The Jazzwoman... [Closed for nakedplay and pinkjessie69 only]

The setup is simple for this RP. I'm a Jazz singer at a nightclub and the other one or two people (1 woman, 1 man) are a fan of mine (or a couple that is a fan of mine) who have come to congratulate me after a complete set.

Marianna (me)
Age: 23
Of Brazillian decent, I spend my nights singing and sometimes bartending at the local jazz club called "45 Bar."

Laura
Age: 27
A jazz professor at the local university, she plays the trumpet sometimes, at night, at other local jazz clubs.

Frank
Age: 29
A day trader and accountant who enjoys spending his Friday or Saturday evenings, relaxing at the club listening to the musicians playing.

Anything else I left out, feel free to decide for yourself. Just nothing that doesn't make sense.

We can can have just two, or we can start with two and move to three, or start with three, however it works out.

Marianna stepped off the stage. She was tired from a long night of singing, but she felt happy, because she knew that she had done her best. The audience had enjoyed the show at least, and she was happy that the record executive had chosen tonight to come and listen to the amature talent. Maybe she would get lucky and land the big recording contract! Everything was going her way tonight.

She opened the door to the dressing room in the back and sat down smiling. There was a glass of scotch waiting for her as she always had after her evening of singing. She couldn't believe that she was only 23 and her whole life was about to click. Then there came a knock on the dressing room door...

Laura had got the night off to go see her friend Marianna sing at the local amateur jazz bar in town. 45 bar was hopping tonight. There were more patrons than was custom. Laura had played her before and visited often to see some of her students play. But, tonight was about her friend Marianna. She highlighted the night with a couple nice renditions of some Billie Holiday classics. She was amazing how she could so get into her music and just belt out some toons.
Laura, wearing her short black mini dress with black stockings and heels stood patiently waiting for people walk by so she could get backstage. She flung her hair and adjusted her black frame glasses and nudged her way to Marianna's room.
She gently knocked on the door, hoping that Marianna would be happy for the surprise. Laura carried one single red rose in her hand. Laura knocked again and waited for a response.

"Laura!" Marianna smiled happily. It was good to see her friend standing in front of her. "Come in, come in! I didn't even realize that you had come to see me tonight!" They exchanged friendly kisses on the cheek and she looked at Laura. "Tell me, how has life been?" She looked into Laura's eyes, wondering if there hadn't been a specific reason for her coming.

"Life has been pretty good, the semester is over, Thank God!! I have some time to myself again. My favorite time of the year." She replied. "You are looking great, are you working out? and your voice sounded perfect tonight."

"Oh its so good to see you." She leaned in towards Marianna and gave her a tight embrace.
"I was lonely tonight, and I thought I would come hear my favorite Diva, belt out some good heart pounding jazz and blues tunes. That cello player is great, that was out there tonight. Cute little dimples and all. I might have to give him some lessons for free." Laura giggles at the idea.

Laura stepped back for a moment, "Wow, you really are looking good hon. So, anything good on the horizons for you this summer? You had quite the full house out there tonight."

FRANK

Having just flown in from a long week on the road, work always took so much time away from having fun. Walking into the club, and making my way to the bar, needing an ice cold drink, it had been a while. Leaning over the bar to the cute bartender, "Captain and Coke, please". She smiled and made my drink, from the looks of it pretty strong just the way I like it, and I tipped her to let her know she sdid well.

Looking around this place was hopping with people, glad I had stopped in, Looking thru paper and seeing that Marianna was singing tonight. I had not seen her in quite some time. Drifting back in time thinking about the small clubs and holes that she sang her heart out too, for just a hand full of unappreciative drunks. I am glad things are looking up for her, finally.

Finding a seat in the back as she makes her way on stage, ever the beauty, she looks as good as I remember. closing my eyes listening to her voice and being transported back in time when we were almost inseparable. I believe that voice of hers has gotten even better.

I was just here really to listen to her sing, but I think that maybe I will surprise her and say hello. How long has it really been?

Frank

As Frank's 6'0 Scottish frame walked into the 45 Club, he could see that it was a busy night to come. Either this jazz singer was really good, or there was a party he had not been invited to. As he searched for a table seat near to the stage a gorgeous woman in a short black dress caught his attention, after a short stare (which he averted after a moment of eye contact), he recognized as a trumpet player he'd seen around town. He soon found a seat three tables over from the woman, bust still at the front of the stage.

It had been a rough week at work for Frank. The office had been a wreck with post due taxes; the only way he had been able to get through it was by listening to his billie holiday and chick corea cds he'd been bringing to work and playing on his computer. He'd been in love with jazz since college, since his roommate (who went on to be a major club owner and industry elite in the city) had first played Return to Forever for him, and they started a cover band with Frank on keyboards).

This Saturday night at the 45 Bar was a hoppin place. He had heard from a coworker that there was a singer named Marianna that sang Billie Holiday songs on Saturday n ights, so he decided to leave straight from work have a few drinks and see if he could enjoy some music. When he had told his friend about this singer, he had told him to see if he was any good to give him a call and he could get her set up with a couple club dates in the city, with the easy opportunity to audition for labels if she was any good.

This Marianna girl was a great singer! She not only knew the billie holiday songs well, but were able to interpret them powerfully and within the flow of the other instruments, including jazz cello. This performance had definitely been the highlight of his long week. He found his way back around to the dressing room (no one questions a businessman walking around like he owns the place) and knocked on the door.

Marianna became serious and looked at Laura for a second. "There was a record executive in the audience tonight. I might actually land a record deal if he thinks I was at all good." She tried to say it seriously, but then a big grin slipped over her face. "Oh who the hell am I kidding? I was great! I've never been so happy before!" She reached out and hugged Laura, embracing her for several long moments.

Marianna and Laura chatted for a few more minutes in which she leanred that Laura was going to be taking the Jazz Band at the university up to New York next fall for a jazz festival and that she would be playing at a club next Friday, and would Marianna come and listen. But then, there came another knock on the door. That would be Frank. She'd seen him sitting and watching her perform. He wasn't as goood at blending in as Laura was. "Laura, excuse me for a second." Marianna opened the door slowly...

Laura

Maybe that is the record exec. That would be great if I was there for your first big break.

Marianne slowly sauntered over to the door and began to open it.....

Frank stood at the door, as Marianna had expected. "Frank!" She hugged Frank tightly. "How long has it been? It's great to see you! You really can't hide yourself as well as you think. I saw you watching the set." She looked at him and winked. "Oh! Right. Silly me." She turned to Laura and smiled. "Laura, this is Frank, an old friend of mine. Frank, this is Laura. We met shortly after I moved here while we were playing a gig together. And I know what you're thinking Laura, no, he's not a record executive." She chuckled and watched, as the two of her friends looked at each other, waiting for one of them to say something or otherwise make the first move.

"Hi there Frank, glad to meet you. Any friend of hers is a friend of mine." she smiled and shook his hand.

"So what did you think of my girl out there tonight? Sounded pretty damn on her vocals I thought. Hopefully, the record guy out there thought so too. So what brings you buth the 4 tonight?"

"Well, I hadn't seen Marianna for a while so when i got an opportunity to catch her show i did. I have to say you've gotten much better than when i first saw you, and you were pretty good then!" Frank says with a little grin.

He then turns to Lisa "I'm sorry i let you catch me checking you out earlier, but it seemed like you were ok with it, you think we could call it even?"

As he takes a step closer towards the women, he can feel a heat emanating from them, and can feel he'll have a problem on his hands soon.

looking for new talent was not always the easiest way to make a living, the travel could be brutal, and the hours terribly long. But when you stumbled onto a voice like this, all the troubles were well worth it.

Walking back to the dressing rooms, hoping that marianna was ready to take that next step in her career, she was a beautiful lady who had a ton of talent.

Knocking on the door, " Hello, I am Dave Steele, from Coitus Records."
