OOC: This is an open thread. Players take the role of the living spirit of different nations (characters named and styled after the ancient spirit of the nation), called together to face a coming cataclysm (think apocalypse type of thing). The ooc thread for this where you can post new characters can be found by clicking here
IC: The enormous cavern glowed with the light of a billion glowing crystals. It was at once simple and magnificent. It was the truth of the centre of the Earth, which man could never reach. Lying beyond the mere physical substance of the molten core, this was the sacred temple where the spirits of the lands met when they had need to converse. From this place they could reach any and all parts of the Earth as needed. It stood, unused, kept secure only by the world spirit, Pangaea, for aeons, for the modern world of man had little time for spirits. But the time had arrived when they would be needed. For the end, predicted with only partial clarity by religions from the beginning of time was coming.
The final battle would be as near as the world had ever come to a war of gods, for it would involve the spirits of the lands themselves. It would be savage. It would be brutal. Many would die and only the forgotten spirits would be the difference between life and the destruction of the entire world. Few of the lands' spirits had woken to the call yet: Japan, of course, Germany, ancient Eire and Australia. Each had an age of experience to read the signs of impending doom. Yet the world spirit doubted they would be enough.
Already, the first event of the cataclysm was unfolding. Wormwood. The bitter star, to poison the waters. It was arriving now in the form of a radioactive meteor shrieking to Earth. The humans did not even know of it yet, as it was coming from an unwatched part of the sky, but they would be aware soon. It would strike the city of London in just 36 hours.
OOC: Ok, guys - you know the situation, and I'm giving you some leeway to define your chars as you go along. I'm gonna be out of town for a day or so, but feel free to take control of this event, or the clear up. Converse, get your spirits re-acquainted with each other. And remember the annoyance that no other land's spirit has joined you yet. Oh, and Australia - I don't have a name for your spirit yet.
