To smooth over any animosity and to prove that we don't just sit around hating Europe all of the time, I suggest we pitch in a few lines about what we like and admire about the Old countries...
Britain...
Always admired how a country that started off the size of Pennsylvania could end up controlling 80% of the surface (land and sea) of the earth
Always liked Winston Churchill, William Pitt, Elizabeth I and II, Victoria, Lord Salisbury (the Prime Minister)
The Battle that the movie Zulu was based on, Roarke's Drift maybe? That battle makes the defenders of the Alamo look like amateurs (of course they were)
English tenacity and ability to withstand long periods of suffering without totally cracking...World War II and the Tommies in the trenches in World War I
Rugby, rugby, rugby....very cool sport
English beer
Wonderful contributions to world literature
Germany
Admired Otto von Bismarck, a man ruthless at times but also showed balls of steel at others
German beer
German women
beautiful countryside
awesome automobiles
Prussian toughness, Rhinelander intellect
Italy
Food and its importance in bringing people together
art and literature
the Roman traditions and contributions
That's all for now, want to get the thread up and celebrate the contributions of our European friends
Rule: No mentioning of climate or missiles allowed in any future posts on this thread...this is for being nice only!!!!!!!
