The Humvees aren't armored!
The Humvees aren't armored!
It's Bush's fault!
Why didn't he plan ahead?
His lack of plans (especially an exit strategy!) are getting our people killed!
Impeach! Impeach! Idiot! Idiot!
From our female silver star winner:
The Humvees are all armored, but the Jihadists and Ba'athists are simply using bigger bombs.

Anyone want to buy a used Humvee unable to perform either its intended mission or its current mission? Too heavy for the former, to light for the latter...

;) ;)

Is the press yapping about that again?

Dolts.

No, just the comments about the more powerful bombs got me to thinking...

If the insurgents had them all along, why hold on to them?

If they are new, from whence did they originate?

Tehran?

The rumor is rampant that Iran shields and harbors bin Laden.

From France, Germany, and Russia...

The Jihadist wackjobs used the new French and Russian anti-tank weapons against the M-1s early on in the theater of operations...

That was my guess when he popped up just before the elections. The drum beat is getting stronger though.

Are they just using more explosive? Or are they getting smarter about the construction? I haven't seen any 'debrief' data from a reliable source yet.

Ishmael

I find it hard to belive they held on to the weaponry saving it up for a rainy day.

I am a Jihadist. I am convinced the Americans will cut and run if I can manage to inflict some bloody losses on them and I have a pile of big bombs and a pile of little bombs, so I say to myself, I'll use up the little bombs first...

Now, that doesn't seem to be logical, so I have to assume they are new weapons to the theater.

;) ;)

BTW~ Everyone forgets that the Hummer is the replacement for the M-151 JEEP and the M-37 WEAPONS CARRIER! Either were hardly considered an armored vehicle in three conflicts!

I agree, I haven't seen anything substantial on it either.

Just kinda musing on a slow day...

I could talk about California earthquakes, but we've had more here in the last 2-3 years than they have had and no one wanted to talk about that, so I settled on the explosives story for something to talk about.

It was either that or the two-headed pussy and I decided that it was for someone a helluva lot smarter than me to try and make a thread that sounded half-way original. So far, it seems, no one is up to that particular task!

LC, I don't know how many times I tried to put that point across but when the hate GW crowd gets to going, you can't reason with them.

The humvees weren't armored because GW is an idiot.
You support GW because you're an idiot.
How do I know I'm not an idiot?
Because I hate GW!
Idiot!

Does anyone remember the bio scare when the wacks set off the IED that contained trace amounts of poison?
You figure they'd be knee deep in that stuff raining down on the government buildings in Baghdad by now....

A bag of rags fighters with a 6 year old mentality in religion, living like they were in the 14th Century, fighting against a 21st century army...

To their credit they have garnered urbane, intelligent, liberal allies the world over...

Take Senator Durbin, for example.

Anyone remember what grave offence Trent Lott committed that was so bad that he had to step down from his leadership post?

Since there are no similar cat-calls against Durbin from the same group that excoriated Lott, I have to assume that they're jiggy with our boys being no better off than Nazis, Soviets, or Pol Pot's gentler, more lovable brand of communism...

In short, nothing's changed since 1972.

I hear you. I still haven't found any 'hard' intel.

Improvised 'shaped charges' would give the impression of a larger device without actually having a larger explosive content. The press keeps yapping about them being larger, but given their track record who the hell knows?

They've rolled up the ratlines from Syria but what was in the pipeline before the ops began? And then, as you say, there's Iran. And I'm wondering if they're feeling emboldened enough to risk having their fingerprints found on that stuff?

Each explosive leaves a unique fingerprint behind in the form of the chemical residue. Forensically you can determine where it was manufactured and damn near the lot number. They aren't cooking the stuff up in the kitchen sink, yet.

dolf, that's Pookie's purpose. I don't want to step on any toes.

Another thing about Durban's rant. If he read that to me, I wouldn't think about Hitler, Stalin, or the Khmer Rouge. They didn't have rap back then and is he saying rap is a bad thing?

He should run that one by his constituency...

Iran is mere months away from feeling bold enough to start a Holy War...

They'll win.

The Democrats are already engaged in Holy War against the only religion that has ever successfully stood up to the Islamic sword.

Relax. It's TIC...

;) ;)

.. or is it.

Oh, I don't know about that bro. It was the Mongols that destroyed Alamut and all its inhabitants.

Ishmael

:D :D :D

Just sayin'...

He should be more sensitive to our "diverse" cult-cha!

ok...but it'd make more sense if i knew what a humvee was.

Yeah, and what's the Horde managed since then save a few credit card commercials...?

:D

It's a general purpose military vehicle loved by the stars of Hollywood for its prestige and hated by the stars of Hollywood because too many OTHER people are driving the gas-guzzlers and destroying our environment...

That about covers it.

;) ;)

Actually there's a Mongolian contigent in Iraq right now. Interesting, what?

But what should be there is about 40,000 Han Chinese.

Ishmael

Oh, the Han will be there soon enough. They're in no freakin' hurry. When it comes to things like that, the Middle Kingdom is all Mick Jagger...

Time, time, time, is on my side!
Yes it is...

I put my bid in on the Toyota version equipped with some old Russian Rocket launchers. It'll stand up better to ther KANSAS desert! Cheaper too...
