Why did CNN soft pedal what destructive actions Niki Haley took as Ambassador ?

Niki Haley, 1.5 million dollars in debt, leaves her position at the U.N. for the private sector...

Beyond her disgraceful record, the news of Haley's resignation was greeted with widespread speculation about her future plans. While some have concocted a theory—not wholly without merit—that Haley could be used to replace Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) if he is tapped by Trump to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions (assuming Sessions gets canned or quits following the midterms), others said the much more interesting and importation speculation is about why she is departing now.

There's no measure by which Haley is a "moderate."

As governor, she blocked Medicaid and resisted taking down the Confederate flag. As UN ambassador she blew up Arab-Israeli policy, defunded peacekeeping, and pulled us out of the Human Rights Committee. She's as extreme as they come.

Niki Haley speaks about campaigning for Trump's re-election.

There is much resistance developing against Republican candidates in North Carolina and South Carolina. Ivanka was sent there to do photo-op in a little town.

Nikki Haley is a former governor of South Carolina, Haley has been one of Trump’s most high-profile lieutenants, acting as the international face of the administration.

Trump said on Tuesday that he was considering Dina Powell for the post. He said his daughter Ivanka would be “dynamite” in the position, but added: “Doesn’t mean I’d pick her, because then you’d be accused of nepotism … if you could believe it.”

Trump was collecting money bags at a fundraiser, before the Kavanaugh hearing. Ivanka filled in for Malevolent Melania in visits to privately owned businesses. Melania escaped to Africa, to avoid inconvenient questions about rape, and the future status of women, under the sledgehammer of Rapey McKavanaugh.

Nikki. Haley quickly emerged as one of the staunchest advocates of Trump’s “America first” foreign policy, supporting moves that were opposed by other members of Trump’s foreign policy team, including the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and the moving of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.

Under Haley’s tenure at the U.N., the U.S. negotiated a major cut to the U.N. peacekeeping budget, withdrew from several bodies including UNESCO and the Human Rights Council over alleged anti-Israel bias, and cut funding to the U.N. relief agency for Palestinian refugees. In her announcement Tuesday, Haley pointed to last year’s sanctions on North Korea and the recently passed arms embargo on South Sudan as among her proudest accomplishments.

But the Trump administration’s standard of resignations and firings-by-tweet, Tuesday’s announcement was pretty cordial. But it’s still a little mysterious for one of the more popular and effective officials of this administration to leave like this.

(sidenote- Where are Nikki Haley's two predecessors—Susan Rice and Samantha Power ? Each of them served four years.)

Haley is a rising star in the GOP and is widely tipped as a potential future presidential candidate. She was quick to tamp down speculation saying, unprompted, “No, I’m not running for 2020. I can promise you what I’ll be doing is campaigning for this one,” pointing to Trump.

Whatever her future plans, Haley represents a textbook case of how Republican leaders quickly shifted from open hostility to Trump to embracing and implementing
his agenda.

I don't think that's balanced on what Haley has done as UN ambassador and points to how well she's been maneuvering. She's also dumped heavily on Russia, North Korea, and various Middle East regimes at the same time Trump was mouthing off in another direction and has given a different message on immigration and treatment of immigrants than true Trumpians give.

What she's done is manage to throw bones to those on all sides and has managed to be accepted as Trumpian by the Trumpers and not Trumpian by others. Her departure (not until the end of the year--not today; and the resignation letter is dated October 3rd) has raised all sorts of speculation about what she's up too. This is great for her--all of those options are there. She doing better than anyone else connected to Trump to play the game. Perhaps people should sit back and watch what she does and whether or not she'll get away with it. There are no options she has to play the way she's set it up by resigning now, not effective until the end of the year, until she sees what develops for the next couple of months.

And there's nothing in her past actions in previous jobs to support that she's a genuine Trumpian or even a foreign policy hardliner. The UN job was precisely to pick up foreign affairs credits and two years is the norm for a U.S. ambassador to the UN to serve. Dating her letter 3 October gives her the ability to both deny the leaving has anything to do with the Kavanaugh confirmation and the administration's treatment of women over that and also to hint where needed that that was the reason she left. And announcing now takes her out of any connection with the November elections. She doesn't actually leave until the end of the year, which leaves her two months after the bloodbath in the administration after the November elections to just maybe get a nice offer to stay in the administration, maybe as secretary of state, or to be appointed in a senate slot vacated by Lindsay Graham, if he's pulled into the administration, for the short time necessary to add that to her resume for (shh) a presidential run based on a very thick CV at that point.

I'm not a Haley cheerleader for any job. I just think some folks aren't "getting" how well she's developing options and keeping them open and are kidding themselves if they think she's a Trumpette. She's a Haleyette.

Nikki Haley called out by ethics watchdog right before her surprise resignation

Allegations came to light Monday that Haley accepted tens of thousands of dollars from three wealthy businessmen

On Monday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), filed a request to have Haley investigated for accepting unethical air travel expenses from three wealthy businessmen in North Carolina. The watchdog organization stated Haley accepted seven free flights for herself and her husband in luxury private aircraft. The flights took places between New York, Washington, D.C., and three cities in her home state of South Carolina.

Lying about where you’re from, like South Carolina Republican Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), the American-born child of Indian parents, might have done. The Associated Press reports that in 2001, Haley listed her race as “white” on her voter registration form.

Born Nimrata "Nikki" Randhawa, Mrs Haley was the first minority and female governor of South Carolina, a deeply conservative state with a long history of racial strife.

She is married to Army National Guard Captain Michael Haley and has two children.

An accountant and businesswoman, Mrs Haley was raised in a Sikh household but converted to Christianity and attends a Methodist church.

Sikh is a religion, not a race. Sikhs located in India are classified as Indo-Caucasian. Nikki Haley was born a U.S. citizen in Bamberg, South Carolina. Her ancestors are from India. "Indian" isn't a race. Neither is "Punjabi," the Indian state her parents were born in. What race do you think she should put on forms?

What is this racist shit you're peddling?

Also, she was the South Carolina governor who got the Confederate flags taken down. She also did a stellar job on handling the Charleston church massacre by an alt-rightist.

Stop this one-sided character assassination. I'm not a heavy Nikki Haley fan, but you are doing an unbalanced--racist--hatchet job on her.

I'm not a heavy Nikki Haley fan

It's fine if you are. She's a pretty standard tea party/GOP/Trump person. She's just as culpable for the destruction of democratic norms as the rest of the wrecking crew.

Whether acting under orders or in her own capacity she did a particularly bad job representing the US at the UN. So either she's a Trump stooge, a moron, or some combination of the two when she did shit like withdraw the US from the UN Human Rights Council.

There is no mystery. 14 straight years of public service and being a mom with young children, she simply wants more time with her family.

Haley's children aren't young (17 and 14). They're heading for college soon and what Nikki Haley needs is a job with good income to put them through college, not to stay at home for "young children." Her husband isn't in a high-paying job.

If you cannot manage the utility of information feeds, when you have resources from every branch of government, plus friendly news media outlets, what is the use of tRump's Spite house ?

gsgs comment- tRump and Nikki Haley had a meeting a week before she made the announcement. Scott Pruitt accomplished whatever missions the Spite House requested, and exited the office when the attention settled on his air miles.

Nikki Haley was given the heads-up, that her air miles were tracked and noted.

Washington Post-

"Something doesn't smell right' "Something's weird" “I can’t put my finger on it.”

from South Carolina's Mark Sanford (R)

What is there to get ?

Nikki Haley accomplished the tasked assigned to her. She works for the tRump Spite House. Rapey McKavanaugh was the last nail to seal the cask. No one buys the premise that there are adults in the room with tRump, anymore. The fig leaf fell off, when they voted Yes for Rapey.

What purpose did Nikki Haley's announcement serve ?

Short term-

Nikki's face pushed Rapey McKavanaugh's face off of the front page.

Nikki is a woman.

A reminder that tRump gave a South Carolina woman a high position, just before a tRump rally in South Carolina. Ivanka was dragged into it, to moderate the toxic over-flow from the Rapey McKavanaugh vote.

Long term- Mike Pompeo John "Mustache" Bolton are firmly entrenched.

tRump's Spite House recycles and re-assigns their operatives with regularity. Hope Hicks is on information and propaganda duty working for tRump and FOX TV. Who left the Spite House to work on tRump's "campaign" ?

Campaigning for tRump is what she said. Then, again, even Hope Hicks confessed to "white lies." Her job in the private sector did not include detaching from the tRump Spite House.

Nailing a concrete, solid, clear answer from any tRump operative is as satisfying as trying to nail a piece of jello to the floor.

No one will be surprised if Nikki Haley continues to be a liar, like everyone else associated with tRimp's Spite House.

Nearly unlimited supply of people that are willing to supply fig leaves.to the tRump Spite House, or anything else that is required by the tRump Alliance.
