I put this here so we can cover some ground rules so we all dont get tripping all over each other.

Everyone has an idea of what vampires are like or should be like. Which is cool, but when you get 10 differetn interpretations of them, they begin to look more like comic characters than creatures of darkness.

And since its my party, I'll die if I want to. So, I'm going to give the outlines for vampire's here

1) You arent born a vampire, your parents werent vampires, no half vampires, Blade is someone elses thread damnit.. vampires are created, not a legacy

2) Sunlight will kill a vampires sorry ass.. crispy critter time

3) Staking will incapicitate a vampire, but not kill

4) Decapitation will kill a vampire, so will being burned alive.Dead. Whatever

5) Crucifizes, holy water, churches..do diddly squat. Only if the person weilding them has the faith of God, will a vampire shie away

6) All vampires need blood, human blood preferably..others will sustain them but will make them less "perky"..sort of like eating healthy or living off Mr Noodles and ONLY Mr Noodles

7) No clans, or rotting creeps,you all come from the one source diluted as it is

8) No anime transformations, no wings, no tentacles ( yeah, i saw one thread with a vampire with tentacle arms..I mean, was he created by the Vampire from the Black lagoon?) . Vampires look like everyone else..excpet they're really freaking pale.
Plus they dont blink, breathe, or need to eat or drink.

9) Vampires can eat food or drink, but gain no sustenance, its only roughhage..in one end out the other

10) Yes, they can have sex and like it..this is an SRP after all

11) No flying or fireballs please.. this is a vampire story, go play dragonball z elesewhere

12) Vampires can have a multiutde of abilities.. great strength, agility, durability, can influence emotions, read thoughts, jedi mind trick thing, command others, control vermin , canines..as long the powers fit into the genre idea of a "vampire" go for it.. but just because you're a vampire doesnt mean you have all these powers..look at Louis from the vampire chrnicles, some strength and speed, thats about it


if you got any ideas, share them with me.. lets debate, argue , etcetera


and ideally.. could i get my vampire love interest to be a girly girl..heheh

If I took a hunk of asphalt, dipped it in gasoline or pitch, lit it on fire and fired it out of, say, a slingshot or other launching device, then could I shoot fireballs at people?

I kid, I kid, I like your rules quite a bit, and am considering creating a character. And I'll be quite sure, if I do submit an app, not to suggest myself as your vampire love interest.

Would there be a plot, or is it more of a sandbox?
Also, would humans or other races be playable, is vampirism genetic or spritual, are there government forces set agenst the vampires?

well.. I set open an initial posible plotline with the murder of local scumbags, belonging to different criminal organizations..which could lead to a crime war.. and that being said, if vampires have exsisted so long..why is such a blatant killing taking place

I've also hinted at a birthmark on my character ; which i was thinking could be plot thread too

as for races.. think i was pretty clear..humans..and humans turned into vampires, lol..this would be the modern world after all

not genetic, vampires are created.. like I said, its not a legacy.. and would rather see it as spiritual, magical forces, that going back to the traditional vampire genre.. as for the mechanics..who knows.. could loosely base it on that the old RPG Vampire, wherin they all come from Cain

as for government forces against? quite possibly, but theres also a good chance that vampires could be well aware of them, or even control them for their own ends..

but back to plot.. lets see how it begins and go from there

This looks like an interesting premise BBS...and I like that you listed rules for your vampires, makes life easier that way.

One more question for you though, are your vampires dead/sleeping during the day, or can they move around so long as they stay out of direct sunlight?

I enjoy it as well. You always do make the more interesting stories.

I was wondering if I could play Nick Lounds. He seems like a great character. Some low life working his way up to the top. He used to be big and famous and respectable, but some bad story rubbed him the wrong up and and down like a cheap whore.

Now he's down in the dirt papers once more, trying to make a name for himself. He goes for the bad stories, the wrong stories, getting the scoops and connecting all the dots. He's as dirty as a penny, slick as a used car salesman, and when he was cleaned up pretty damn handsome.

Let's say 36, 6 feet tall 225, with cropped brown hair and rat-like nervous eyes.

Abilities: Minor empathy (reading the surface feelings of her victims), increased speed and strength and an affinity with felines.
Personality: Intelligent and a loner she is content to keep to herself most of the time though she does on occasion crave the company of others and can then be found haunting those clubs nearest to her home. She rarely kills when she hunts, preferring not to draw attention to herself or to her her hunting grounds. After all dead bodies piling up tend to make the humans cautious and draws out the wrong sort of people.
Appearance: Petite she stands at only 5'3" with raven locks that fall to the middle of her back in a straight curtain, piercing green eyes and alabaster skin perfectly suited to her particular "nightlife".

Caela.. thats looking really good, the feline affinity is nice spooky touch, a spin on the traditional canine affinity, me likey..feel free to flesh out a history, a "haven" ( where the vampire rests) etectera as time goes by, ..but its looking really sharp

as for pooh..being modern day, I think most people wouldnt know about them or believe in them, ..there might be some groupsthat might believe in them, or study them, like the Talamasca in the Anne Rice books..

I imagine the vampires would have a wide network amongst each other and thier own hierarchy.. and how about we steal from the Vampire the Masquearade RPG, and claim each city has a vampire Prince, that is kind of the ruler and enforcer over the vampires of that city..but that doesnt nessecarilly mean the vampires are loya or follow him

However, someone, possibly whoever turned him, has been killing them before he can.
Appearance: A 6'1 techy, like all red heads, he looked pale before he became a vampire and still managed to get worse, in the right light you can see the veins under his skin. He dresses in a button up shit and a pair of jeans, with a tool kit in a sling bag.

Okay, why was a techy as you put it ; dealing with mid level drug dealers in the first place? And was he as much a sociopath in life that he just decided he wanted to start killing?

I mean, its got some potential, but I just dont see any motivation just yet, keep on flushing him out

BBS...Glad you liked her. The feline bit is just cause I am more of a cat person than a canine person myself so I have a harder time writing any real affinity for canines. I'll flesh her out a bit more once we start writing and I see where the thread is going. I'd hate to have her too written up and then have a hard time shifting gears with her if the thread needs it.

History: He went through life as nothing special, average grades, average family and average looks, all that ever made him stand out was his skill with computers. He got in to drugs and the seeder elements of society, the big wigs took advantage of him, the middle men abused him and the peons shunned him, it drove him to quiet insanity held at bay by paranoia fear and addiction. The gaps in his memory, brought on by years of substance abuse, became worse with his decent in to psychosis. He woke up one day as a vampire, the events leading up to this are unknown to him the feeling of power that came with it was as strong as any drug he ever took. He decided that he was given power for a reason, that some greater power wanted him to take revenge, so he began stalking the various crime bosses with intent to kill them but someone was beating him to the punch.

How would bullets affect them? I figure the bloodloss would be a problem from bullet holes. On the other hand, a 2 foot gaping exit wound from a .45 hollow point round is going to be hard to recover from.

I'm thinking about making a hunter, maybe someone religious. There's plenty of new technology since the days of stakes and torches.

Okay, why are you hunting them..what motivates a person to hunt down and kill creatures the rest of the world doesnt belive exists.. I imagine someone doinghtat might have a few social problems, lol, but could be interesting..

A run in with a vampire early in life where his faith saved him from being turned, but not before someone in his family had been turned. Perhaps a little sister. And he witnesses firsthand that these creatures are evil when he had to kill his sister to save his family, or maybe kill his parents to save his sister or somesuch.

Since he would be a religious character most of the sexual activities would be out for him, so I probably wouldn't bring him in until later in the story, maybe 50-100 posts in. Perhaps have him start a new chapter in the story by killing the Prince/Arbitor/Judge vampire for the city and starting a war of succesion

Just random thoughts.

Hmmmm..how about a priest? One who has lost his faith or something and turned to the bottle or something? i was thinking of making one as non-player character.. and as the story progresses he eventually turns into a vampire-whupping soldier of God again

How about a catholic priest who was already fed-up with the hierarchy and politics of the church, as well as the corruption of certain bishops and the contradictions between scripture and doctrine. A smart man who could have been another Aquinas or Augustine, he is in turmoil over the state of the church and the only thing that's keeping him from leaving is one monsignoir who appears hto be holy. When that monsignoir was accused by numerous people in the priests and alter boys scandal of the late 90's early 00's he renounces the collar and his faith.

He has spent the last five years doing his best to forget about God and the church, indulging in drink and eventually sex. Not prostitutes but the casual sex a large portion of the population engages in. His heart is broken by his first time. Incedibly inexperienced, he thought he found his true love. She was just looking for a one night fling to clear out her mind. Nothing like a good fuck to clear your mind.

He works at a garage/body shop and has a degree in mechanical engineering and mathematics which laid the foundation for his advanced degrees in theology and religious philosophy. But he's not looking to make a buck as a high paid engineer, he's just looking to hide from himself. He even has a live in girlfriend maybe.

Then he encounters a vampire, and when the vampire attacks he honestly and fervently calls on God, starting him back on the slow road of sanctification?

Something like that?

Hi, hoping I'm not too late to join in on this, or whether I'll be accepted for that matter. You mentioned about how each area has a prince vampire, one who rules over all vamps and keeps them in line. Well surely a prince vampire wouldn't get his hands dirty...

Name: Helga
Age: 90 (29 when bitten)
Race: Vampire
Abilities: Quite noticeable difference in strength and speed, partly given upon turning and partly through rigorous training. Minor control over weak minded human beings and to a lesser extent, incredibly weak minded vampires.

Personality and short history: Strong and intelligent German woman who was forced to leave her home country after the war and emigrate alone. Soon after arriving was attacked and enslaved by three vampire men who worked for the prince. Helga managed to kill one of the vampire's before being caught by the prince himself who spared her life (In a way). She then became his protege and over many years, eventually his enforcer.

Helga adores the prince and would probably do anything for him, yet has a loathing for most other vampires. The only thing she loves more than slaughtering a human for food is hunting down and punishing unruly vampires at the prince's request. She's rarely seen whilst on the job, though sometimes hangs around only the seediest of vampire bars in her downtime.

Appearance: 5'9" and rather intimidating looking. She has incredibly light blonde hair to the point it seems white, (Coupled with rather pale skin and prominent features) Helga is quite like a giant doll.
