alright this is sort of from a story i began to write, it isn't as detailed as the full story, which is one hundred pages. but, it is a condensed version up to you all to kindle a flame and perhaps sway the way my book is going.

JIST OF THE STORY: a caravan of archeologists, and whoever, were hand selected by a tall curvy woman to accompany her on a safari to an unknown tomb of a great pharoah queen. since she was a wee child she heard exciting stories of the great queen, her grandmother, supposedly, thousands of years ago. she finally, after years of searching and researching was sold a map by an old woman who needed a loaf of bread while she strolled the poor streets of cairo. her father had given her the family business of archeology, queen Sopholoti, was her passion. but the curse of the tomb was well known.
SETTING:
Airport, Cairo Egypt. A tall curvy, well built, 5'11" woman. Her long sleek bronzed legs were adorned by short white shorts, brown leather boots, and a thin strapped blouse, her lack of clothing was due to the intense heat of the area. her long raven black hair was tied in a messy up do. her piercing green eyes were dark and her high cheekbones and regal nose suggested royalty. she impatiently looked at her watch. her cargo and the animals were to arrive only a half hour before her guests. and the cargo arrived forty-five minutes ago. maybe the curse already took effect.

(k...um...need travelors. archeologists. tourists, but remember you wer hand picked by her for this secret mission. need a native tour guide. thought maybe rolland could...or dirk13....or anyone really. you have to have a good reason why she picked you. hope ya'll like this story.)

i'm game

Art historian, emphasis on Egyptian cave paintings, reads hieroglyphics and has written on all sorts of artifacts, symbolism of tomb art, speaks several languages. Sort of an Indian Jones type.

I arrive in plain khaki's a well worn tan jacket covering my shirt. dusting off my hat my dark brown hair cropped short.
My brown eyes take in my employer, as I walk up to her my bag slung over shoulder a bull whip on other.

I glance at my callused hand before holding it out, "Nice to finally meet you Lava. It's a privelege to get to look for such a find."

details etc
5'2"
full figured
glasses
sort of librarian meets Indian Jones look

Robert Phoenix

(Yeah I know, this is the third thread I join with that name, but I kinda like it. Besides, I don't confuse my names that way.)
Tall, short black hair, green eyes. 20 years old. He proved an excellent scholar of Archeology, especially on the Egyptian sector. Despite his young age, he is a an expert on Egyptian History anfd Mythology, and speaks Ancient Egyptian almost currently. He still lacks experience, though...
IC:

Robert trudged through the airport, struggling with his giant luggage. Maybe he should have found a soft-cover edition of Pharaos and Gods: Analysis of Egyptian Mythology.
He caught sight of his employer and went over to her.
"Uh, I hope I'm not too late," he said. "Had some problems this morning..."

Da Ditz

OOC: <grins> Never really played a ditz before and someone hasta be the ban of everyone else's life on this trip! So, Im it. <winks> May I be the one who everyone curses loudly during the day and moans for delightfully upon the fall of night.

Devlyn Aria Fallon Skye Wynters of the Skye Islands
Ditzy rich girl who was the only beloved child of the Skye Wynters. She loves adventure and thinks she can do anything she puts her mind to. She has a masters in History and Foreign languages. Fluent in Egyptian hieroglyphics and history and facinated by pyramids and all kinds of mythology. Are the pyramids made by man? It's the aliens that did it! Right?...... She is in shape and has gone on many hiking/camping/ski trips before.

24 years old
Dark brown hair, shoulder length, wavy, with layered bangs, sides... Hazel eyes, 5'4", well toned body with full breasts, small waist, curvy hips and nicely round butt. :p

IC:

"Hallos! Hallos!" Dev cheerfully shouts at the group as she approaches. "I'm Devlyn Wynters. Wonderful to meet you, Ms. (er name)! I think this trip will be great fun, don't you?" She bubbles out enthusiastically as she grabs the short dark brown haired woman's hand and pumps it with vigor. Not noticing the confused look on the woman's face, Dev turns around and bounces away to get the baggage man to pull in her pile of luggage by the group. Talking non-stop with the baggage man, she returns to the small irregular circle and beams. "So where are we off to from here?"

"To the heart of Egypt, of course," He stuck out a hand, "to the Egyptian legend."
She laughed, nerviously, and too the hand. Blore graciously kissed her delicate fingers, before looking into her eyes.
"Beauty, as of I have never seen before."
She smiles.
Blore walks past her, and kisses his Camel. "Beauty, what are you doing here, you are supposed to be with the rest of the camels."
She sniffed heartily, Blore laughed.
"I see, well here you go."
He took out a little treat and gave it to the camel.
(one question, you forgot to mention what year it was? There is an aiport, but that could mean anywhere from the 1940's to the 22nd century, you mind narrowing it down a little?)
"What are you doing here?"
Blore took out a gun (don't know the time period, so I can't say what kind of gun) I am here, just in case she finds what you are all looking for."
Lava (I assume thats your name, you never said one) shook her head, "Be a little nicer Blore, we are going to be together for a long time."
He nodded, "Yes ma'am. I apologize, but this isn't going to be some walk in the desert, if thats what you are thinking."
"We all know what it's going to be like."
Her voice stopped Blore, he looked back at the camel.
"Come, the other stuff is this way, step lively now, camel dung is rampent here at the airport."

Vincent Calorne

I was from america, but i lived in egypt for quite a time now, i knew the landscape, and was great with timples, ruins, and many other things, i had escavated with many of the best archiologests, i was prepared for the trip already, i had my P-51 holstered in a pouch by my arm, i had a large black robe on, it covered up my face and body from the raging winds, and i found black was best for me, i had a white one, but for now, the black was good do to that it was thicker than the white one, and sand storms were due. I quietly waited for them to arrive to get the rest of the equipment, i knew this would be a great trip, i had heared it was to a queens temple, i had hopped it was a great one, i had no idea who it was though, i wasn't given that information yet. I had all my stuff ready, i waited outside by several large bags that contained my insturments that i needed, and might need.

OOC: a 6'2 man, muscular from rebuilding ruins, and moving large rocks that blocked enterances, brown hair, and brown eyes, he was quite a man to rekon with, but loved the trips out into the desert, especially when it was for a dig.

HOLA!

(wow, what a response. alrighty, three gals and three gents. good odds. but regardless. the year is 1950's and yes my name is lava. nicknamed for my temper and my mysterious ways of getting around. welcome all. and this is a serious expedition for a while. )

LAVA:
having lived in egypt all my life i knew what to expect, but i have never been out of cairo. or at least the vicinity. no one knew the true reason of this expedition. "welcome." i said in my entrancing voice. i addressed the group that formed around me. "Welcome," i said to (intriguess need your name) your expertise are greatly needed." i picked up a shopping bag, it contained clothing for each of the individuals. they needed good boots, and light clothing. i handed it to her. "the bathrooms are to the right, change into these." she walked off, a bit stunned. "how delightfull to meet you in person robert. " i began to speak to him in the old egyptian dialect that was supposed to be dead. informing him that the bag i held in front of him was also for him. i turned towards devlyn. the rich girl who is actually funding my trip, or i should say her daddy is. "devlyn, love, welcome. " i handed her the bag. "probably not of your high taste but it will have to do." i turned to see blore. "Blore, " i nodded in his direction. "i see your camel is well suited." i laughed. "and as you told me before you have tyhe right garments for the trip." i offered him my hand. i had given each of my guests a light cotton shirt, suited for man or woman. various colors. and khaki shorts. boots. and socks. the rest of their supplies and their 'rides' were outside. "do you mind escorting me blore?" i referred to the door, and where my hired guide vincent was waiting. outside the airport six well-trained camels were waiting, bottles of water at their sides, blankets and dried food, a sleeping bag, and first aid kits were hoisted on their sides, the camels used for riding had small loads. i myself, had a black horse, one to match my firey temper. one i have used for thousands of expeditions around cairo. unpractical? yes, but reliable, always. she knew the way and i have had her forever. i had an extra camel attached my reigns to the saddle of my horse. three extra camels were loaded with supplies for camping, two with water and one food, and six for archeological devices. as my guests all entered the arid heat of the landing field. i smiled. "now that you are all settled, i better explain myself. this expedition is secret, no other soul knows about it, i hope you kept your end of the bargain. if anyone is going to back out back out now. the extreme heat and fatigue are the least fo your worries. you will have to work. but ...i do guarantee the most exhilerating experience of your life. these..." i motioned to their camels. "are your best friends for the next six months or longer. treat them well. you have all of your supplies taken care of. we will have all of the camels and equipment loaded onto transport vehicles. we are going south east of the nile. we are inspecting the rumor of the ruins of the great unknown queen of egypt. we depart in twenty minutes."

a name

Violet DeWinter, changed into the light cotton shirt in a odd shade of mauve, and khaki shorts which i felt were too short for my taste, eyeing my curvy legs extended from them. i put my boots back on and laced them up rearranging my personal items in the various pockets, and threw my jacket back on with my various charts, notebooks, magnifying glass, compass and so forth. I headed back out happy to see a few others I recognized. I groaned, why in world was she here i thought? Devlyn Aria Fallon Skye Wynters, that pretentious silly half wit, who thought this would be a lark. With more names and money than common sense, I had heard rumors that she found danger by stumbling into it. i introduced myself to the men, shaking hands before arranging my stuff on camel and waiting. Glancing at watch every so often

not really rolland!

just join in, we need another tour guide...lol...a native to go tramping along....south WEST egypt...i made that error earlier. but........join in. as WHATEVER YOU WANT. we can easily fit you in so much in the beginning. i hope you do join in.

Robert Phoenix

Dressed now in his white shirt and khaki shorts, Robert loaded all his equipment aboard the transport vehicle. His books made up the main part--treaties by famous acheologues, but also some compilations he had written himself. To it all he added a case of pens and notebooks...and one of his old companions: A staff, about as high as himelf, made from stout wood. It had markings and thus was ideal for measuring, it could be used to explore some inaccessible corners...and at a pinch, it was a weapon which he wielded with some skill.
Robert regarded his camel with some mixed feelings. On a sudden impulse, he named it Djed, and Old Egyptian word for 'stability', hoping that it would be an omen for the animal's behaviour.
Turning around, Robert saw Violet DeWinter. His eyes went to her shapely legs for the fraction of a second, before he turned his gaze to her face, chiding himself. It was not exactly an improvement though, for the woman's delicate face was at the moment bearing a heavy scowl.
"Something wrong, Miss, uh, DeWinter, was it?"

Violet DeWinter

My scowl turns to tightlipped expression before I take a deep breath at the question, "Sorry Robert isn't it? I just hate Skye Winters, after an old acquaintance asked if we were related. I try to keep my distance. It's good to have someone knowledgable about," eyeing the mass of books, "You know a book of concise notes takes up a lot less space then your library. Then again having a photographic memory helps. The students at the university hate me for my complete recall of information about any art work."

ooc: I had a better idea for a Char, An Old Campagner, A Vereran Archiologist Who is the authority On this sort of thing, Coming along for observation and Autherization..Sound good?

Blore grabbed his pack. His dress, of tan clothes, making him almost indescrepible against the desert sand (is that a word? Well if it isn't, I just made a new word up). He took out two shotguns, and placed them both in sheath's on the side of the camel. He grabbed a few Colt 6 shooters, placing them in various places around his body and the camel.
"You getting ready for war Blore?"
He smiled back, "Yep."
His voice was dark and cruel.
"Blore, stop scaring them. I am sorry everyone, Blore is our.... protection, a weapons expert."
Blore took Lava's hand, and kissed it generously, "That I am. I apologize for my frankness, but I am a little on edge. No one has ever visited this place, and lived to tell about it."
Lava giggled, "Thats cause no one has ever visited it."
He growled, "Just ruin my story, why don't you."
The crowd laughed, Blore did too. He liked keeping the troops light, especially when there were so many weapons around.
Blore took out a long cutlass, (it's a sword...) it's side glistened on the sun's light. He sheathed it, taking out a saber, and a broadsword. He loved the way these felt in his hand. They were his prized poccessions, he found them while excavating an ancient egyptian tomb, and they are still as strong today, as they were the day they were forged.
"Well," he said, sheathing the saber in it's guard on the camel (so many prepositions), "Let's be off."
"Agreed."

Dev

I took the bag, went to the restroom and quickly changed into a light blue cotton shirt and khaki shorts. I kept my reliable brown hiking boots and dark brown socks on. Twisting my hair into a tight easy braid, I fluff out my bangs and grin at my mirror reflection. I look hot. Literally and figuratively. I never was one to sweat delicately. Ever a tomboy, I've always had my share of scraps and bruises.

Everyone thinks I'm a complete airhead. I scoff slightly beneath my breath. Well, let them. It's a long grown cover to keep away those who wanted to get to know me for my family's money rather than for myself. I learn more this way and relax in a way that those who are way too serious never can.

A short sigh escapes when I recall Violet DeWinter. Gods, this is gonna to be a pain in the ass. She hates me. With a mental shrug, I brush it all away. That's the general impression I make. They'll see soon enough what I can do.

I grin confidently. I didn't get all those degrees and experience by being truly stupid!

Leaving the restroom with my clothes folded over one arm, I return to the baggage man who is really a bodyguard sent by Daddy. I beam at him and speak quickly in classic Italian, "Rafe, put my permenant luggage in the hotel and hand me my travel packs. Stay at the hotel and watch over my things. I don't want you to follow me on this trip. And if Daddy wonders why you're not with me, well... tell me I tied you up and left you hanging."

My only answer is a very disgruntled sigh and mumbles that I can't quite understand. Grinning, I kiss Rafe on the cheek and take the many bags that he starts to hand me. I cheerfully turn towards the group and yell, "Can someone help me? I need to get my bags on my camel."

As everybody seemed to arive, and have there camels loaded, i took one of the extra camels, and loaded on my stuff, and went over to lava, "so, were exactly do you wish to go?" she couldn't see my face do to my cloak i had on. "oh yes, i don't know if you had any cloaks, so i brought some extras, just in case of any hard wind, you wouldn't want your skin and meat ripped right off the bone, atleast i wouldn't" i laughed a bit and handed her a thicker white one than the one i carried, and several others to the ones who didn't seem to have one. I put in my dagger and my sword and shotgun on my camel. I motioned to a older man that was beside me who had his own camel "this is (rolland's name here) he is a friend of mine, and a great and yet old archeologist, and he will be of great help to you, so...i don't mind if i have him with me?" lava shook her head, "good, and thank you." i motion for him to join us and he shakes hands with lava and rest of them.

"i can see you are also quite caustious, i am vincent, nice to meet you" I said to blore, he smiled and said "hi im blore, yeah well, you never know whats going on" lava handed me a copy of the map, i looked at it..."wow, i never thought that we would be going to this...i am quite glad you chose me to be your guide to it." i looked over to her, i took off my hood, showing that i wasn't egyptian, and i was quite hansome at that, ( ;) ) "now are we ready" i checked and saw everybody had all there stuff on and ready to go "well, lets get this camping trip started!"

(sorry holiday had me busy)

after everyone sort of assembled themselves. i did a head count, everyone was there, including a new member. we did have enough food, but i didn't have time to research him. i hoped that blore was as trustworthy as always. i smiled knowingly at blore as he was up to the same old as always. blore and i had a thing before, but have remained somewhat 'business' partners and excellent friends, keeping each other out of trouble. but what intrigued me was the smile and the flash of eyes of the guide man, vincent. "now that you are all here, and ready, your final warning. although my good friend is armed to the teeth, trouble still exists. i implore you to consider this. " i smiled, trying not to show the complete and udder seriousness of this trip. i needed them all and didn't want to scare them away. i took the dust robe and threw it over the back of my horse, (need help with it's name, ) "load em up." i pulled off my jacket revealing nicely toned arms, caramel in their tanned color and feminine shoulders. "we start our expedition through those trees, it is going to take us three days to get to the desert alone, and about two weeks to get through the main desert. mount your camels now, we have to get going, we have waisted enough time." i rode my horse up to vincent. my camel in tow. "i thought i would introduce myself more personally." i raised a dark arched eyebrow.

Robert Phoenix

As they mounted their camels, Robert replied to DeWinter's remark
"Ah, but you see, while some people's minds can really absorb everything but the tiniest, flimsiest details--it might be exactly those details that are needed. And as for a short compilation, well, you'd have to know exactly what will be needed. This expedition is a mystery in more than one way, and I'll feel more comfortable with a shield of knowledge between me and the unknown." Robert smiled apologetically. "Sorry...I've been told my metaphors can become somewhat annoying, but I can't help it..."

violet dewinter

i shook my head, "Anticipating what's needed is half the fun, but it's good to have a pack rat along. I'm sure you'll come up with the obscure detail when needed." I mounted up and smiled my eyes roving over his body, not bad I thought. Considering the tight quarters we'd be keeping he might be good for the lonely nights.

Ooc: How many times do I have to be your ex boyfriend Lava? LOL, we always seem to end up there... not that I am complaining mind you. Of course not, perish the thought.

Blore arched his back against the cruel sun. Only a few more hours, then nightfall would come. Blore had wanted to travel a few miles in the night, but Lava knew these parts, it was best to build up a defense, and protect yourself from mauraders or other such raiders.
Blore withdrew his curved saber, polishing it. The sun's rays glinted off it's finished end. He put it back, setting at another sword.
His camel leaped into the air. Blore grabbed the rains, and pulled back. The camel obeyed, still being quite spooked.
Blore looked down at a cobra. He smiled, they were quite deadly, but very delicious.
He aimed the blade with deadly precision. The cobra fell limp. Blore leapt off the camel, grabbing his prize. He stuffed it inside a pouch, waiting for later to skin and eat the tasty morsel. He breathed in deeply, somehow the desert air didn't seem so bad now.
He moved on.

Lava came over to me on her horse, she smiled and said "i thought i would introduce myself personally" i lent out the palm of my hand and she handed me her hand, i kissed the top of it, and told her "it is quiet an honor to work with you on this trip, i hope you find what you wanted" i smile at her raised eye brow, "i would be careful of your horse too, are you sure you wish to ride it instead of a camel? it is more likely that it would become food, than something to ride on" i looked up at her with a slight smile.

um.....

(this is an occurance before? i don't quite remember, or maybe im just not thinking, but hey, i needed someone to have common grounds with. hope you don't mind, i can edit it if you like.)

i watched his lips as they touched my hand. i was mesmerized. i stared at vincent. i raised my eyebrow in carefull warning after his remark, "Lucky," i gave him a look of irony. " has been with me on all of my expeditions. she has fared better than most of the camels. i don't think i have anything to worry about," i smiled, probably for the first time in weeks. "you sir, better watch your step." i said as i saw the cobra the instant that blore's camel jumped, i pushed vincent back a bit, my arm going across his stomach as i unsheathed my knife and grabed it by the tip, ready to aim and throw, but of course, blore was a step ahead of me. i resheathed it at my ankle and quickly withdrew my arm, "sorry." i said a bit embarassed, im sure he knew what he was doing, and i was being a ninny. "overprotective. i should let you do your job." we had just entered the lush area of egypts southwest side. the man in the car behind us stopped and quickly motioned to unload the rest of the equipment, very quickly, he said quickly in egyptian, "we go no further. no more, we do not go through the jungle." his eyes were wild, almost fearfull. "vincent, if i may be informal and call you vincent, your resume was impressive, i hope you know this area well, the jungle, i mean, i am sure i informed you we were going through this area. the men won't go anyfurther." the men unloaded the rest of the equipment and literally sped away as fast as they could.

Ooc: No... no, I am your ex boyfriend damnit... I am the guy you come crawling back to when you are drunk and lonely, lol, yeah!

Blore looked at the pile of junk, and sighed heavily. He was glad he had brought so many camels, but still this would slow them down. The last thing they needed was to wait for the supplies.
He started grabbing the extra camels, and loading them up. The sun just about dripped into the eastern sky. He wiped the sweat from his brow.
"Lava," he called. She glanced back at him. He pointed to the sun.
"We need to set up camp for the night. I am eager to go as much as you, but we need to stop for the night."
She smiled, and pointed at her ear. She hadn't heard a word. Blore raced his camel to her.
"We need to stop for the night."
"Night?" she looked at the sky, "Oh, I had lost track of time. Yes, set up camp, we will eat, get a good night's sleep and be ready by dawn."
Blore smiled, his kind of woman, if only...
He shook the thoughts from his head, "Good idea."
He started making the arrangements, and Lava went back to talking with the guide.
(I hate it when you are talking to someone, and another person butts in, so I am putting you right back where you started... lol)
By the time the sun left it's hazy sky, a roaring fire was set. Dinner was being made, especially Blore's recent catch, snake meat.
Life in the desert.

lava

(since my dear vincent didn't answer my last post, i'll just say we exchange shy glances.)

i knew blore was right, he always was. i wonder if....no. i told myself no everytime, and that was often. good heavens that man drove me crazy. i hoped off lucky and patted her butt. giving her the signal to make her way to the tree. i quickly unbuckled her saddle and saw the irritation, looks like i would have to ride bareback. "i'll leave you now sir, i advise you to wash up now, before it gets dark."
lucky went off, tagging the camel behind her. i parted with vincent giving him a lingering look. i walked over to blore, he was standing over the big tarp covered heap, held together by ropes. "we need to get rid of some of this." i said, startling him, i lifted up my hair, trying to relieve some of the uncomfortable heat. i dropped my hair and let it fall over my shoulders and put my hands on my hips . i smiled meekly at him, "well we better get started." i withdrew my knife after attempting to undo the knot and quickly sliced through it, returning my knife to it's holder at my ankle. "patience lava, was never your virtue." i smiled at him. "i know." i opened the tarp, displaying the vast array of distress. "i think we will have to take everyone's packs and give them to them to wear, and as for that extra holding tank, their is one or two camels that are free. that box of equipment can be put on my camel, and the extra junk that somehow got int here, can just be left here, until we get back."
