Penis envy, automotivized - it's nice to read you being honest for a change.

Closest I ever came to "a Shelby" was Carroll himself, helping build a run of 14 Indy cars from scratch (belly pans to engines to body pieces) for an outfit he co-founded. During that span, I did get to drive a legendary Cobra twice in vintage competition, and a couple of the Indy cars. The Indy cars were so badass, the sanctioning body banned them at the end of the season.

Alas, I've never owned a Cobra, an Indy car, or "a Shelby".

What was your point?

I worked with a guy that had a kit with a monster motor. Tons of power. Way too small for a someone as tall as myself.

It is not mine, it is the husband's. A 1986 1/2, that he has had since 1987. I have driven it but don't like to. It has nitrous and the clutch is hard. Plus if I ever dinged (smudged) it, I would be in trouble.

We go for drives in the summer in it and to car shows.

He stopped racing it awhile ago.

Fact------ I had the first 1965 Mustang fastback in our area. Only a HP 289 with the rally pack and stripe kit. Black, fun and couldn't keep clutches in it until the dealer found a heavy duty one.

Using the idea from the little Cobra I put a Chevy 327 in an Austin Healy Sprite and used the same Mustang side stripes.
