This is a closed thread for slippedhalo and myself.
Things were looking up for Charlie Pace. Well, besides Desmond having predicted his imminent and possibly unavertable death, that is. He was not as sullen and depressed as he had been lately--his adventure with Hurley and the VW bus helped changed that, but it was the day before that really brought him back. After lying to Claire as an excuse for why he couldn't help her catch the gulls, she had found about Desmond's premonitions and said to him:
"I'm not giving up you either, Charlie."
After this rather romantic moment, they had retired to Claire's shelter and fallen asleep together. In the morning, Charlie woke up earlier than her, and carefully extracted himself from the bed. Desmond may have ruined his picnic the day before, but there was nothing to suggest the same would happen today.
So he recreated yesterday's attempt almost perfectly, Sun and Jin were taking care of Aaron and Charlie set out a small plate of fruit by her bedside. The only difference was that instead of the larger picnic being "a short walk down the beach", it was a rather long walk down the beach, isolated from the camp.
Sitting down on the end of her bed, Charlie watched Claire sleep with a slight smile on his face, waiting for her to wake up.
