Everyone seems shy.

Is that because incest is the most popular category, but no one wants to admit reading it?

here is a link to a list I did back in 2002 of some of my thoughts then, which are surprisingly similar now:

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=90415&page=2&pp=25

read post 29 - "unregistered" was me ( see post 30)

the biggest change is that over time I have become more likely to sample stories in ANY category by writers I respect, and otherwise more likely to have my attention captured by a clever or interesting title or description, regardless of category, hoping that the imagination carries forward into the story itself.

that was the conclusion that i drew as well, esp given the number of views. sirhugs, you certainly do have a way w/ words. former english major, perchance?

i have no compunctions answering the question myself:

anal
BDSM
erotic couplings
exhibition/voyeur
fetish
first time
group sex
interracial
lesbian
loving wives
romance

after all, let's face it: exhibitionism & voyeurism is a fair description (IMHO) of the entire online discussion forum participation process, really.

i don't yet have a feeling for the authors' various styles to make judgments based upon that, excepting ms. thomas.

Humor & Satire only - no doubt the least read of all catagorees. Can't take myself too seriously at any rate.

though you will find humour pieces hidden elsewhere, esp under celebrities.

and I bet that "non-erotic" is least read.

i'd wager it's neck & neck: i would think that visitors to this site are looking for titillation, not laughs. and non-erotic is obviously going to be a...turn-off...for those visitors. :> OK, sorry: i couldn't help myself. :D

Great advise SW...

The big question is who can the trolls bash when I am gone?

Good thing I hold back my best stuff.

:p

see, now that wasn't so traumatic, was it?

favorite categories

i hate to say( maybe because i am new) but the only category i ever read is the nonconsent reluctance. i have no real idea why i love this one. and i also like interracial and some of the stories in incest/ taboo. probably were talking to your friends but i wanted to answer. sorry

um...jacquetta, people create threads in forums to create discussion of some kind. feel free to elaborate if you like. :>

so how do you find stories that you'll like in those categories? toplists, and then other stuff by those authors? some other method?

ed

just looking

actually i just click into the categories and browse the titles. if i find a title i like then i read it. then if i like the story i find more by the author or just keep browsing until i find another nteresting title.

restless

may sound stupid but what are you doing now. have you ever considered writing or having some one else write a story for you.

jacquetta:

nowadays, i go to the toplists. frankly, i just don't have the time to spend reading as much. if i find an author that i think is good, i'll keep that in mind and maybe search the author's other work.

i do some writing of my own, yes. i have enough ideas and work slowly enough that i don't go soliciting ideas, though. :>

and you?

ed

yes i have enough ideas to write several stories but no time because of school and personal problems. maybe during the summer i will start to put my ideas to paper. but most likely not because of work. do you try to find novels that are similar to your favorite categories or is it just the website. i don't mean to sound like barbara walters just interested.

well, i tend to work in short stories. longer forms, for me, are for other types of writing: mainstream, fantasy, etc.

ed

I assume the purpose of this thread is to generate story ideas by better informing each other of our interests as writers and readers?

naturally. identifying opportunities, i believe you described it? that said, i've never been particularly averse to threadjacking. :>

but you wouldn't want our lovely and kind and normally indulgent moderator motivated by carping seals to hijack this thread overto the GFB now, would you?

( how'd the carping seals image get here? musta followed the boincing ball from the beastility thread)

so there's a category non specific Story Idea to legitimize this thread:

a story set at the circus, involving the protagonist watching the performing seals ( but no seal sex please!)

You're new, yet on the "date joined" it says Dec 1969....? I can't imagine the site has been around that long! lol

jacquetta, how long have you actually been a registered user at this site? and did the site change its forum software since you started? i've seen things like this happen on another site.

bedtime stories: ah, fess up: you liked it. :>
