The Story:

Once upon a time there was a mountain that rose out of a vast green forest. And in the forest there were birds and lakes and rocks and trees and rivers. The forest, also known as Gamehendge, was also inhabited by a small group of people known as the Lizards. The Lizards were a simple people and they had lived in the forest undisturbed for thousands of years in utter peace and tranquility. Once a year when spring came, and the first blossoms began to show, the lizards would gather at the base of the mountain, to gve thanks for all that they had. They thanked the birds and they thanked the lakes and they thanked the rocks and the trees and the rivers; but most importantly they thanked Icculus. Icculus lived at the top of the mountain, or at least everyone thought so, for no one had actually ever seen him. But they knew he existed, because they had the Helping Friendly Book. Icculus had given the Helping Friendly Book to the Lizards thousands of years earlier as a gift. It contained all of the knowledge inherent in the universe, and had enabled the Lizards to exist in harmony with nature for years. And so they lived; until one day a traveler arrived in Gamehendge. His name was Wilson and he quickly became intrigued by the Lizards' way of life. He asked if he could stay and live in the forest. The Lizards, who had never seen an outsider, were happy to oblige. Wilson lived with the Lizards for a few years, studying the ways of the Helping Friendly Book, and all was well. Until one morning when they awoke and the book was gone. Wilson announced that he had hidden the book, knowing that the Lizards had become dependent on it for survival. He declared himself king and enslaved the innocent people of Gamehendge. He cut down the trees and built a city, which he called Prussia. And in the center of the city, he built a castle, and locked in the highest tower of the castle was the Hleping Friendly Book, out of reach of the Lizards forever.

Okay, so that's our story. I hope you have as much fun reading it, as we do writing it.

Wilson sat on a balcony overlooking the main square of his city, Prussia, from which he could see, vaguely, in the distance, his subjects toiling to clear more trees. Clearing trees to open space for expansion. Clearing trees for building material, for fuel. Clearing trees to keep them busy. It had been several years since he had come to Gamehendge, and he believed that its people had made considerable progress. They had developed industry, and formed a semblance of a government, with himself as its head. they had built a great city, the population having proper dwellings, instead of scattered forest communities. Roads, and hospitals, schools. Yes, Gamehendge was going to be a perfect, utopian city. It's present image was only a shadow of what Wilson intended. He envisioned the greatest city in the world, stretching farther than the eye could see. Beyond, more great cities. Trade bustling up and down the rivers; along great roadways stretching across the length and breadth of the land. Yes, he was going to do great things for these people. Idly, his mind wandered up to the tower, sealed, where the Helping Friendly Book lay, tucked away from the populace. Before Wilson had come, they were completely dependent on the silly thing. It contained mostly nonesense about living alongside nature, in harmony and peace. Not such a bad plan idea, so Wilson had tried it at first. He noticed how the Lizards, as the population was called before his arrival, seemed to idolize the Book. They referred to it in most aspects of their petty lives. Peace and harmony was all well and good, but Wilson did so prefer a comfortable bed to a tiny grass hut. He had taken the book, hidden it away, his industrial mind flattening the land, cultivating it into a better society for everyone. He smiled, his thoughts weaving a pattern of the future streets and alleys that would crisscross the surrounding hills...

A heavy knock on the door brough Wilson back to the here and now, turning, he saw a man enter the room. "Sir," the man said, "there are reports from our operatives in the city of insurgents on the outskirts, causing trouble in the camps."

Wilson turned back to the city below, rubbing his temples. "You know how to handle them, its the same every time. Why do you persist in pestering me with such trivial details?" Taking a seat in a soft chair on the balcony, Wilson idly swirled his drink as he pondered what to do about the rebels who had fled the labour camps, claiming to return to their old ways. Those fools simply couldn't see the future. They couldn't accpet change, even if it was for the better.

Tela sat on top of the multi-beast that had, along with the unit monster, been her companion since age six. The raging river before her seemed to calm slightly as she jumped down and began to move toward it. Her white linen skirt fluttered around her ankles as she knelt down in the grass on the riverbank.

She gazed out over the city that lay ahead of her. Prussia. It was beautiful in all its glory. She knew Wilson had great things in store for him from the moment he had arrived in Gamehendge. She never realized that it would be anything like this. She had been in love with him from the day he had announced his great plans for Gamehendge. She had abided by the rules of the Helping Friendly Book all her life, praising Icculus every spring, and she had felt it was time for a change. Her father, however, did not. He had been part of the resistance since they started and she had hidden out in the camps outside of the city.

When her father died, however, she had dared venture inside the city and had been stunned at what she saw. Her father and everyone else at the resistance camps must have been stupid to think that Wilson was not good for this land. He was creating a better and more civilized society for all of the Lizards and she was amazed that they could not see that.

She met Wilson and he had taken an intense liking to her, as she had of him. He had offered Tela private quarters in the castle, but Tela had turned down the offer, insisting that she could spy for him in the resistance. And she had, successfully, for almost three years.

Tela got up and back on the multi-beast, leading it across the river and into the wonderful, civilized, city of Prussia. Her silky black hair swayed around her shoulders as the multi-beast moved. Her ice-blue eyes, scanned the streets around her while the multi-beast trotted towards its destination- Wilson's castle. She had news for Wilson.

As Wilson sat on his balcony, drinking and enjoying another fine day, a liveried servant bustled into the room. Slightly annoyed with yet another disturbance, he turned to the timid fellow with a threatening stare.

"Um, s-sir," the servant stammered, "Lady Tela is here. She just arrived on her multi-beast. Something about news."

Wilson's mood lightened at the mention of Tela. She had been away in the resistance camps. Hopefully this was good news, it would be a shame to spoil such wonderful weather.

"Send her in, then!" The servants should have known Tela didn't need to be announced.

Tela stepped into the luxurious room quietly after being granted permission. She smiled slightly as she moved toward the balcony and saw Wilson sitting there. Tela sat on his lap with no warning and kissed him softly on the lips. "I missed you." she said as she buried her face in his neck and kissed it softly.

"I have news, but can it wait? I just want to be with you right now, I don't want to spoil the moment." She kissed him softly on the lips again and smiled at him.
