I heard today that an improved version of ET is being released. The improvement of note? Apparently, someone was concerned about scenes showing men with guns. So the guns in the "new" ET have been digitally removed, in their place, walkie talkies.

I also heard that on the ABC version of Goldfinger a character who was topless, got a bikini digitially added. I'm a Bond fan and I don't recall ever seeing nudity in one of the early films.

Has anyone else heard about this? What about changes made to other "classic" films? Do you think that someone should make old films more policially correct?

No, I didn't hear that about either film.

I don't remember nudity in any of the Bond films. They came close, but I thought that was always the style of them.

I think it is hilarious that they are changing guns to walkie talkies!! I have ET on video, and have had it for years. Saw the original in the theaters.

If you start going through all the older films and change things to make them politically correct, WHAT A MESS!!
These movies capture the times in which they were made.

other movies

The Spiderman movie that is coming out orginally had a sceen where he put a web between the twin towers. But they have removed it now. I think they should have left it in and just put an caption at the bottom say September 11th, 2001.

Speaking of redoing movies..

i just saw the Time machine. i will never go see a remake of an old movie that i have seen before. Its never the same. its the same setting, the same characters but the director and writer always wants their own shit. I loved the old time machine but this new one was just ok. Good special effects but not the same. The same goes for Planet of the Apes. Oh and Shaft. But i never saw the orginal shaft so i loved the new one.

Yes, I hear that about Spiderman, which is a movie I am looking forward to seeing, despite Tobey McGuire (sp)
Haven't seen the Time Machine, but am planning to. I wasn't that crazy about the old version, so I can't be disappointed.:)
