See, you can't keep Kobe down for long. Sorry, Sixer fans, you had a great year but I don't think you'll win any more in this series. :D

OOC: damn....still....Lakers will not have to go back to Staples anymore this season...:)

Sorry guys, I can't let you get away with this. Shaq should have been fouled out of the game. But, I guess the ref's didn't feel the same way that I did. lol

As for Kobe, was it my imagination that towards the end he got a bit flustered and was losing his composure?

Don't count us out, not yet anyway. There is a lot of spirit left in all of those injured players. You see how hard the Sixer's play with all of the injuries, could you imagine if they were all healthy?

As for Sunday, don't underestimate the power the home crowd will give the Sixer's. They thrive on that!

Still, you can't deny that we're giving the Laker's a run for their money. We may have gotten a little out of control in the end, however, if all of the free throws had made it into the basket, it would have been an entirely different game.

Just wait until Sunday!!!

Have a great day, all, and please humor me with my opinions.
WildHoney (a die hard Sixer's fan until the end!)

TRUST ME HONEY...THERE ARE MORE DIEHARD SIXERS FANS AROUND HERE THAN LAKERS FANS WHO ARE JUST FANS BECAUSE OF A GREAT SEASON!!

NO way Lakers win it all in Philly.

The crowd alone will scare the Lakers into playing poorly, but wait to you see what that crowd does for the Sixers.

Personally, I was expecting the Lakers to hammer them. They had to regain some of the pride they lost in the first game... what better way than to kick the crap out of the 76ers before heading back to Philly?

Didn't happen, though. They hung tough all the way.

I'm thinking that's a good sign for the 76ers. I think this is gonna be a pretty good series, after all. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Thank you Hunny and Tony!

It was nice of you both to reply. Thank you for cheering the Sixer's on.

Have a glorious day, today, and a wonderful Sunday.

Oh, yes, and thank you to the Laker's fans, too. I don't want you all to think I'm a mean person. You should all have a nice day, too. lol

Hmmmmmm....you Lakers fans are rather predictable. Even the headlines on ESPN, and some of the LA papers (the online versions of course...) were rather predictable. Headlines touting "The Sixers Never Had A Chance." Were the reporters and scribes, not to mention the Lakers fans watching the same game as I did? I said before the game that Kobe would bounce back, he did. But the fact that you guys were fighting like school children amoungst yourself spoke volumes of the Laker "confidence." I think it's more Laker "cockiness" than anything else. The FU Center beckons on Sunday. Gonna be a rather rowdy scene here. Will Iverson and Raja Bell continue to follow the rules of the Shaquille O'Neal School of Free Throw Shooting? Doubtful. Will the Sixers be charged? Yep. Oh, and if you think the Sixers were stepping it up, and punching the gas in a hostile enviornment, wait till they're here. No Lakers titles in Philly. Sorry to dissapoint. 7 full games will be required here, but it's ok, we've been through that gauntlet already this post season, twice. I'm actually dissapointed, I've been to almost every Philadelphia home post season game this year (I missed game 1 vs Indiana, and also game 1 vs Milwaukee) and I don't have Finals tickets. :( Oh well, I've had my deposit in for Season Tickets for next year for quite some time already, so this won't be an issue for next season. GO SIXERS!!!

mfucker: I hope we do close it out in Philly 'cuz I don't want any more riots here like we had last year. Knowing certain Laker fans though, they'll probably cause trouble anyway.

WildHoney: We see the fouls as we want to see them. Considering how Shaq gets pummeled every game, I think he deserves to push back a little sometimes. WHoney. ccucumber and tony_g-Home crowd is important but an adrenaline rush only goes so far when you're up against a better team. :D Also WHoney, don't worry about being mean. Why is it that the nicest people in the world always think they're being mean?:)

The Sixer's fate seems to rest with Iverson. If he scores 40+ they win, if not they lose. He's had his good game this series and the Laker trio guarding him seem to have him in check now. Kobe, flustered or not, will be steady and Shaq will continue to dominate. Home court advantage will carry the Sixers for a quarter or so, but then it'll settle down and the best team will prevail.

And Naked Hunny, no bandwagoner here! I live in L.A. and I'm with the Lakers win or lose!

And Coolcucumber, you're going to talk about Laker cockiness with a punk like Iverson on your team. Pahleeeze!!

 (Jack Nicholson at the game, he he)

Mars,

I love watching Jack Nicholson at the games because he makes some very strange faces, even moreso than Iverson. ha!

Please believe all of us Philly fans that this is such a great honor to be playing the Laker's. I think, though, that no one expected the Sixer's to play the way they are. Everyone discounted the strengh we have and the desire that each player on that team possesses to play to the best of their ability. This is not to take away anything from the Laker's. They are a wonderful team, yes, and they play a beautiful game of basketball. The Sixer's, on the other hand, don't always look pretty out on the court, but they manage to get the job done in the best way they can.

You have to admit, though, that we're really giving you one great series. I don't think you expected that from our team.

Anyway....my thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts on this subject. I never dreamed in a million years that I would be able to sit at my computer and talk basketball with others who feel the same way as I do or vie for the attention of the opposers. ha! I'm having a blast. Thanks for that.

Now, I'm outta here for the rest of the day. See ya.

WildHoney,

I do give the Sixers credit. Earlier in the year I didn't think the Lakers would have a prayer of beating them. I'm just amazed at how the Lakers have turned it on in the playoffs so I'm all pumped up. The Sixers should be proud, though, and believe me, if they somehow beat the Lakers I'll be the first one to post and congratulate them(not gonna happen, though :D) BTW, where are all the Laker fans?? Am I the only one?

Well, I wasn't going to respond to the disrespect to Iverson, but I feel it's necessary. So he deosn't feel like wearing suits to post game interviews...better than wearing that ridiculous hat that Shaq did. So he doesn't sound polished when he talks, like he came from an upperclass white upbringing...he didn't. So his idea of being real, and staying true isn't the same as yours. Big deal. Maybe he's a punk in your eyes, but when the spotlight is on every little thing that you do 24-7, and you have no one else to deflect it on your team, things happen. Was his previous approach in years past questionable? Yes, it was. But did he respond like a man? Is he the leader he said he would be? Is he becoming more and more responsible as time goes on? Yes, to all of the above. So he wasn't ready to be mature right away. Not everyone is, it's how you respond to criticism, and show heart, something not only he, but the entire Sixers team demonstrates. Please, think whatever you want about your team, but no one singled out anyone from yours, and disprespected them by calling names. GO SIXERS!!!

All I am going to say on the topic is SEVEN GAMES, whoever wins. The Sixers aren't gonna go quietly into the night, nor are the Lakers going to fold. Should be an interesting series.

You have no idea. The First Union Center is not an ordinary home court crowd.

Tony, couldn't agree with you more. Whoever wins will know they played the other team........guaranteed.

ccumber-

I hear ya. Point taken. For the record, his non-white upbringing had nothing to do with my calling him a punk. I know plenty of rich white people who I think are punks too. I'm not a big fan of his image but he's entitled to it if that's who he wants to be. With the position he's in, though, he has a chance to influence a lot of people in a positive way so I hope he takes advantage of it. Most athletes don't nowadays. And I agree with you on Shaq's hat, that was embarrasing! We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Mars,
Sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound snappy or anything. I just don't like when people get labeled. Sure Allen's done some stuff he shouldn't have in the past, sure he's been in trouble. I just don't like when he gets slammed for his past, or his "image." Sure, some of his looks are over the top for what alot of people are used to seeing, but, it's real, and it's out there. As for the jab at Shaq's hat...sorry, I couldn't help it...he's so big, and that hat looked so out of place. Well, there's a game on TV tonight between our teams. Here's hoping everyone involved plays hard, and doesn't get hurt. GO SIXERS!!!

I think I'm just gettin' old, dude! When I was 20 I'd be totally behind a guy like Iverson, but now that I'm 30 I think I've lost my edge. He's gotta go through his growing pains like everyone else and he's a hell of a player, so I hope things work out for him. And Shaquille I just think is funny! I think the hat and stuff like that is mainly for comedic effect. I find him entertaining. May the best team win!

Well

I'd like to say may the best team win...but I would be lying.

GO SIXERS!

Good morning, Everyone...

7:30 tonight - Be There! What I miss more than anything is watching the "after the game stuff" on the local television. My sister watches all of that on Comcast. Since I don't live in the area anymore.....I am not part of that luxury.

For all of you Sixer's fans, Eric Snow is originally from a town not far from where I live now. He was raised in the Canton, Ohio area.

I'm going to nominate all of us on this thread for the "Sixth Man Award". We all deserve it for our loyalty and our love of the sport.

Oh, by the way, not to lessen the exuberance of this thread, but the Phillies beat Pedro yesterday. It's been a wild ride in Philly of late. YES!

Have a great day, all, and don't forget to watch the game tonight. Whatever the outcome, you can be sure it will be forever remembered.

See ya,
WildHoney (it proves you can't take the Philly out of the girl! ha!)

Anyone bold enough to make predictions? Predict the winner and how many points Shaq and Iverson will have.
I say Lakers by 6 or 7 points. Shaq will have 28, Iverson will have 38.

I was born in New York then moved to L.A. so disliking Philly sports teams has always been in my blood, but I must give them credit these days. The Phillies are a huge surprise(unfortunately, since I'm still a Mets fan). I thought they might fade but it looks like they're for real. Don't get fitted for the World Series ring yet though, cause it looks like Seattle will chew everyone else up and spit them out.

WildHoney, I'll be watching tonight but I can't take Marv Albert seriously anymore so I'm going to turn the sound down and listen to Laker announcer Chick Hearn on the radio!

I set up a thread for it. It's called prognostications.

Mars,

I can remember one time going to the Vet and sitting in the midst of a bunch of Met's fans. It made for a very crazy couple of hours. During the 6th or 7th inning, there was some kind of brawl and several Met's fans were ejected from the stadium. I believe they were trying to rip the seats from the concrete floors. ha! You guys really gave us a good show.

See you all later....have a great rest of the night and GO SIXER'S!
