Does anyone else cringe just a little when they hear the word real in front of BDSM or in front of dom/me?

I don't know why, but it bugs me.

Or TRUE, Who says whos a TRUE sub or dom? We gotta pass a test or something?

Making your bones

Yes monster it bugs me muchly

Mzchrista It is as if somebody is setting a test, asking folk to pass it it without letting the candidates see the questions. Very frustrating

It is like fingernails on my mental chalkboard every time I see the following words:

"You subs.."

"These subs..."

"The subs here, on this forum, etc..."

We are individuals, damn it.

I know how you feel there MissTaken,

I didn't much care for it when I heard "the hetdoms..."

I guess nobody likes being generalized into a category like that.

<and here's hoping that we avoided the next train wreck> ;)

No!

I am not like the rest!

I want to be part of a group ...really.

Please! Don't single me out!

:p

If a tree falls in the forest...

So, what is real? As long as you know what real is to you, why does it matter what real is to someone else?

I am sorry.

For what????

This is a blurt it out thread. You didn't say anything that could remotely be taken as being offensive!

Besides, maybe I was just looking for a reason to post to you ;)

Really?

Yes, the reality of our realness can sometimes seem unreal or even surreal depending on the time zone you are currently in.

I am guilty of ALL of the above,...

...and probably guilty of what will follow on this thread. (sob) *sniff*

Exactly! I am not here to make the whole bdsm community happy with me I am here in a relationship that fits...and as long as the way we play suits us, it does not matter.

One sure sign imo is when a Dom says "if you really were a sub you would do ..."

Besides whose reality are we discussing?

quiet:p

I fully agree with you Rose

Everyone has a different aspect of what they feel is right or proper. What is good or bad. How they accept another. It is just a matter of coming to terms with yourself and not becoming a drone in the crowd. To not be afraid and express yourself openly. Then you can rightly say you are true if you can't be true to yourself then how would you be to someone else in the deep respect of the community

Dear Silken Mystery:

Do you have a permit for those posts?

Isn't there a Total Height or Total Animated Gif or Total Lip Count provision in the Lit Town Bylaws?

Ditto, MzC. Seeing/reading REAL or TRUE used to describe dom/mes or subs, squicks me.

I do think I understand why some use these qualifiers (real and true), however. It seems to have begun in chat where so many pretenders, posers, and those looking for jo material come out in droves. They pretend to be *into* bdsm just to have some fun online (cyber is like interactive porn, in my opinion). Once the computer is off they go back to their *average, normal* lives and do not give bdsm a thought. So, those who really were *into* bdsm (lived it to some degree), were trying to find a way to distinguish between *them* and *us*.

I prefer to use "natural" or "sexual" to distinguish between the two types of D/S, and the posers (pretenders) are, at least, forced to distinguish between those two (if they want to play the chat game, anyway). The room I chat in is as close to *real* as you can get online (in my opinion), while still enjoying the illusion of a power exchange.

If you were a real asterisk user, you would know.

Good reply, asterisks notwithstanding.

LOL (I don't mind being a fake asterisk user, it heightens my pleasure while posting, then when I go offline I needn't worry about proper asterisks at all)

Thanks, Monster.
