We are on 1.1 and celebrating because it is growth.
2.4 is still going up. If it was MINUS 2.4 then you should be worried.

The [UK]Office of National Statistics has said that the growth rate figure is almost twice the predicted figure of 0.6% by the economists. It is the highest and the fastest quarterly growth rate that the British economy has ever seen since 2006. In the last three months it has gone up to 1.1% from 0.3%. 23 July 2010
We are on 1.1 and celebrating because it is growth.

One of the highest paying companies in this area just sent out a hiring call for a few hundred people. I'm one of them. Just waiting on the word. It always improves for those higher up the economic food chain first, but things are undeniably getting better.

Subtract the 600,000 temp jobs by census workers and you have near zero job growth.

No, actually I'm going by a company that never hires and has, in fact, been laying off and offering buyouts to older employees for the last ten years. Now they are putting in new facilities, new lines and hiring a few hundred workers. I'm not saying we're out of the woods, but this IS job growth. Maybe Obama hasn't boosted job growth as much you think he should, but to be fair, no one could have killed job growth any better than W.

The USA has over 300 million people and more every day. A conservative estimate of job needs is 1% or 3 million jobs per annum: thats 250K per month for all the kids graduating high school & college. dropping out of school, leaving the military, immigrants, etc. America probably absorbs 1 million immigrants per year.
So 600K jobs in 6 months is seriously less than needed to handle natural growth, under-employment, and unemployed.
Locally, my county recently gave Price Waterhouse Coopers $26 million to move here. The county commission wants all those high paying jobs PWC creates. Friday the paper announced that PWC fired 500 people and sent the jobs to India. The A.C.Nielsen Company and Coca-Cola recently pulled the same stunt. The county gave them sacks of cash to stick around, and they shipped their jobs to India and kept the money. There are plenty more examples of this in this county alone. Most companies slither around the rules by building warehouses to store the crap they make in China. Our pols aid & abet these swindles.
We have a small company here that manufactures electric cars but cant sell them in the USA because of federal law that requires production quotas of 50K vehicles per annum. China is the only nation that makes more than 50K electric vehicles, so they monopolize the market with the help of Congress.
USPS lost $4 billion last year because of less business. They fired 40K people.
California has a budget hole of $19 billion they cant fill. Tax revenues are anemic.
Obama's stimulus cash ends 31 December, and many gubmint workers will lose their jobs.
