Ok folks, we've talked about setting up some sort of chat room for a while now. Well the wife and I have gone ahead and done it. On IRC.
For the time being, we will set up a schedule for the chat room so that someone will be in the room from 6pm to 8pm (pacific time).
If you have an irc client program, join DAL net, jade.va.dal.net is where we are, but you can use any of the dalnet servers. Then type;
/join #lit-chat
You must register your nickname in order to enter the room. To register your name, type the following once you have connected to dalnet.
/nickserv register password emailaddress
Where password is whatever password you want, and emailaddress is YOUR email address.
Wait about 10-20 minutes for the email to arrive, then follow the instructions in the email.
If for any reason you have problems, go to the help room by typing ;
/join #help
And ask your question. Someone will answer it.
Once your nickname is registered, you will be able to join us in #lit-chat.
If you do not have a IRC client program, you can download one from either;
http://www.mirc.com (shareware)
or
http://www.xircon.com (shareware, but no nags about buying it)
If you have questions or problems connecting to dalnet, drop me a PM. Remember that until we all start using this room we've set up, you may enter it and find no one but you in there.
Three other items.
I would ask that you try to register a nickname that is either the same or close to what you use here so we all know who you are.
Also, as of right now, myself and my wife (alyx) are the only people that have ops (control) of the channel. I will change that as we all get to know each other better.
Finally, this room can be used for any purpose. From the trading of naughty pictures to just yacking and getting to know each other. Heck you can even cyber there if you don't mind an audience.
I will state this though. The room will be limited to 18 and above and it will follow the TOS set up by dalnet. Which means no illegal stuff.
Hope to see you all there in the coming days
