It came to my attention, while looking through the Story Feedback, Discussion, and Idea forums, that if a person knew how to use the site's search engine really, really well and could figure out a way to accept payments online they could possibly make some real cash as a story bounty hunter.

There are people in the hundreds on here who are looking for stories and can't find them. I know if I had a way to pay someone, lets say $5:00-$10:00 to find a story I've been looking for going on about a year now... sure.

Just saving me the time lost looking would save me more money than that.

But it wouldn't be as simple as that now would it? There are a lot of authors who have pulled their stories. What if the lost story is one of those? You would have to be able to look through those. I know there is a way to do that I saw someone mention it the other day.

Bounty hunting stories... job opportunities popping up every day. Who knows they might in a few years, given the way Hollywood is going, make a TV show about you.

Of course if you want feathered ear rings, to have the big breasted blond wife and live in Hawaii that's up to you.:D

Posted more for fun than anything.

You could do it the NSA way--gather a huge government grant to just stockpile every story that ever is posted. Then advertise that you have them all and will try to find stories on demand for $5 a pop. Then when someone pays you to find a story, you could tell them the collection is too big, you can't find that story, but that you tried, so you're keeping the $5.

Yeah but if I was to do that before long there would be secret government style probing going on.

Then the IRS would get involved.

Nope, nope, nope. Keep it small time... under the radar... middle of the night style story hunting.

You're 100% correct that these lost story searches are showing up in a number of different places. I know I'm pissing in the wind, but how about one forum just for such requests? Or maybe as a sub forum on the story ideas board?

I've thought about requesting that. One with a moderator that know the sites search well enough to help direct story hunters.

In a side note I just, and I mean just, found the story I've been looking for. From September of 2012 till today with no luck till about thirty minutes ago.

And it was pure luck that I found it. The part I remembered as the start of the story actually begins about a third the way down the page.
