8.9 million vehicles sold isn't too shabby and he planned on launching 12500 starlink satellites and did it. Why do you hate Musk? Is it a democrat thing? That's too bad because he's probably one of the most famous people on the planet.

Musk predicted he'd sell 250,000 Cybertrucks the first year it was on the market. He didn't even sell 50,000. And he sold less than 4000 this year. He doesn't have a good track record of delivering on his promises.

Telsa stock dropped below 300 today.

SpaceX stock is at 115 and falling.

There's not going to be a moonbase.

You want to hear something really interesting?

There's a small section of land between Egypt and Sudan called Bir Tawil. No one claims it as theirs. It sits there with no government and is not recognized by any governing body as a country.

It around 100 miles inland from the Red Sea on Africa's east coast. That's close enough to run an underground dual pipeline along the border for cooling water for a nuclear power plant and return it to the ocean. A nuclear plant run/owned/operated by the US.

The purpose of this plant would be multifold:

To provide jobs that require a higher education than herding goats.
To provide permanent infrastructure uncontrolled by either Islamic or tribal warlord/terrorist interests.
To provide energy to a continent lacking in sufficient energy to lift itself from world poverty status.
To create the beginnings of an infrastructure intended to foster economic change and solve some of the ongoing rampant hunger problem in Africa.

And more.

Bir Tawil sits there unclaimed and ready to begin Africa's journey into the future and no one cares. They're not interested in tossing money at it or using it to solve major problems. So the issue is neither money nor logistics, infrastructure, governance, poverty and conflict.

The issue is that no one has figured out how to profit from beneficence.

Or ... hear me out ... instead of building a nuclear plant in the desert 100 miles away from the water source it needs to prevent a Chernobyl-style catastrophe ... why not cover the Sahara with solar panels and run cables north and south?

Way cheaper and safer.

So, while I was doing a little bit of clandestine canoodling, my newsfeed decided to tell me that what's going to crash into the moon in a mid section of a Falcon 9 rocket from a previous mission. Apparently the mid section of the booster managed to escape earth's gravity and is not on it's way to punch our nearest celestial neighbor on the nose.

It's projected to impact next Wednesday somewhere near the Einstein crater.
