The Odd Habits Associated with Smoking

I don't buy cartons either. I deliberately smoke Dunhill because its expensive and hopefully I will smoke less. I find myself running to the grocery store in the middle of the night however for the less expensive ones...

Much Better Idea!

Yeah, but I'm in no mood to go out now.

I think I'll just go to sleep after I put in this last load of laundry and pick them up in the early mornin' hours.

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread because it would make me want a cigarette.

I was the same way (months ago, when I was still a smoker) and I sometimes would not even buy a pack because I was either 'cutting back' or 'quitting.' Thus I became one of those really annoying people that are always trying to bum just one smoke off of everyone else.

Damn. I should run to 7/11 and buy me a carton.

I've been a smoker for about 8 years now. In this time, I have almost always refused to buy cartons. I bet in 8 years, I've purchased 25 cartons of cigarettes or less.

Why? - seems like a very logical question. Well, I guess it always seemed that if I gave in and bought a carton, I was admitting to myself that I was a smoker and was going to be a smoker. In this 8 years, I've always thought about quitting. But, I never have been successful. I really haven't tried all that hard.

But on nights like these when at 1 a.m. you are out of cigarettes, you realize how idiotic you always are for refusing to buy the goddamned carton.
I usually buy by the pack, too.

Mostly because in my financial situation, plunking down $30 for a carton seems a bit much. But also because of your theory, and also because if I only have a pack, I can limit how much I smoke. If I know I have a whole carton at hand, I'll go through them like there's no tomorrow. And because the place I shop isn't like gas stations, where a carton costs you $2-$5 less than if you bought ten packs.

I do buy buy-2-get-1-free specials if I can find them, though. Three packs for $6. Can't beat it.

When I was smoking (Halloween day will be 7 weeks smoke free).. I always bought a carton.

I hated running out in the middle of the night..

I was thinking about finding a malicious link to cure ya'll from your addiction but it's really late. Instead I'll just say that it turns your lungs all black.

Says the guy who appears to be sticking some sort of tobacco-like product up his nose.

Maybe I don't get high enough, but that looks dumb.

The Odd Habits Associated with Smoking:

- Bad breath and ashtray mouth
- Bothering other people with your deadly exhalations
- Stinky clothes and hands
- A faithful financial investment in your own poor health

I remember when I used to try and quit smoking all the time. (I quit years ago.) I'd do ok til I got with my friends on the weekend.

Then I just became a bummer.:D

Odd habits: putting the first cigarette in upside down and smokeing it last for good luck. :)

Where the hell do you get cartons of cigarettes for only $30? Try $48 MINIMUM for premium brands, and it still usually isn't as low as 30 even at the Res unless you buy online.

I am so glad I quit.

Thankfully we get USA Golds and a carton is $25 with a $9.50 coupon. There is this place on I 75 in an Indian Reservation where you can get a carton for $11 and they aren't bad either. We bought 8 cartons but they are gone now. We definately buy cartons. Can't afford single packs.

Not that I'm promoting the habbit

cuz it took me forever to quit, but you can get cartons online for $20. A friend of mine orders them all the time and never pays more than $30.

I don't have one. I suppose I could email him, but it'd be faster if you just googled. He's third year law and never gets back to me in anything resembling a timely manner. lol

When I smoked, I always used matches. I liked the smell of the sulfer. I would pull the matches off in patterns. If someone used one without my knowledge and wrecked the pattern, it was upsetting. (Not that I would say anything out loud.) A little OCD of me, eh?

Indiana. $29.99 for a carton of Marlboro's. They bounce between there and maybe $36 every now and again, but one or more major brands are almost always on sale for $30/carton or $3/pack.

Buy in Kentucky if you're swinging through. I was there in late July and bought a carton of Winstons for $22.99.
