew (me) calling another person of the same heritage a Jew does not hurt like hearing that someone 'jewed' another person out of something; using a term about intelligence, or lack thereof, about someone who is intellegent, should not offend nearly as much as using such the same term applied simply to hurt a person of unknown intelligence.

For the second 'misuse', I did in fact use it correctly, it is what my mother suffered from several times before her heart simply gave out for an apparently unrelated reason. I do apologize for the crude reference, it was uncalled-for.

Dear Svenska,
It's nice to know someone is using words from my vocabulary improvement thread.
MG
Ps. Many of those words are very difficult to work into normal conversation.

Svenska,

nice to meet you.
your teacher was obviously idiotically inclined to say the least.
people think if you're 30 pounds overweight you have some insight into obesity. If the weight is a health issue try to lose it, if not stay the way you are as long as you're happy. If that's you in your av you're absolutely gorgeous and the attitude is priceless.:D

I hate PC...

So I use mental midget when discribing people like that Flicka.

Oh yeah, and my pet peave is...

Bigots. You can't change their minds, they have to do that themselves, so the only thing you can do is just shoot them and put everyone out of their misery.

Ok, my turn for a moan. Why is October such a bloody long month?

And, why aren't there enough hours in the day? I want to find more time to write, dammit!
