Oh what high cleverness to misspell both dummy and dickhead. This moron must have had both neurons working full blast to crank this comment out. Well gutless wanker you had your 15 seconds of fame, but you cannot claim it; it is Anonymous.

And too think ishtat I was going to criticize you for that title "Babylon 587 539 BC The Winners View "
I can see I was wrong.

you rock, ishtat you rock too, as far as writing and comments

The person who wrote that has no class. Fuck 'em! It's just another loser. To post that anon. proves my point.

Leave it there so the person who wrote it can be reminded what a jerk they are. I think everyone with brains that comes across it doesn't see it as a comment on your work but on the person who wrote it.

I've been getting several rather personal comments myself. I deleted them and wish I hadn't now, for the reason I stated.

Anonymous is one pathetic sub human...

and a prime example of how some of these creatures feel they need to crawl from the sewers and vomit their absurdities in a desperate attempt to be acknowledged. Little did this "person" {and I use that term apprehensively} know how many of us would also surface and rally in defense of not only an extraordinary poem, but also an extraordinary poet who comes by his talents honestly and professionally. Bites you in the ass, doesn't it, anonymous? Too bad you can't rub those two brain cells together and figure out you could be just as good at writing as the ones you slam if you would just take that same time you invest in trashing and devote it to honing your own abilities. In the process, you just may find there's a human poet/author beneath the sewer slime.

I think bogus brig is right. As much as it hurts now, leave it there. I will only to serve to reflect back onto her. If she didn’t like your work, that’s fine, but he didn’t have to be rude and insensitive.

Besides it shows who the real dickhead dummy is.

Anonamouse, YOU ROCK!! oh yeah, that was a pretty sorry comment left on Ishtats poem, I hadnt read it till I saw this thread. Anyway, getting to the deletion of comments, how about those people who delete helpful comments? even those that were not anonymous? I think they are shallow...just my opinion, but thats how I feel...and theres a lot ofthat going on round here lately, so I am wondering, except for a few people who who actually are here to learn and not just get licked on, why bother?

Damn, you're on a tear, I am glad you left a 75 on one of mine

I left it there, didn't agree with it.
Did you like the Maria Rocks thread? We should keep it dedicate to people that are honest, helpful., even cantankerous (Boo check my spelling)

any score less than a .50 tells me that your the kind of jerk that will tailgate you, and then pass you to slow down, i.e. why waste your time?
a .50 is low enough to send a clear message - just my take on things - let me see, can I write something that is so ass-kissing, that has so many names, that is so pretentious that has at least two of the carlin words in the title. I think I can. Maybe I'll get an "H"; maybe I'll be disappointed.

Disagree! By definition a "3" is average. That means at least half the poems are worse. If you don't tell them, how are they going to know? I give fewer "4"s and far fewer "5"s. I do give even fewer "2"s than "4"s, and that is because I don't finish some of the bad poems and I don't feel the need to tell someone that everything they write is crap. For the same reasons I give almost no "1"s, but I am not philosophically opposed to doing so. :rose:

yeah, I liked the MAria Rocks thread :) thank you...and if I thought it was payment for something I said, I wouldnt have even posted in there :p Youre a pretty straightforward person as far as I know, I like that.

I just wanted to say this about deleting comments, I wasnt on a tear, not at all. I have deleted some hateful personal ones, but when someone offers helpful advice, that does not offend me, it usually helps, and I would be embarrassed to remove a legit comment like that, anon or not...and remember? youre the one that told me I had trouble winding my poems up, my endings, youre so right, that helped me!! made me look at my work differently and it has benefitted from your advice, so thank you:rose:

bell curve
don't like
don't vote without comment,
less than 5, I leave reason
I have two reasons to tell anybody their work is crap, one, I only save it for the very best poets, the other for very excessive pandering.
And I leave my name (or number), a vote without knowing where it came from means nothing to me, a set of 5's from the LCD, no thanks, tells me at best I could be L. Nimoy or R.McKuen.
Sorry 5 is my base, 'till I know you, slip up then 4, fuck up badly than 3. Less than that I'm wasting my breath.

in the immortal words of the mouse "Mata Ratones" to the hateful.
I'll have to ask him what it means, I think it is Spanish for "Kiss my Ass" but it doesn't look right..

more input

I recently caught wind of this thread. It is on fire on all accounts as it should be. Now pertaining to the individual that left the comment on ishtat's poem; the empathy poured forth in defense is very admirable. And for this reason, it seems just that some changes could help solve this. I'll elaborate here and hopefully others will also chime in to create change here with the voting and comments structure at present. First, it only makes sense to do away with the anonymous comment. Writers for the most part are all about saying what is on their mind. Is it not? My way of looking at it: If one can't leave a comment that is useful, then they ought to stay un-noticed....period! Critiquing is important to a writer. We all like feedback to what is good and what can be improved. But because it is an erotic site, unfortunately, the worms will filter in. The anonomyous comment must be done away with. I use my pen name on every comment. Secondly, when it comes to voting, it is fine that one wants to vote, but even that shouldn't be under anonymous factors either. All votes should attach the pen name. That doesn't mean that one has to necessary comment on the poem, but to at least be able to vote and move on if time is of importance. Being a writer is tough enough as it is without absurd and stupid comments. The webmasters do a fine job. We need not to forget that. But in the same breath, a little change for the positive, certainly is a step worth stepping up to the plate. I've seen that here. We all should have a say in how we can make Lit better and beneficial to all. If I may add a small insight here: A jealous writer never becomes a good writer. Let that be known. OK group.....that is my input. Let me say, we have some great human beings here and we have voice when we come together as one to unite in a just cause. It's time to brainstorm........right?

Yes, sad isn't it...

that this incident of a fellow author's work being attacked spurred Me to post My very first thread reply? I have made mention to a few here on the site that I stay away from the gossip and arguments {no, I don't consider constructive criticism or helpful discussions negative conversation - that's what forums are all about, right?}, but found going to the boards and commenting on those that I feel really deserve encouragement and praise and a pat on the back for their efforts at hand to be My way of showing comaraderie in the best use possible of My limited free time. I feel comfortable in My way of expressing My support in that I only vote 5's {or I don't vote at all} and I take a great deal of time choosing My words for a comment to express My enjoyment of that particular work. If I have anything to suggest about someone's work {I am not qualified, in My opinion, to offer actual critiques on poems}, I will do so in a private feedback to that author. I am adamant in My belief you draw the best out of people with kindness - not sarcasm or cutting remarks - and I will stand by that creed to My dying day.
As far as comments on My own pieces... I agree with bogusbrig on that and have, in fact, left all of the critical comments on My works {but for one that simply made no sense to Me} for the same reasons as he explained, but with one other reason, too: when I feel the need to pull Myself in check and view My work from another's eyes, I will especially re-read those negative comments to get back on My toes with My current work. They keep Me balanced and in a place that is known as "Reality" and a place where I need to be in order to reach My goal of becoming a GOOD published author. All of those critiques, by the way, are honorable ones as they have been signed other than with the cowardly, sniveling generic dweeb name "anonymous". They will remain on My work.

They're just numbers, folks. If you know you wrote something good, don't sweat the numbers. People will comment and/or tell you via pm/email what they think and that is meaningful. And if they just insult you or your poem, that's their problem, not yours.

My Say

I have never replied to a thread before, if i'm honest i guess it is because I am a little intimidated by all the wonderful and talented Authors who post here but I felt I had to have my say on this especially as I was one of the writers who commented on the vicious attack on Ishtats poem. I read alot of poetry on here and try to comment as much as I can and I always try to do it with respect to the Author and give my honest opinion, they may not always be good opinions but they are always HELPFUL and ENCOURAGING and I ALWAYS leave my name!

Being a writer I know how much hardwork and effort goes in to any story or poem and to have it trashed by some 'up their own arse' anonymous idiot is not only rude and cruel but unnecessary and hurtful.

I've been lucky and have never had any attacks on my work however I have had constructive criticism and advice and I have always tried to take that on board after all that is how we learn and grow. I always try and give encouraging comments because i have received so many myself and that is what makes me strive to be a better writer and to keep me writing period! I would also just like to take this time to thank everyone who has ever read, commented and voted on my work, it is greatly appreciated and I am truly thankful

numbers are numbers...but constructive crit is not necessarily always a negative comment/thing. suppose someone left the comment-- run spell check, edit, you forgot some punctuation, etc...and that pisses someone off, I say, well, they probably shoudlnt even have PC's turned on.

negative, to me, equals lots of things, I once saw a comment that said, this reads like someone who never got out of the backwoods or a reading level past LIttle Black Sambo.

THAT pissed me off and wasnt even MY poem and it was a beloved admired person who isnt on the board anymore, after that, I had no respect for that person again. That was insulting more than a poem, it was insultiung every southern kid that ever had a copy of that little golden book... :(

Hey Jennifer C!! you leave great comments. and this is where the PC debate works, sort of.I recently left a PC, signed, on rarebreeds Las Vegas poem that he mightget more emphasis by ending it sooner, you said, I lke your ending just fine!!

I was reading his poem for emphasis, was NOT trashing it in any way, gave it a 5 in fact and mine was the first comment on that poem. I admire you for saying what you think, thats the way to go girl!! we disagreed, but I still read your stuff ;)

Yes I remember that comment on rarebreeds poem and although I did disagree with your comment I was no way insulting you just giving my honest opinion which is what I always try to do. And yes I do always say what I think and i'm glad you can see that and respect it and still read my work as I still read yours.

Much respect...

I take these comments like water off a ducks back <grin>
