The ones who came before
Very little is known about them, the history of that time is lost to us now. Their cities have rusted and decayed little more than husks. Their histories, books, and stories have been lost to time with little more than cave drawings chronicling what was once a great race. Some argue that their past isnt important that all that matters is the new land they gave us and the dangers it poses. Why should we care? They argue when we have such bigger things to worry about?
But their past, their downfall serves as a testament and warning for us not to repeat their mistakes. Because even though the land they gave us is fertile and lush it is dangerous. Many think it was the machines who roam the land now that killed the old ones that their bodies are buried so deeply that we have never found any thing from them. Others like my self watch these mechanical beast roam like common animals and wonder if they aren't actually the old ones and that years of biological evolution and tampering turned them immortal. Is that our destiny as well? I often wonder even as my tribe continues to move along with the other tribe if we aren't moving towards some grand destiny playing a part for the old ones.
We follow these pack of beast along with the others, the hunters, the gatherers, and the warriors. Yet my tribe is the black sheep because we focus our efforts on "gathering" the secrets of the past. Some call us idealistic while others call us a nuisance but I feel in my heart of hearts that this IS important. Just as important as following the pack, just as important as finding a place to settle down. WE have been searching since our conception and we all our gathers in our own right.
The question is who is gathering the right stuff
...............
The year is 3200 2,000 years after the fall of humanity. The fall of humanity is relatively unknown because human life is still regrowing after our disappearance. Shortly after (or during) our disappearance a machine simply known as the "Seed" was detonated and it brought a rapid terraform of the earth. This Seed didnt just terraform the earth it transformed it and specifically targeted the machines we left. They began to evolve taking on animal appearances (for unknown reasons) even lost ones like dinosaurs and mythical creatures. Within years the earth was repopulated but this time by these strange new mechanical creatures.
But we humans were a resilent lot and it didnt take long for the earth to be home to a new species of humans. Some looked normal while others looked vastly different as if genetics and DNA were simply trying out different things. These new humans were remarkable in their own way possesing inate survival skills and quickly adopted a nomadic tribal life style.
So we find our self 100 years into humanity's new birth. What tribe will you belong to? Where will you go? The nomads of the planet known only as Tera have banded together for the first time in their one hundred years intent on finally settling down and creating a city of their own. Do you support this? Or do you oppose? Do you wish to go out on your own? Or perhaps find the secret of the new planet you find your self on?
