The new threat to our sense of security...Anthrax

I thought Anthrax was terrible.
But Motley Crue was a thousand times worse. ....

HAHA that is a good one.

:p

The latest admission is that you needn't even open the letter to risk exposure, merely disturbing it is sufficient.

As to what comes next, well, the list is considerable and very disturbing, so it's best to not worry needlessly. If the worst comes , we shall know soon enough without losing overmuch sleep beforehand.

Well I am concerned......I am not losing sleep over it

:p

We will learn to be vigilant, to sense danger, to instinctively know when things are not quite right. The British were in the same position back in the seventies and they learned to adjust without too much compromise. We shall do the same! Likewise the Israelis, so we have examples to emulate.

Siren's gonna want to kick my ass but this is quite applicable........

Siren, read the words. I am sorry they are lyrics, but they are quiet ironic

Among The Living~ Anthrax

Disease! Disease! Spreading the disease.
With some help from Captain Trips, he'll bring the world down to his knees.
Power, yes Power! He'll show them all his power.
It pulses through his ice cold blood, a whole world to devour!

He's seeing, he's calling, his legacy he's spawning.
He's coming, corrupting, among the living!

Murder! Murder! Commit cold blooded murder!
Like Nazis during World War Two, they only follow orders.
Hatred! Hatred! A crucifix is your bed,
Once he turns his eye on you, you'll be better off dead!

I'm the walkin' dude, I can see all the world!
Twist your minds with fear, I'm the man with the power.
Among the living, follow me or die!

Man, fights Man! Divided they can't stand!
United, they can battle back, and make him force his hand!
Fear, yes fear! His end is growing near,
He didn't count on Man's good faith, and their will to persevere.

Follow me or die!

FIRE! HOT FIRE!! Purge the world with fire!!
Damnation is the price he'll pay, for an evil man's desire!
Good, versus evil! The stand to vanquish evil!
Man can only live one way, that place right in the middle.

Follow me or die!

You know what? I didn't think I was scared of this whole thing (anthrax)...I mean I wasn't aware of being worried.....but today when I went to buy Halloween candy I was hit with the realization that it was on my mind...and not tucked away somewhere ...it was smacking me in the face. I picked up a bag of those Pixie-Stix...they are basically a paper straw filled with a powdered sugar mix. My kids love them. How easy would it be to contaminate the factory where they are made? I will not buy them and my children will never eat them again. In fact, I am considering having a Halloween open house instead of letting them Trick or Treat. I will not take chances when it comes to my children, I don't care how crazy and paranoid it makes me seem.

Interesting lyrics from Anthrax and so ironic too.

:p

Spank my ass instead?

Strange isn't it Adoratrice. Gets you thinking.

I think it would be in the best intrest of children for our nation to return to the old ways of Halloween parties where you know who is around, and who made what treats for the adults and kids.

Besides they are really fun to host and attend and you know it! :)

It is decided then....

Halloween open house at my House.

Not that I would let any of you freaks near my kids...........'cept you starfishie..........you can come;)

sorry siren...back on topic.

While I can appreciate the feeling that Trick or Treating is perhaps ill-advised this year. It is truly sad that a band of faceless terrorists could effect such a profound concern among us all.

What's next, calling off Christmas?

Christmas is different than halloween Mensa.

:p

I hope your right, but we'll see comes the season. The growing sense of alarm and feeling of helplessness seems to be increasing rather than abating. If people don't get a grip on their fears, come December, anythings possible.

There's an airplane a couple miles from my house that landed because a passenger found a white substance in a blanket. The HazMat Team is there now. Sheesh. It's probably sugar.

Yes, I'm afraid the economic indicators are not good. People aren't in a festive mood for Hallowe'en and I fear they won't feel much better come Christmas. The irony is that this is exactly what the terrorists had hoped for.

I am fine Shadowie....

:p

But I am concerned about what the future holds for us.

I think everyone is frightened of the possibilities that could befall us via terrorism.

No longer can we just expect to be protected....the net is too wide. It cant catch every possible way to attack us.

So, I just wanted to voice how I felt.
I am angry that our way of life has been altered forever,
and
I am sad that our way of life has been altered forever.

I second this Siren.

I would third that. (Hmm is that the best way to concur.)

I am not afraid of Anthrax at this point. I am not powerful enough, rich enough nor do I live in an area that is likely to be targetted. I am concerned about the long term effects that the current situation, in it's entirety, will have on our way of life. But, as has been stated, I believe, we will simply have to deal with it.

It is as if we awoke on 9/11, seeing the world through rose colored glasses and all too soon, our naive sense of safety and perhaps, omnipotence had been shattered.

As for subsequent events, in my morose morning mood, it just feels as though we are part of a snowball rolling down hill.
