The Nude Day Contest Support Thread

I don't have a clue what I'm gonna contribute to this contest...but I'm sure I'll think of something. :D My Summer Contest story is finished, but I have several other things on my plate at the moment...I'll simply wait for inspiration to strike...it always does. ;)

My summer story is finished and so is my nude day story, I'm working on halloween, I took a bit of a different approach on the nude day thing we'll see!

Not an expert on this subject mind you, but I have read several stories where the author did exactly what you have suggested, but to be on the safe side I would recommend you send Laurel, a PM, ask Kitty Mama, Dude!

Will do. Thx!!:cattail:

part bump/part announcement that i've got my story done! going to sit on it for a week or two before i start editing and dressing it all up to make it look pretty for its cotillion.

does anyone know what literotica's policy is on using song lyrics? if i credit it properly at the end, will they let me use it (i.e., copyright, songwriters, music publishing info)
I was looking for the rules on it but couldn't locate it. I've probably used some lyrics in a dozen different stories.
50% of a song is the rule of thumb. To play it safe, use less. Also give credit to the author or singer of the song.
Hope this helps. I usually try to stay around 1/3 of song lyrics.

Here is a recent thread on a chain story which covers this question in great detail:

You are ahead of the curve aren't you? :D

You have my interest on your Nude Day entry. Post a link here when it goes up so all us lazy people can read it. :p

My story Catriona uses song lyrics prolifically from first to last, credits none of them, and was accepted by the site without comment. No-one could read that story and miss the references. Surely using the odd line here and there is just 'fair use'?

Just read your story and loved it. I think I missed some of the references though (maybe I wasn't familiar with the songs or something). But I think I'll have to change a few paragraphs to work in the song the way you did in your story. Thanks so much!

Why, thank you, sweet lady!

shameless plug and thanks for info

Thanks everyone for your advice about what to do about the song lyrics. i did hear back from Laurel and she told me that I had to credit the songwriters, copyright, publishers, etc. and could only use 50% or less.

Now on to the shameless plug....
This doesn't have anything to do with the contest, but it has to do with exhibitionism (sort of)... I just had to toot my own horn here. One of my stories "Female Sexual Response: Subject 334" just took the top spot in the Toys and Masturbation category! First time I've been #1! My other story "Female Sexual Response: Subject 326" is currently #6 (that's the first one in the series).

And there's plenty of nudity and public orgasms in both of those, so maybe if anyone needs any inspiration for the contest... (hey, I'm just trying to stay on-topic here). I know it really doesn't have to do with the contest, but I was just so excited when I found out, I had to tell someone and I couldn't email my mother.

Looks like you got a hit on you're hands girl... Now, let's talk about you and your mother.....

um... i'd rather not. that's one image i really don't want to think about! i know for sure she's only had sex twice, once when i was conceived and once for my brother. ;)

My erotic writting has been on the back burner since the book came out and all the work involved in editing it and the sequel.

Anyway, I haven't been that inspired lately. But and there is always a big old Butt. I was riffling through some old files looking for some of my original notes and came a across some of my very early stories. One caught my eye as it has always been one of my favorites to write.

I might just polish it up a little and see how other people like it.

So I'm in with a maybe. :D

Can you do thaty? I always thought it had to be something new.

As long as it ends up as a new story it doesn't matter if it is a reworking of an old one. Even Shakespeare did that.

Having said that, TxRad didn't indicate that the "very early story" had been posted here.

I still have several of my "very early stories" that have not been published anywhere nor seen by anyone else. They could provide material for new works but are so remote from my present writing techniques to be beyond revision. They need to be written from scratch, wholly new but based on the original story's concept.

Sorry Ogg, Box, I should have said that it's never been posted anywhere. By the time I rewrite and edit with what I've learned since it was originally written, it will be a new story.

The story concept is sexy, hot, and very good but the writing is terrible.
My how things do change.

Chapter, episode or stand alone?

Jeanne D'Artois is considering writing one of her Laundry Tales as an entry for Nude Day.

However she (and I) are concerned that it might be rejected as a chapter entry. So far all Jeanne (and Martha's) three or four Laundry Tales have been written as stand alone stories. The concept is the same with Martha the ghost telling the story and the modern potter living the story as it is told.

However each story, except for the premise, can be read as an independent story. It isn't necessary to read previous stories or even to be aware that there are other stories.

What do people think?

Is a Laundry Tale eligible as a stand alone entry?

I think it sounds like a sequel. As long as the new one is stand alone like the other two were, it sounds eligible to me.

You should be fine. All the Laundry Tales have absolutely been stand alone stories, so they fit the spirit of the rule.

The way you title them fits the letter of the rule, too. When I put my last LST3K in, I omitted the "Ep. 09" from the title until after the end of the contest to avoid confusion that it required reading previous episodes.

Is there a rule against chapters in contests? Maybe there should be, because reading a chapter out of a novel is not something I want to do, and my attention span is too weak to read a novel.

I have never won a contest, but the closest I ever came was a Winter Holiday Contest a while ago. My entry was listed as a chapter, but it was a stand alone story about Angel Jones.

I have written a lot of stories that are classified as chapters but are actually stand alone stories.

I decided to try and write something. I have two nude day stories at the editors. Just fun to be part of the contest and gives me a reason to think up something different. We still have over a month to go. I do hate waiting to post after I finish a story.

At least contest stories post usually within a day of submitting.
Welcome everyone, Jump on board, plenty of time left to write.

who's viewing my unsubmitted story?

Okay,
I've got a story that I've uploaded, but it's in preview waiting to be submitted (I like to edit it the way it's being viewed so I can make sure the page breaks don't interfere with the flow, etc.). So, I just looked at it and it says that there have been 8 views. Who is viewing my unsubmitted story? It's nowhere near ready to be seen by anyone. I'm a little paranoid here. Who are those 8 people and how did they get access to my story?

Hey Kiana don't freak, I brought the following from the submissions FAQ hope it answers your question...
* * * * * * * * *

Why does my story have views when it's still listed as pending?

Whenever you (the author) or the Literotica editors open a submission form, it registers as a view on your view counter. If you check your story or poem 5 times, you may notice that it shows it being viewed 5 times in your author profile. This does not mean it's being read by readers. The story will only be publicly available once it has been "Approved".

phew! but i know i've looked at it more than 8 times, so it must not be capturing all the views? i wonder how many other views aren't being captured in the stats? thanks for finding this out for me!
