(Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.)

A long time ago, dragons and their human knights (called Dragoons) fought to defeat the Elemental lord Ragnaros and bring order to a chaotic and tumultuous world. Separate they could not hope to achieve victory, but working together they managed to subdue and successfully banish the Fire Lord, sealing him away for all eternity. The war was not without its share of costs, however. Whole flights of dragons were decimated and thousands of humans lost their lives fighting against Ragnaros and his minions.

~ ~ ~

This thread takes place thousands of years after that terrible conflict. What was once history became nothing more than mere legend, stories often told to children as they are going to sleep so that hopefully they'll behave better in the morning.

With the dragons long gone, humans have spread across the entire known world, and countless civilizations have flourished and fallen into ruin since the time of the Ancients.

~ ~ ~

For the most part this thread serves as a mostly -dangle my feet and see what sort of ripples I can stir up- thread, but I fully intend to get an IC post within a week or so. Still have quite a bit of planning to do. The main focus of the story will be to get our characters acquainted with one another, learn the history of who the Dragoons are and get through some intense battle sequences before we get to the real baddies :)

Players can only control one Dragoon and can certainly have multiple characters, but there will only be seven Dragoons total at any given pt. in the story. I'd like a heads-up on any character profiles before having them posted. 9 times out of 10 there won't be any issues, but I like to be thorough :)

The Red-Eyed Dragoon Spirit (reserved)
The Jade Dragoon Spirit
The White-Silver Dragoon Spirit (reserved)
The Dark Dragoon Spirit (reserved)
The Violet Dragoon Spirit
The Blue-Sea Dragoon Spirit (reserved)
The Golden Dragoon Spirit

For obvious reasons I've omitted the Divine Dragoon... it's just too powerful and doesn't really fit with the history of this world... so please don't ask about it. If anyone is interested in playing a baddie send me a PM and I can fill you in on what I've got so far for the cult that intends on summoning Ragnaros back into the mortal realm.

I would love the jade dragoon spirit ... character has always been my favorite

I have no idea what the backstory is for this thread or who the Dragoons are, but I'm rather fond of dragons. Dibs on White-Silver.

Wut.
Someone on this website aside from me actually knows about Legend of Dragoon.

AND in the first two posts, my two favorite Dragoons have been taken. >.<

I suppose for the sake of personality matchup, I'd need to be the Blue Sea spirit. Yet Dark also calls out to me. I want in, but if someone else wants one of the two I listed, I'll slip into the shoes of the leftover spirit.

As long as Dark doesn't mean bad or evil, I'm taking that one

Somebody gots to be Jedi's opposite :p

Sorry Kikori, Dark just sprang at me, but if you want it, just say so and I'll pick another one.

I definitely want in

Sorry about that, but I've got history with white dragons. My very first RP on this site was a dragon/rider story and my dragon was white.

Now if only someone would be kind enough to bring those not familiar with the Legend of Dragoon up to speed, that would be much appreciated. Also, a little info on the various Dragoon spirits would be handy too. Would be nice to know what I'm getting myself into.

You always have to try to be the polar opposite, don't you, DK? *sigh* Oh well. Let's see how this goes.

By the way Tears, very nice quote in your sig. Gandalf from Lord of the Rings talking to I believe Pippin during the Siege of Minas Tirith.

Of course master, I must test myself regularly to see if I have learned anything from your tutelage

Dragoons are basically masters or riders of their specific element of Dragon. It's been fairly long standing that some constants remain between each element.
Red-Eye is hotheaded, loyal, powerful, and a leader. Swords.
Jade are sturdy, devoted, usually intillectuals. Spears.
White-Silver tend to be, with maybe Miranda's exception, the pure hearted but strong willed archers.
Only one Dark Dragoon was recorded, a sharp-tongued and witted lady. Daggers.
Jade is a level-headed and protective Fist fighter.
Blue-Sea tend to be young prodigies and still a tad immature. Oversized hammers.
Gold are often large, muscular giants with simple and almost naive natures. Axes.
Each dragon tends to reflect on their master / mistress in power and how they fight, as well as what they may do in and out of combat. It wasn't particularly elaborated on.

I probably should have waited another day or so before posting the thread, I would have had a lot more detailed explanations written down, but since it's after 2am I'm probably going to head to bed soon so... in ze mean time I direct you to ze Dragoon wikia for a quick peak.

In a nutshell, however, each Dragon gives a select human the ability to transform into a Dragon Knight, with enhanced physical and magical capabilities.

And yes, tis Gandalf speaking to Pippin, that Fool of a Took.

It'll be difficult to avoid such cliche's, but we'll try :p

I've claimed the Red-Eye Dragoon Spirit, and my character I've got rolling around in my head is not really powerful nor is she a leader. She's a thief and cousin to one of the city guards I'll also be PCing.

Suck-up. Time for another lesson: punctuation. It's serious business. There are people who use too much, there are people who use too little, and then there are those who use punctuation correctly. I leave to you to figure out which you are.

That's great. I apparently made a great decision in going with White-Silver. I like archers and can do strong willed quite easily.

By the way, you have Jade in there twice. You probably meant Violet for the second one.

Thanks for the quick run-down, and thank you Tears for the link. I'll probably be referring to it as things progress.

I use too little. It's been my Achilles heel since school days. But then again, I am under you tutelage master Jedi, teach me :p

Simply observe. One can learn much through observation. However, if necessary, I can grab one of your past posts, insert correct punctuation in a noticable fashion, and send it back to you as a PM for you to review and hopefully learn from.

Name: Laya de Theodora
Alias: Calista the Red
Age: 28
Hair: Black
Eyes: Amber

Weapon skills:
Daggers
One-handed swords
Throwing Knives

Miscellaneous skills:
Lockpicking
Climbing

Mini bio:

Laya was at one point an orphaned child living in the streets of Ebona, but she was taken in by a wealthy business man named Antonio de Theodora (who had no children of his own at the time) and strove to have her educated. Despite having everything she could ever want, and plenty of potential suitors when she came of age, Laya fell hard for a handsome vagabond named Villon that was part of a dangerous crime organization called the Gang of Four Shells, and together they robbed public offices, churches and private estates, as well as engaged in numerous street fights with rival gangs.

The good times would soon end, however, when one of Villon's closest friends turned him in to the authorities, but they could not find Laya.

From a distance Laya witnessed Villon's execution, and she has been on the run ever since. Laya has adopted numerous aliases over the years, and she is currently known as Calista the Red because of the small red ribbons that she attaches to her throwing knives.

As. Long, As; You! Dont? Type: Like- This, we"ll be okay.

A fine example, Tears. A fine example.

And just a note, DK and I have a...history if you will. I have a tendency to be OCD about various things such as punctuation and consistency, and sadly, he's been the target of my OCD on multiple occasions. I'm likely to correct him again in the future, but hopefully, it won't be publicly displayed.

Bah he's not that bad, just don't try to stand up to him. In this case the Jedi is 80% correct all the time :)

I read through the Wiki and it seems like I'll have to start character creation as I doubt what I had in mind would fit into the thread

Tears what happened to the other dragon RP you had in mind?

Whoop. Jade is the intillectual Spear user, Violet is the level-headed fist fighter, yeah.

Some else wanted Dark, so Blue-Sea for me.

I'm really excited about this. I loved the jade dragoon spirit and its selection in hosts. Always intelligent and their skill with a spear I myself know a good amount of spear and bo-staff moves. I'm so excited to be the host of the green tusked dragon!

I see. Then I am making a mistake by staying up to chat when I should be heading to bed. It's almost one in the morning and I have an 8 AM class.
