The "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, and the new topic is: we seem to be back to cats

I have no experience, first hand at least, of the severity or duration of withdrawal. However, I hear it can be bitch with cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, or any other shit you shouldn't be putting into your body for temporary happiness.
Question for a friend - how long do withdrawal symptoms take to kick in?

Depends on the metabolism rate of the substance your friend is dependent on.

Generally they'll start presenting a few hours after you miss a regular dose. Around 12 hours after that, your friend will not be very functional.

Any amount of tapering is better than sprinting off the cliff. Sometimes you don't have a choice, of course. If it's benzos, tell your friend to be really careful and don't fuck around with trying to avoid the hospital.

If that was a sarcastic question, and probably it was, that's fine, you got me. I had to do it alone with no knowledge the first time because pharmacies are bags of shit with no empathy and chemical dependence is stigmatized to a mind-blowing degree. Nobody should have to go through that alone and unprepared.

My brain seems to have been on a caffeine induced stupor when I originally wrote my response. But I've fixed it now.
