A couple of weeks ago, my gf and I discovered our best vibrator in pieces. We think it had been sitting on the nightstand when a cat knocked it off and it just broke apart! It was an awesome vibrator that served us well for many years. (Actually, it was the kind of neck massager you can get at Brookstone!)

We have plenty of bullet vibes, dual-action (like the rabbit pearl), and so forth, but we needed something sturdy and really powerful like our old one. I knew immediately what our next vibrator had to be. I've wanted a Hitachi Magic Wand for years: it's the holy grail of vibrators, after all!

I got one Thursday night in the city as a present for my gf. We'd already talked about getting one but we were thinking of ordering it from Blowfish or GV or some other sex-positive place, but I ended up getting it at the Pleasure Place. (I wanted to get it at Dream Dresser, which is also sex-positive, but they were out of it.) So I brought it home...

And oh my god. No wonder that thing is the holy grail of vibrators. It's totally awesome.

Now I have to research attachments! :D

It was me. I broke your vibrator. I'm sorry. I would pay to replace it, but I have no money. :(

Awww, whad'ja have to go do that for?! ;)

The attachments turn out to be pretty cheap. I'm loving this thing more and more. :)

you can get vibrators with attachments? goodness. im living a sheltered life.
actually, while we're on the subject any sugestions for a first vibrator to use with my girlfriend (ok, and on my own.)

Toys in Babeland has a guide to choosing a vibrator:

The Hitachi Magic Wand is their best seller, but I think it might be a little intense for a first vibe. I've heard nothing but praise for Rabbit vibes, too. (They have various names, mine is a Rabbit Pearl I think, but they are also called Rabbit Habit, etc.)

I'm a wahl coil fan, but I like the super targeted you can't escape it no matter what vibration. I think I will get the wand too for comparison's sake.

I love that you think the cat broke it. You know you're a dyke when sex toy destruction gets blamed on the cats. Hee hee.

You should see what happens if you let a parrot get ahold of one.

Get it from Blowfish if you can. They've got it for $40, and even plus shipping that's way cheaper than the $70 I paid in a local store. I got it on an impulse and I should have shopped around!

Do you mind if I put that in with the quotes in my sig? :)

Etoile - Now how could I? LOL of course be my guest.

Mz. C - omg, I shudder to think. The mental pictures are hysterical.

We got our Magic Wand off E-bay, brand new with 2 attachments for $50. What a great birthday present.

have any of you ever ordered from Blowfish?
what was your experience with them?

Yes, I've had good experiences with Blowfish. They are a sex positive shop and I'd recommend them pretty highly. Very sane people over there, and not totally just out to make a buck like so many other places are.

Thank you.
I just ordered the Wahl from them, if all goes well I'll be getting the Magic wand also

As I mentioned above, Blowfish has it cheap ($40) and they're a very reputable company. There are other places, but they're more expensive. I recommend Blowfish.

so you say to get it at Blowfish??

I think she said get it at Blowfish.

Ask her one more time to make sure.

Did you say to get it at Blow fish????

Yea, thats what she said. She said get it at blowfish.

:p
he he

Blowfish is my current favorite sex shop. Their selections are interesting and varied without being overwhelming, their website is easy to navigate, their shipping is speedy, and they often have the best prices around. They write useful reviews of new products in an email newsletter.

Decision time: Wahl vs. Wand

Ok, I've narrowed it down to the Wahl coil and the Hitachi Magic Wand. My ideas and concerns (tell me if they're valid because I can't find either of these in any store to plug in and see for myself):
The Wahl- Smaller, lighter, nice focused stimulation, and more quiet. I'm concerned that it might be too weak (sometimes I need a lot of help). I bought the Conair version, and it was so weak I could hardly feel it on my hand, so that's going back to the store.

The Hitachi- Super powerful and durable. I'm concerned the vibration will be too diffuse...I like the Rabbit Pearl's focused stimulation. Also, I don't want to bring something that's been described as "as loud as a lawnmower" into the bedroom and it looks a little large and difficult to hold/use.

It would also be good if the one I buy could actually be used as a massager...we have a percussion type, but that's too heavy to use on my neck myself. But this isn't the main priority.

If you have one or both, please tell me what you know and if I'm assessing these accurately. Thanks so much in advance!

Yes indeed, the Hitachi is both powerful and durable! The vibration is indeed diffuse, and I haven't found any way to make it more specific (then again I haven't bought any attachments yet either). It isn't really that loud, unless you put a condom on it (we used a female Reality condom) and then it was LOUD! It didn't really do much for me when inserted, it was more a curiosity than anything else and it's awfully strong for insertion purposes. (We only tried this once.) It isn't really difficult to hold or use; I find it very natural in fact, and it's easier on my wrist than some others.

As for actually using it as a massager...I've tried rubbing it on my neck but I wasn't too impressed.

I definitely recommend it, though. At only $40 (from Blowfish) it's a great buy.

Thank you very much Etoile! :rose: Still looking for advice on the Wahl...any takers? Please?

The Wahl is definitely not weak. It has two settings: strong and tooth-rattling.

It is very quiet and comes with a variety of attachments. For well over a year, mine has seen almost daily use for both orgasmic and massage purposes and has been completely reliable. I find it a little more comfortable to hold and maneuver than the wand types. Depending on what attachments you use, the stimulation can be very focused, or fairly diffuse.

Thanks for the other side, Queen Bee! You all are making this a tought decision...a trip to Toys in Babeland might be in order to see for myself, but I'm leaning towards the Wahl I think. Has anyone found a non-sex store that actually sells it?
