Since some have been demanding and predicting Trump’s imprisonment for years, it’s appropriate that we track how it’s working out. The Russia Collusion hoax didn’t pan out, nor did the Ukraine call. More recently, angry progressives have turned their hopes on the “inciting an insurrection” allegation for which Trump was recently acquitted by the US Senate. Will Merrick Garland be their salvation? Or perhaps SDNY? Cyrus Vance?

It’s March 1, 2021. The haters have been trying to lock him up since 2015. We’ll update this thread if or when the jailer slams the prison door shut. 😂

not impeached =/= acquitted.

One is political and the other is legal. There's no jeopardy that attaches from an impeachment proceeding.

Guaranteed that, if and when this gets bumped someday due to a status update, the thread starter wil cower and run from it.

So this is the measure of success they set for their messiah? Talk about a low bar. :D

A clear majority of the current Senate declared Trump guilty of incitement of insurrection.

No, they didn't.

That's why Trump can still run in 2024.

57-43 is a clear majority, but in order to convict, there needed to be 67.

The House can bring up 14th Amendment Section 3, which will strip Tr*mp of his presidential pension, his travel allowance, Secret Service protection for him AND his undeserving children, and would bar him from running for ANY and ALL governmental offices!

The 14th Amendment doesn't give congress the right to adjudicate whether someone was an insurrectionist or not and certainly doesn't give the house the right. What it does is allows the house to overcome the bar.

I think what would have to happen is an action seeking to enjoin trump from taking office again, which would then necessarily mean that a court makes some determination as to whether or not he engaged in the activity described.

To be clear I'm not saying he didn't. I'm just saying it's going to require some court somewhere to say that he did.

Guess the OP feels the need to get in a last-ditch fairytale before the shit happens. :D

The Amendment and section can be used on any governmental officers, past or present. He needs to lose his protections and money, then once Garland is sworn in, the DoJ can arrest his ass!

Today, the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was convicted and jailed for fraud with more cases pending. It took ten years but...

So far, only three years with two years suspended, and his lawyers are appealing.

Says something pathetic that boomer boy had to make a thread about trump not being in jail, like it's some kind of accomplishment that hes been able to avoid jail thus far.

So much winning! Lol

Well the fact that he is NOT in jail, where he, and those traitors who stormed the capital, belong, is in itself miraculous. But I still hold out hope that justice will eventually prevail. Guilty or not, he has taken this country into a very dark, dark place.

He has, the US has lost the respect of the rest of the world because they elected a mouth breathing moron in 2016.

Sure they did ...they just didn't try him in the Senate.

They did a Mitch...."he is responsible and guilty."

"But I vote no on impeachment."

"And I'll vote for him again in 2024."

"I would not be Mitch Mcconnell if I liked to lose."

what does it say about a country if the best you can say about an ex-president is, "well, at least he's not in jail...yet."

It’s only being said in response to naive people on this board who think he’s going to jail. This thread is to help them track their fantasy. Basically a courtesy thread.
