TVTropes.org, a wiki for "tropes"--themes, ideas or plot devices that appear frequently over the course of human creative output. From the page to the CD player to the silver screen; from Truth In Television to Lampshade Hanging, from Meet Cute to Unresolved Sexual Tension (to Perverse Sexual Lust, which is arguably more pertinent to our purposes!), this site has it all. Need to figure out what sort of new narrative technology is going round? This is the place!
(The only two things it is missing, so far: 1) an article on the Gold-Digger / MRS-degree archetype, though perhaps it's just named something different; and 2) a section on erotica tropes!)
Just, beware: due to The Tetris Effect, TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life. (Or at least your productivity.) (...Well, it might ruin your life: some people find it hard to enjoy reading fiction after learning to critique and deconstruct it.)
