The Mermaid's Tear would be a tavern/inn that would take place in a traditional Dungeons and Dragons setting. I have not created the world as of yet, since I would like to see if anyone is interested before I become heavily involved in its creation.

The Mermaid's Tear would be the sole tavern/inn of a small harbor town (think lots of boats and docks and whatnot). People are more likely to pass through than to stay. Currently, I would have no restrictions on race/class but I will have to approve a character before allowing someone to post. That being said, this will be an "open" thread, though you must PM or post here to join (and please wait for my approval unless otherwise stated). Also, no one-liners. Several paragraphs are appreciated, and, if you are unable to make a post at least every few (as in 2 or 3) days, please do not bother PMing me or responding to this thread.

On another note, while this is an SRP thread, huge orgies are not my primary goal. This is a place for good writing, character development and an imagination.

My character will be the owner's daughter who is running The Mermaid's Tear in his stead. If an IC thread ever develops, I will link it here and there will be more detailed information regarding the world/town/tavern within it.

Uhh.. I think that's it. Any questions? ;)

Yasmina

Interested! I would like to write for a human thief who has a past of occasional prostitution as well.

Profile:

Yasmina "Nimble-fingers"
Race:Human
Alignment: Neutral
Age: 22

Thief of the highest order, quite skilled. She was born of the gypsy tribes and later, (too wild even for their community) ran away when in her teens to avoid an arranged marriage to a cousin. She now lives from hand to mouth, usually stealing what she needs to survive. She has had to do some shifty things in her first few years on the streets...but that was long ago and she never tolerates anyone even alluding to her lifestyle in those days. Her intentions are much more honorable now, as honorable as a master thief can be. Her skills as a lock-picker are legendary and she is often paid well to go on missions with some local friends of hers.

Physical Description: Waist length black hair, often worn in a braid down her back, light ice blue eyes, with her dark olive complexion and dark hair her light eyes can be almost startling upon first glance but she is uncommonly beautiful and knows this. She has a great deal of charisma and uses her beauty and charm to often get her out of sticky situations. Yasmina is in excellent physical condition and is stronger than most women her age.

Very Interrested

Name: Mastema
Sex: Male
Race: Demon
Occupation: None
Age: 129
Alliance: Neutral (LONG STORY)

Appearance: Dark and mysterious, His eyes are deep grey, face is always covered execpt for his eyes. Tall in stature, standing at 6'3 weighing about 255 pounds.

Weapons: 2 8" daggers, sealed magically with poison...He frequently calls His weapons, Hell Blades.

Mastema was left by an ex-lover who betrayed him, brutally attacked and murdered as a result of her betrayal he was brought back to life by the demon named Naberius. After countless years of servitude to Naberius, he is now free able to move about and do as he chooses.

Mastema is a hard person to get to know, he is even harder to get to know if you are female. Since his dealing in the past have left him cold and bitter, he looks at women, most women as sexual objects to be used and thrown away at random...But once trust is gained, Mastema is loyal until death.

OOC: I can't wait to see how this one goes.

where as I am not into demons
I am extremely interested

Are you writing this is a general thread
a guided freeform adventure,
or a true moderated threat

let me know and I'll submit a char befitting to the sinario

I'm not really looking to set any boundaries as far as where you want to go with your character. If you'd like to keep your character IN The Mermaid's Tear, that's fine, but if he/she ends up halfway accross the continent because they're adventuring, that's fine too - I would be more than happy to try to accomodate for that. =) The Mermaid's Tear is just a small place in a much larger world where character's paths may cross. What happens after that is all up to you guys.

Does that help?

She had been knocked out during the fighting. She had been found the next day and had been brought here. She thanked them and moved on, the only thing that might have a link to her past of her damaged locket, which was damaged and is unable to be opened, and although she could get it taken to a shop, she doesn't want to risk damaging what may be inside. She now travels from town to town in hopes of finding someone who knows her.

She was away visiting a neighboring kingdom when her carriage was attacked by bandits and all had been said killed in the attack. The Princess was knocked out and a Knight took her place during the fighting. The body of the princess was never found but a letter with the rolay ring was sent soon after the attack and a note saying she was being held for ransome. Shortly after the letter was traced and the bandits were wiped out, but the princess was not found. The Queen still hopes her daughter is still alive, but with each passing day she loses a little more hope.

Also note: I'm a male in RL if that bugs any of you.

my question was whether there was an astablished DM, or not, lol

and might I request to play either your bartender, or the leader of your band?
if either role is still available?

Oh, I see! Well, that would be me unless someone wants to take that role, however, it would have to be someone who frequents the boards at least once a day. I mean, I'm not going to purposely set people out onto quests and journies, but if that were to happen, I'd be more than happy to giv it a go. =)

Bartender or band member is fine. My idea for my character is that she's the owner's daughter, so she would technically be your character's boss in her father's absence. I also planned on her being a bard, so as bar as a "band" goes, I think that would be alright.

Anything else? :p

I can dm, although you are welcome to the position

and I know you would be my boss
I meant like the lead member of said band,
either that or I'll go with the bar tender

and sorry for all the questions!

Well, we'll figure out the whole GM thing as situations arise. =)

As I said before, you may be either, although I think being the bartender would allow you to be more interactive with other characters as opposed to a band member who will probably be more into his music and things. But it's up to you.

Name: Gennifer Owens
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Race: Damphere (She's unaware)
Appearance: Gennifer is fairly average looking. Short dark hair, green eyes, 5'6" with a medium, strong build. Working in the Apothecary gardens of her home, her arms and legs are well defined. Hands speak of work and self sufficiency.

She's skittish. Though her smile is easy, and she's quick with a friendly word. You'll find her eyes looking over her shoulder at every turn. She's hiding from something. What it is, she may not even be sure of.

Still open for characters?

Since I see no one overly evil, every party needs a chewy moral neter. Full of goodness honor healing, buff magic, and nougat.

Well maybe not Nougat.

I speak of a paladin, a role I've oft been accused of. I've got a fairly good track record here on the boards I was in the last D&D session SRP that existed and I can write numerous pages without ever even trying to do a sex scene but still have innuendo.

In short if people are still looking I'm interested in playing a character and you do look to be in need of guys since so far you have a possible bartender and a male demon.

I'll post a bio as soon as someone yea or nays.

Name: Fillian goatfoot
race: Halfling
gender: male
class: thief, retired
alignment: neutral good

appearance: 4 feet or so, give or take, with an easy smile, and a wise yet almost childlike hansom face that is used to a smile, and generally tries to make people laugh. His eyes are dark as is his hair.

Born of a human and a halfling, he had the fortion to resemble his halfling parrent. Generally, a half breed resembles one or the other. He mostly resembles his halfling father, save for his feet which are not hairy, and do require that he wear shoes, much to his shame and dismay when he is at home in his halfling village. He lived in a large city for years, and was a member of one of the thieves guilds, one of the large crime sindicates that controlled the underworld of most cities and towns. He made his living as a cat burgler for a while, but he soon turned his tallent for appraising to good use, and became a tallented and able fence. Although retired and living in a smaller town now, he still has many contacts, and knows everyone, and knows things about them sometimes that would surprise most people. However he mostly turns his skills towards good, towards keeping the peace, and being happy now. He has tried to go straight and make an honest living, and delights in meeting people and telling stories, some true, some tall to his patrons. This does not mean he won't still make deals for people he considers friends, or for a cause he feels worthy. He just doesn't do it for as much profet as he once acrued.

Everyone's profiles look good so far. If you're interested and haven't posted yet, feel free and I'll get back to you ASAP about it. =)

Here's my basic character bio (more detailed info will be in the IC post):

Name: Elwen Shipsail
Race: Half-elf
Alignment: Hidden
Age: 19, though appears slightly younger (elven aging)

Lol I'm not even going to try, My brain turns to so much mush at this time of night LOL

Ack! Sorry if you guys are waiting up. Trying to make it worth the wait, though.. Still working, brain's a little slow tonight, sorry. =(

Terribly sorry for the long wait! It's a lot harder thinking up a world that I first anticipated, and I was simaltaneously playing WoW to distract me/provoke thought.

Post any feedback or concerns here. This is my first thread AND world I have created, so I can imagine there will be some flaws. So, criticism is also welcome!

Again, sorry it took so long and feel free to write away! :D

I don't wish to complain, or critisize anyone else's writing, however. I don't find it fitting or fare, for someone to presume that they are receiving poor service, simply because of a players RL constraints and inability to post at the drop of a hat.
I am a frequent poster, and do my best. I do not like to do or say things to contradict something someone says, but I am afraid I did so in my last post, stating that the fellow at the bar did not notice his drink, for he assumed my character was slow, when in fact by his personality, as seen in my first post is anything but.

Just a friendly reminder of RPing etiquette
I don't want to be a nag, and I won't be, just a friendly reminder
thanks!

Ok going to get this over and done with now....I'm not worried about how often you post, hell i know everyone has r/l responsibilities and this is just a game...

My first point in rebutal about "your slow service" is the face that by nature the character is an impatient sob...you could have been standing on yoru head dancing while handing him the drink and he still would have called him slow..

My 2nd point....read my last post "One of these days" he thought to himself turning back around still waiting for his drink, growing more and more impatient with the service. Despite his covered face, his eyes showing the frustration that continues to grow deep inside of him."....If you notice i just turned back around in time to see you make your post about the drink sitting there..

That is all

Carry on
have fun!

What are you all talking about? The thread started already? Where is it?

Not an attack
thanks for the clarification!I hold no illwill towards you. And look forward to continued RPing
Thanks

God that was about the weakest attack i've ever posted...I want that one back just for general principle LOL
