Billy was a shy university student, what would expect, he was in every sense of the word a nerd. While he did enjoy watching sporting events, he was never an athlete, his creative ability at least when it comes to painting and music was so bad it scared bears away. To most people he was a nobody, someone that you talk to only if you need help, and the rest of the time you ignore. He had some friends, mostly just Computer Science Majors like him, but that was it or was it.

Unknown to him, he did have someone that liked him, and wanted to get to know him, but she was as shy as him. She said hi to Billy a few times, but that was just in passing. Would she ever get the courage to talk to him for a period of time, and get to know him, or will Billy see her, and summon up the courage to talk to her, who knows.

Jenna was a sophomore Biology major at the university. She was shy and reserved, and kept a circle of very few close friends. She had a few gen. ed. classes with this guy... But she never said more than hello as they passed eachother by. She was shy, and was really hoping he'd be the first to strike up a conversation...

Billy saw the cute little girl, who he had been trying to talk too the last few days, but just couldn't manage the courage to finally speak to her. After class however this day, he went over towards her, and smiled at her. "Hello there, I was just wondering did you catch everything we were supposed to read for Monday, was it just Chapter 6?"

Jenna felt her face flush red as he approached her. "Um, uhh..." She stuttered nervously. "I think we were just supposed to read chapter 6, and study the reference tables in the appendix." She glanced down at the floor, trying to avoid eye contact.

"Alright thanks." He said turning getting nervous himself. "Umm, I'll see you around then." He said as he turned and started to exit the buliding, needing to get to work on his assignments.

"Umm... Yea... Sure... See you around." Jenna said awkwardly. You're such an idiot! She thought to herself. She sighed heavily, somewhat relieved that he had left. Why did this guy make her so nervous?

She walked out of the building, and over towards the big open lawn in the center of the campus. She lay down on her stomach on the grass, and pulled out a textbook to bury her nose in. The warm sun felt good on her skin, and she felt more relaxed now. Maybe I'll talk to him again...

Billy walked by the lawn, after he picked up a coffee on his way back to his dorm to get to work. He smiled at her, as she laid their her nose buried in her book, just like he would be in a few minutes, he wanted to talk to her, but after the reaction he got after class, he though it better to wait abit before moving forward, unless she approched him

Jenna read the entire chapter twice before deciding it was time for some lunch. She walked towards the Student Union, and headed straight for the coffee shop. She picked up a tall coffee and a turkey sandwich, and headed back towards her dorm.

Her roommate was still in class, so Jenna opened the doors and windows to let some fresh air in. She opened up her laptop, and waited for it to load so she could check her e-mail. She hoped that there would be an e-mail from her chemistry professor, saying that her 4:00 chem lab would be cancelled...

Billy looked at his watch, and relaized he had his lab in 20 minutes, he got the required books he needed and head off to the chem building, for some reason he was taking Chemistry as an elective, he liked it though.

Ugh. No e-mail from the professor, which meant class was still on... And Jenna would be late if she didn't leave right away. She gulped down the rest of her coffee, grabbed her books, and rushed out the door.

Jenna sped across campus, weaving in and out of the small groups of people lazily sauntering across the small campus. She flung open the door to the lab, and took a seat towards the back. The professor paid much less attention to her back there. She flipped open her notebook, and began doodling on one of the pages.

Billy got into the lab, and saw the only empty seats were up front, and in back. He headed towards the back, looking at the girl from earlier, taking his seat just as the Professor entered. It was going to be a long lab.

Jenna locked eyes with the guy she had encountered earlier, as he took his seat near the back of the room. She quickly glanced away, and blushed. He has such gorgeous eyes... She thought to herself. She shook her head, and tried to concentrate on the professor's lesson.

He turned and looked at the girl he talked to earlier, she was so beautiful. He turned and tried to pay attention to the lesson, but he couldn't it was just so boring, he felt like he would fall asleep if it wasn't for his laptop.

Jenna could feel his eyes on her... She could tell he was looking at her, and it made her nervous. She looked up from her notes and glanced over at him. She caught his eye, and smiled. She nervously waved to him before looking up at the professor, and jotting something down in her notebook.

Billy wrote down a few notes, before he looked at his watch. Only 15 minutes into class, still 45 minutes to go, this was defiantly seeming to be a long class. He turned and smiled at the girl, who seemed to be just as bored as he was.

Jenna tried her hardest to concentrate on the lecture... This professor was such a bore! And it didn't help that she couldn't get this guy out of her head. She smiled back at him, and tried not to stare...

She wondered what he was doing after class... Maybe she could ask if he wanted to study with her, or maybe grab some coffee? She let that thought float around in her head awhile, and tried to decide if she was brave enough to approach him...

Billy had just about had enough of this class, when the professor finally told them class was dismissed, he looked over at the girl one more time before he started to pack up, she was just too beautiful for him.

Jenna perked up when she heard that class was dismissed. She took a deep breath as she watched him pack up his things. Now or never, Jenna. Now or never. She walked over to him slowly. "Um... Hey. Hi. I'm Jenna. I was uh, just wondering if maybe you'd... Um... If you'd like to get some coffee and maybe study together? Maybe um... Later today?" She braced herself for his reply. She was sure he'd decline her offer, and say he had better things to do.

He turned and looked up and Jenna. "Hey Jenna, umm my name's Billy, I was going to go do some work, but umm if you care to go for some coffee, we can." He said looking at her, he was nervous and she was the one asking. "Now if you desire?"

 

[Miss_B_Haven]

"Now if you desire ?" Oh, if only he knew the things she desired...

"Um, yea. Ok. Coffee sounds good. And I don't have class the rest of the day, so I'm free..." Jenna breathed a sigh of relief, and smiled at Billy. She was quite proud of herself, but the battle wasn't over. Her heart was still racing, and she was nervous as hell. Maybe a little caffeine would calm her down?

"Where do you care to go, the shop on campus, or the nicer one off campus, your choice." He said as they started to head out the door.

 

[Miss_B_Haven]

"Umm..." Jenna thought for a moment. "Either is fine by me. They both have such wonderful coffee... You decide."

"Lets go off campus, more places to sit down, that aren't in the middle of everything." He said leading her out the door of the building, heading to the coffee shop that was 2 blocks away.

 

[Miss_B_Haven]

"Ok, sounds good." Jenna smiled, and walked out the door towards the sidewalk. She readjusted the bag on her shoulder. "So, what's your major, Billy?" She was starting to feel more comfortable around him... And the silence was unbearable.

"Computer Science, I'm in my second year. What about you Jenna?" He said trying to make small talk, he couldn't stand the silence between the two of them any longer, and he wasn't as nervous as around her now, compared to what he was earlier in the day.
