In ancient times, the Elderlings -- the oldest and most powerful of the Fae -- held sway over the natural world and its seasons and elements. Many early human legends depicted the Fae to be gods and angels, a facade some embraced as a means to control the humans and empower themselves. Some even began using advanced Alchemy to bond Fae blood to human bodies. This led to the creation of the Warlocks, human in appearance but Fae and demonic underneath and completely loyal to their creators. Well, until the rise of the Akudar, that is.

One young Warlock took the name Lord Calsuphur and ultimately sparked a rebellion among his brethren, absorbing the souls of Shadow Dragons to achieve near god-like powers. Calsuphur and his followers became known as the Akudar, and struck fear into even the Elderlings. Soon even they began to fall against the Dark Lord's might.

All hope seemed lost until one young Elderling princess -- Lady Krystaria -- sacrificed her life to create the Crystal Pillar, an enormous tower of sapphire that absorbed excess magical energies and evil spirits and cast them off into a dark realm known as the Shade, which was anchored by the Pillar. This severely dampened the use of magic on Earth, except within small pocket dimensions and enchanted habitats.

Depending on if this becomes a one-on-one or a group thread, there were a certain number of amulets created along with the Crystal Pillar, and the bearers of these amulets became known as Krystarians. They were able to command the full power of the Mana Force, so long as they kept their amulets in close proximity. But only those worthy could wield this power, judged so by the spirit of Krystaria herself. Their task was to monitor the Veil between Earth and the Shade, and respond to the small rifts that appeared from time to time.

It is now modern day, the the number of amulets will match the number of active writers who join. If this ends up being a one-on-one with a single female writer, we can have a single amulet and the female character is training to become the next Krystarian when my character dies. Then my character actually dies, the amulet passes to you, but somehow my passing is blocked and my soul is deflected back to Earth. I end up in this sort of limbo state between worlds where I am physical enough to touch you and exist as a normal person, but I can also shift into a Shadow form that allows me to move through the Shade at great speeds and also transport baddies back there after we've defeated them.

You would remain the new Krystarian and I would be sort of like your spirit Obi-Wan Kenobi guide and mentor and also shadow lover. I could also be at risk of being pulled into the Shade completely to add some extra flair.
