The Hunter Chronicles

The wedding

"Do you Matthew Lawrence Hunter take Margareth Elisabeth Green as your lawfully wedded wife?"

He wouldn't pass out. Matt kept repeating that mantra and had been doing so all day. He wouldn't pass out. If he kept repeating it, it may be true. He was excited. He was terrified. He had done many dangerous things in his 28 years of living but right now this seemed to top all of that. He took a deep breath and stared into the green eyes of the woman he was about to marry.

Maggie Green. The most exciting woman he had ever met. Also the most dangerous one. The first time he met her was about a year ago. That meeting was explosive and not necessarily in a good way. Both Matt and Maggie was very strong, self dependant individuals. Both had been fighting to get the upper hand. The passion and love between them came as a chock to both of them. That was 2 months ago. After that it all happened very fast and now they were getting married.

"I do." Matt's voice don't give away his nervousness at all and the Elvis look alike that are wedding them seem pleased with the response. Matt are relieved that he actually managed to give a straight answer without the fainting he was afraid of.

"Do you Margareth Elisabeth Green take Matthew Lawrence Hunter as your lawfully wedded husband?" Elvis ask the beautiful woman.

Matt hold his breath but his gaze are locked on the woman in front of him. He feel sweat run down his back under the rented white tuxedo.

"I do." When he hear her response he feel his lungs working again.

"Then i pronounce you husband and wife and you can now kiss each other."

Matt smile relieved at his new bride and draw her in an embrace and kisses her while applauds are heard from the two witnesses Elvis had brought to the small chapel in Las Vegas.

Maggie Hunter

"Do you Matthew Lawrence Hunter take Margareth Elisabeth Green as your lawfully wedded wife?"

For a moment, Maggie thought he wasn't going to reply. The pause after the minister's words seemed to grow longer...and longer...
Her green eyes widened slightly as his looked down into them, silently urging him to reply one way or the other. They hadn't known each other long, whirlwind didn't come close to describing their relationship so far, they'd done so much together already and who knew what would lay ahead for them...

"I do."
Maggie's face broke into a smile as she tossed a lock of her dark hair back over her shoulder. Matt was like no other man she had met, strong and dangerous and yet fiercely protective...of her...and loving. He could be so loving when he wanted to be.

"Do you Margareth Elisabeth Green take Matthew Lawrence Hunter as your lawfully wedded husband?"
Maggie let her eyes roam over the man before her. Tall and broad shouldered, squeezed into a white tux that he was obviously uncomfortable in. His eyes watching her almost nervously.
"I do." She almost whispered.

"Then I pronounce you husband and wife and you can now kiss each other."
Maggie giggled as Matt took her in his arms and kissed her, her own arms rising around his neck to hold him close. They were married. They were joined now.
His hands sliding over her white gown, skimming over her curves beneath it.
"I love you Mr Hunter..." She whispered in his ear, sighing as he replied,
"I love you too...Mrs Hunter..."

It was true. He really loved her. For the first time in his life he had actually let a woman have access to his heart. It was nerve wrecking as well as overwhelming. It was strange that he had been so nervous about the whole marriage thing and then being so calm when he had her in his arms. To have her in his life was more than he ever could have hoped for. He had thought that the life he lived would keep him from love.

No woman would stand the dangers he was surrounded by. So he thought until he met Maggie Green. Neither of them had been looking for love but it just had found them quite unprepared for it.

"I wish we could go back to the hotel to be alone. " He sigh as he thought of getting her between the sheets.

"But i think Jackson have waited long enough." He lean down and kiss her deeply as a sign of what he wished instead of what they had to do.

A promise was a promise. Jackson was waiting for them at a restaurant not far from the chapel. He was the reason they where in Las Vegas. It was because of him they came here. That they married at the same time was because it was cheap and fast. Neither Matt or Maggie was willing to wait longer. Both knew that life had a way of getting in the way of their wants.

He lift his mouth from her and look her deeply in her eyes. That green color was almost mesmerizing to him. It was telling him of her Irish heritage.

"We will have our time later." He kiss her quickly again before he turn to the Elvis look alike minister.

"Thank you." He say with a smile and take the marriage certificate from the man. With a nod to the witnesses he turn to Maggie again.

Jackson Downey was an ex priest Matt had met a few years back. He knew that Maggie also had ran into the man a few times. He had became one of their few friends. If he needed to see them it was serious and he shouldn't have to wait to long.
