A word of explanation for you folks who aren't Southerners: when something is 'fixin' to happen' it means 'it's about to happen'. It can also mean 'getting ready to' as in, 'I'm fixin' to go to the Wal-Mart. (And yes, it doesn't matter that there is a Wal-Mart in every town. If you are a Southerner, your Wal-Mart is the Wal-Mart. Same as the Mcdonalds. [Pronounced as Mack -Donalds])
