Paul Anderson awoke just as he always did, right at 2pm. He had a bedside alarm clock but never set it. His internal clock had him rising at the same time for years now and it almost never failed him. He swung his feet off the side of the bed and sat, resting his face in his palms, clearing his head. As he smacked his lips together he could taste last night on them. It was a mixture of cigar, fifty year old single malt scotch, lipstick and woman. He smiled as last night came to him.

Paul Anderson was one of Nevada's wealthiest real estate developers and married to his wife, Susan Anderson. They had met and fallen in love over twenty years previous, when Susan was a stripper, and Paul one of her customers. Together, drawing on Paul's finical muscle and Susan's experience in the industry they had created one of the most established clubs in the state, 'The Midnight'. The idea? To create a strip club comfortable for its clients, as well as its workers.

Rising to his feet, he turned to the bathroom and left his wife sleeping in bed. As he turned the hot water on in the shower he came awake in his mind and began to run through the weeks schedule in his head, mentally ticking off each item. He did extensively use his Blackberry but trusted his brain and his wife more to keep him on track.

As he finished his shower he thought he heard something and towelled off quickly, stepping out into the bathroom. He went into his bedroom and noticed that the sleeping form on the bed had been replaced by a pulled back pile of sheets. On the pillow was a small white note. He heard the front door click shut. His head spun for a second. For he was always in charge of their relationship. He grabbed the note and saw a few words hastily scrawled on it.

~I'l be away for a few days~ Susan.

He crumpled the note and tossed it onto the floor. That was his line. That was what he did when he had business to attend to. He snuck out and left her wondering. Now she had done it to him. He stood there dumbfounded when his Blackberry vibrated. He walked over to it and glanced at the newly arrived text message.

"Don’t forget we're looking for new talent this week."

He clenched his jaw and set the Blackberry down, trying to set his head straight. This was usually Susan's role, he was more interested in the financial side.

An hour later, Paul enters his premises, passing the elderly cleaners masking the smell of liquor from emptied bottles from the night before. They passed him a courteous good afternoon but they could see that the boss had a look on his face that should not be trifled with. "Any new girls looking for Susan, send ‘em to my office!" with an anger in his voice.

He went right by and into his office, closing the large double doors behind him. He settled in behind his broad oaken desk, booting up his computer and trying to get his mind back on the tasks at hand. There were several other important contracts to review as part of his wider portfolio. He hoped the rest of his day would be better than the start.
