With hips moving in time to the seductive rhythm of the music, Anna slowly unbuttoned her blouse. The black lace of her bra peeked out teasingly, a dark contrast to her ivory skin. From his seat on the edge of the bed, her husband Ethan reached out, large hands encompassing her waist, and pulled Anna closer.

“So beautiful.” He whispered, kissing the smooth expanse of stomach now on display. “So perfect.” His lips pressed lovingly to her flesh. “You’re a work of art, Anna.” Ethan looked up at her, wire-framed glasses slipping on his nose.

Anna bent forward, dark brown curls falling forward in a curtain around their faces, and lovingly kissed his forehead. Pushing his glasses back into place, Anna smiled down at him.

“I love you.” She said, straddling his lap. “And I am going to show you just how much.” Her hand slipped between them, sliding inside his boxers. He groaned. After three months of marriage every touch still felt like the first.

The pair had met at a bowling alley when Anna’s bowling ball had skipped over two lanes into Ethan’s, whose bowling league was in the middle of their championship. She’d cost him the game, but the two had hit it off when she bought him a “I’m sorry my clumsiness made you lose” beer. They couldn’t have been a more mismatched pair and yet, somehow, Anna’s whirlwind personality complimented Ethan’s shy nerdiness. Their courtship was brief but passionate and within two months they were engaged; the wedding following only a few weeks later.

Ethan’s fingers traced the ridge of Anna’s spine as he kissed her. She smiled, parting her lips to deepen the kiss. Her hand tightened around him, caressing him, building up the anticipation.

“I want you inside me,” her voice a husky whisper as she pulled him free of his boxers. With a grin, Ethan flipped her over onto the bed and happily fulfilled his wife’s wishes.

Later, as her husband slept, the corners of his lips turned up in a boyish smile, Anna kissed him on the forehead. With her shoes in one hand and the bag she kept hidden behind the washing machine in the other, Anna turned away from him and left.

A wall of chatter hit Dani as she opened the door to the cafe. The morning rush was at its peak and the sound of shouted orders and hissing steam wands assailed her ears. Weaving her way through the crowd, Dani took a seat at table in the back corner.

“You’re late.” The man seated at the other side of the table pushed a cup across to her. The morning sunlight glinted off his glasses, making Dani squint.

“Traffic.” Dani had never been a morning person and the fact that she had gotten almost no sleep the night before was not helping matters. Taking a long drag of the coffee, she made a face.

“It would have been hot if you’d gotten here on time.”

She set the cup down and squared off with him.

“Can you please tell me what the fuck I’m doing here? I was supposed to have a couple weeks off.” She crossed her arms. The defiant look somewhat minimized by the dark bags under her eyes.

He threw a folder across the table.

“New job just came in.”

With a sigh, Dani picked up the folder and flipped through its pages.

“What’s the deal with this one?” She asked, brushing an arrant strand of copper hair behind her ear.

“You know the deal. No questions. Just grift and get out.”

“Fine.” Snapping the folder closed, Dani shoved it in her purse and marched out of the coffee shop and into her next con.
