Funny I just saw this on Yahoo. I agree 100% this woman lost her child in a careless moment the kind of stupid little thing that we have all been guilty of. She has lost a child and will be grief and guilt stricken for the rest of her life you need to throw jail time at her?

Meanwhile back at the farm Casey Anthony walks free.

Sometimes it isn't the law that is an ass

its the people charged with enforcing it. If you live in a jurisdiction where judges are elected, get to know the candidates and then go out to vote. If your judges are appointed, let the officials who do the appointing know what you think of their appointments. All too often seats on the bench are given as rewards to a candidate's supporters or party favorites.

Pay attention to races for prosecutor. Its easy to blame a jury for a bad result, but in all cases a prosecutor decided to take a case to trial, based on the evidence the State as in it's possession. Prosecutors and judges often have discretion. Juries, on the other hand, are charged with determining the facts and applying the applicable law.
