The Last Green Lanterns - OOC

Of all the green lanterns, the greatest were always from earth; Hal Jordon, Guy Gardener, Kyle Raynor & John Stewart. It is also true that there greatest enemies are from them; Sinestro, Manhunters and Parralax.

Somehow the Oans are dying; and the Green Lanterns are being picked off one by one, and now its up to a small group of them to save the day....and ultimately, the Universe.


The green lanterns are the intergalatic police force. Taken from every race in the universe they swear to protect. Their weapons are the power rings, objects powerful enough to form whatever the wearer wishes, their power source, the green lanterns they are given.

Basically the above is the story, we will play a mixed race team of Green Lanterns, who are fighting to save everything.

RULES
1 - No Martians, Kryptonians, Czarnians, Oans, Daxamites, 5th Dimensional Imps or New Gods.
2 - No Humans - This is because Earth Governments banished them from the planet.
3 - Original Characters only.
4 - One one of each race allowed.

Why are the Oans dying? Why are Green Lanterns banished from earth? And even though they are banished, how does that stop a human from being inducted into the Corps? Do our characers have to be original or can they be pre-existing GLanterns? Can we make existing non-human DCU characters into GLanterns (i.e. can i be a Superman GL or a Wonder Woman GL or a Martian Manhunter GL or even a Metal Man GL?)

What is the setting? What version of the GLCorps and what era of the DCU? Pre or Post Infinite crisis? Pre or Post Sinestro Corps War? Are there other spectrum Lanterns and if so, which ones? What exactly are the practical limits of a power ring?

Can we have private lives beyond the Corps? What are our goals, so we know when we win this game. What are our enemies goals, for that matter?

Okay, Answers;

1) Why the Oans are dying is something that the characters need to find out.

2) They are banished from earth, due to there behaviour with regards to some recent earth acvtivity (I can remember the exact reason)

3) Human induction is not allowed...it was a term that earth's government made when they banished the GL from earth

4) Our characters have to be Original in all but race/species I'm sure thats mentioned in the rules.

5) The Setting is the modern version, post sinestro war, and there are currently Blue and Red lanterns as well...with perhaps another spectrum behind the problems (hehe - Only i know the answer)

6) You can have private lives outside the corps, but this will take place when we are all on duty (originally at least)

7) The first goal is to find out whats killing the Oans and stop it, if people are happy with the thread after that then i will carry on and start another story for our characters. As for the enemies goals, if i said that, it'd give away who is doing it.

8) Only character per player.

True... Then again, the idea of a Daxamite GL is certainly appealing and it might work out if RPed with enough skill. same with Kryptonians, as there seem to be tons f them hanging out in the DCU currently.

I still have outstanding questions, but as it seems like you plan on this being a mystery I'll let them wait. I'll hang out and see if this thread attracts any more players before I make up a character profile.

One other race you might want to ban is the Daxamites.

Goose7 - Basically to join, all you have to do is post a bio, for you character, I'll be posting mine in a short while if you want a basis.

While i remember, the practical limits are as thus....Other rings are just as strong, they can create nothing bigger than a double decker bus, and battery strength and life will be at the players discretion, unless i decide you've used it for far too long without charging, at which point i'll let you know.

Appearance: Humanoid, Green Skinned, Long Blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. Not extremely muscular, but not fat. Wears the traditional GL uniform. Is relatively attractive.
Age: 21
Natural Abilities: Lyrl possess's a level eleven intelligence, and is a good inventor.

History:

Lyrl grew up on Colu, home of Brainiac 5, BRAINIAC & Vril Dox. When he was 18 he was found by the ring of a local green lantern who had just died, becuase of his immense willpower, which stemmed from his almost obsessive compulsive need to finish projects through to completion.

Though he has now finished his training, he has not returned to Colu, preferring to stay on Oa, where he goes where he is needed.

Personality :

Lyrl is a brilliant genius, though, when it comes to socialising, he is a complete and utter idiot.

Name: Yena Trekali
Species: Durlan
Homeplanet: Durla
Appearance: Humanoid, Orange Skinned, with petite short antenaie forming a "V" at the top of the bridge of he nose, Long darker orange hair worn loose. Not extremely muscular, but very fit. Wears the GL uniform honoring Guy Gardner. To humans and other baseline hominid races she is exoticly beautifull. In her base form she is a rarest beauty to her own species.

Age: 47 (Has worn the ring for twenty plus years now.) Looks to be just out of her teens.

Natural Abilities: Durlans are shapechangers of the basest order, and as such age really means little to nothing to them. Neither does disease or dismemberment. It hurts them but not enough to stop them for long. After all, a few good hearty meals and the materials needed to replace the lose of mass are aquired. If a Durlan is too torn up they become unable to "repair" the damage they have taken.

History: Yena is one of the kind of Lanterns you don't want to cross. She strartetd the fresh faced girl of 19, and has seen many atrocities. She is a hard and callous woman who is capable of going overboard and has been repremanded on at least two occasions for using excesive force.

Personality :Yena's personality is hard to catagorize. It is as fluid as her form. But she has seen the Corps being denigrated and depowered since she has been given a ring. Durlans on thw whole like to stay fluid to any situation, but Yena's attitude is hard. She full well bought into the beliefs of the Corps and has seen that worn away over time. In a modern Earth analogy Yena is the good cop. She doesn't trust her fellow Lanterns easily.

Nickname: the Engineer
Species: Teban
Home Planet: Tebis
Age: 48
Appearance: Tall and humanoid, with orange tinted skin and buzz cut dark bronze hair. Has three cybernetic jacks on each side, grafted to his ribs. Also has a jack behind his left ear, into which he places thumb drive sized implants that allow him to interface with different computer operating systems. Is very thin, though not anorexic. Wears the traditional GL uniform with spaces on the sides for his jacks. Isn't very attractive.

History: As a young child on the warlike planet Tebis, Baran was chosen to serve in the Engineering Corps. After Years of study and cybernetic enhancement, he has extensive knowledge of engineering and computer systems, as well as the ability to interface with them. After graduating from the academy, he was sent to war on a distant planet. The war went wrong and he was captured when the ring found him. That was two years ago.

Since then he has barely scraped by basic training, graduating near the bottom of his class. But he has much potential.

Personality: Introverted, witty and caustic, Baran says he just wants to be left alone. Whether or not that is what he really wants is yet to be seen.

Abilities: As well as his Lantern powers, Baran has an extensive knowledge of computer systems and a general knowledge of engineering. He has the ability to intuitively interface with any computer system, if given enough time. And, like the rest of his species, he also posesses a keen strategic mind.
 
I like it, and i predict that a rivalry might develop between our 2 characters...**** :)
 
well we have 3 atm, i was hoping for 4 or 5 players when i created this, so we when we get at least one more player, i will start the IC

Name: Imperiex 1318
Species: Imperiex Probe
Homeplanet: None
Appearance: Taller and bulkier than a man, 1318's body is similar in appearance to it's creator, but much smaller in size. It's mechanical head, however, is quite different, having a design not too dissimilar from that of a mantis. The traditional gold of it's Imperex-style body have been replaced with green, and the lantern symbol is built into it's chestplate
Age: unknown
Natural Abilities: matter-energy conversion, independant flight

History: The one thousanth, three hundredth and eighteenth Probe to be created by Imperiex to act as his agent of entropy, 1318 went about it's first mission with quite a degree of hesitation. Unlike the others, when directed to hollow out a planet for Imperiex to destroy, it questioned the instruction. In it's mind, it questioned it's true nature as an agent of cosmic chaos, as it saw itsself. Why, it reasoned, should it carry out orders for which it was created? Surely, that would imply order, the very antithesis of chaos. That thaught made 1318 change it's goal. As a true agent of chaos, it would seek out the most ordered group it could find and prevent the destruction that it's siblings, creator, and all like-minded beings would bring. Of course, this did not go down well with Imperex and the other Probes, so 1318 had to flee. Time passed before 1318 found the Green Lanterns and petitioned for membership.

Personality : Very methodical and ordered in it's thinking, 1318 sees itsself as a bastion of order and law against chaos and anarchy. It is very good with all aspects of computing and robotics, and tries hard to integrate and understand other cultures, with varying levels of success.
