the one that took up residence in the burn pile had a litter of kits. the mexican speaking great pyrenees and his chihuahua henchman keep wandering over nocturnally to investigate. so far the rabbit family has eluded them. it is life on the prairie.

tracks in the snow, telling a story.

2015

a descendant?
a squatter?

there are several this year
being very busy nibbling on the last bits of green
under 8" of first snow

this year the pyrenees has a pup to raise
they come nightly to piss on my truck tires
and harass the rabbits

but what of the burn pile?
i need to burn it, someday.

Rabbits are a huge pest here.
I've shot a few hundred in my time (but they don't go to waste - they feed the dogs.)

i've eaten every rabbit i've ever shot.

i was hunting rabbits with my pellet gun when i was 12.

i don't hunt anymore.

but i know how.

All sex toys in Canada have to be. To compete with the real thing.

Do you give them a soak in a brine solution to help remove the gamey taste. Anything fried in butter tastes good.

I've eaten rabbit several times...the last 2 times at restaurants, who I presume prepare it correctly!.....and I don't know what it is, but I can't stand it.

It might not be a matter of correctly or not. Some like a gamey taste, others palette more used to blander domesticated meats. Soaking in brine will change taste. I find soaked bunny next day to be far less "tasty" than fried in butter 10 minutes after you hit it with an arrow. Restaurant could be going for game taste.

I eat game meats.... just not rabbit.

I thought that was a Storm Trooper action figure, from the new Star Wars.

Probably best to just switch name tags on those Christmas presents, cause the only thing worse than gift wrapping is gift re-wrapping.

Okay. Now I would totally embellish that with a black sharpie!

Roasted in beef dripping is the best way .

We used to always soak for 8 hrs in buttermilk, then flour the pieces, pan sear, oven roast, with some carrots and potatoes and Yum! And, more often than not we would add fresh ling cod from ice fishing to a stove top pan and have a great feed feed because I always snared the rabbits in winter.
