I support the legalization of recreational marijuana. As more states make it legal, physicians are expressing concerns about the potential adverse health effects. I feel marijuana should be used responsibly. I think it should be restricted to people 18 years and older. Of course there should be sensible regulations and taxes. Driving while impaired should be a serious offense. But I feel the doctors calling out the dangers are hypocritical in the sense that our most dangerous drugs by factors of 10's(at least) are the legal ones. All "illegal drugs" COMBINED don't come anywhere near the morbidity and mortality associated with alcohol and tobacco. That includes heroin. If we were evaluating tobacco an alcohol, what would doctors say about them? I also believe readily available recreational cannabis would have a positive effect on the opiod epidemic. Marijuana is pretty available even now,I don't think there's going to be a HUGE increase in its usage after legalization. Maybe at first. Bottom line;the adverse health effects are over-stated especially compared to alcohol and tobacco.

Is it true that AJ takes out his anger at being impotent on his adopted daughter? Surely someone's called child services by now. :(

Physicians are more concerned with the adverse effect it will have on their kickbacks from the Pharma Co's, not the health of their patients. If that were the case, they wouldn't be prescribing opoids like candy and would most likely prescribe canniboids instead. The Medical INDUSTRY is a business, and when something threatens the profitability of the business..of course, practitioners are going to go on the war path.

I agree with everything you've expressed here, except, much like when Prohibition was repealed, usage skyrockets once it's legal. There are ALWAYS going to be people who abuse just about anything...however, I believe the majority are not going to stay stoned out of their mind 18 hours a day like some people no doubt will.

Agreed.

It is helpful to many people

It reduces inflammation, anxiety, stress, pain, aids sleep, and many more.
It helps with appetite for people with certain intestinal disorders.
It can help people to take only one pain pill a day, then not have to take the other two or so and have to live with all the negative side effects of the pills. MMJ lets you skip those and relax your muscles and vanquish your pain with little or no side effects, especially if you use Indica or CBD dominant products as opposed to Sativa and THC, which is the kind that stoners like to get high.

I hope that the USA will someday legalize it enough to do some real testing and research on it's effects, good and bad. I know there's more good than bad.

What does taxing it add to the equation besides making it more expensive?

Of course there should be sensible regulations and taxes.

The major problem is define “sensible” .

Like with taxes, beyond the standard sales tax what is reasonable? What is over controlling? And what is a good ol fashion money grab?

I am not sure what the legal age should be for lighting up but I do think to minimize the damage a person should be fully developed mentally and physically.

Back in the day we didn't know any better nor cared.

We do now.

Someday, Congress will be filled with old potheads instead of old drunks.

Sounds like a tobacco commercial from the 50s.
This is from someone who thinks it should be legalized, but only upon the basic idea that each individual should be free to make their own choices. Don't impose a choice upon any individual based upon something as specious as "good for you."

Grow your own.

It is not difficult.

Even if you're high.

I use CBD products for pain and stress relief and they work great for me. To be honest, I'm not for using marijuana for recreational purposes as it can lead to increase of drug abuse. But if it is already legal, it is important to inform people about the proper weed measurements. This information can help marijuana users to avoid getting in a trouble.

You're some kind of moron, arent you?

So how can I safely use marijuana without becoming a heroin addict or a crack addict?

There are zero peer reviewed studies that prove what you just said.

There are dozens that show Doctor prescribed opiate prescriptions for treating pain have lead to drug addiction, and abuse.

Let’s not legalize marijuana until we all have self-driving cars. There are far too many stoned drivers on the roads as it is.

It has been legal here for just over a year, no increase in impaired driving due to pot. There was an uptick over alcohol though.

Willie Nelson is 86.

I rest my case.

'I'll never smoke weed with Willie again' makes me laugh every time I hear it.

Has arguably the greatest line of any song ever written in human history...

In the fetal position with drool on my chin, I messed up and smoked weed with Willie again.

That plays several times a day in our dive bar. Great lyrics.

I don't think it is wise

While there are very likely many medical advantages from many forms of plant life the use of any drug for entertainment seems unwise to me. Anything that puts the brain at risk is foolish. That being said, it should not be up to anyone other than you when it comes to your deciding what to put in your adult body. The very idea that the government gets to decide if it should or should not be legal or illegal is absurd. Why should anyone have control over what someone else decides to do with their mind and body? On the other hand if they cause a fatal accident due to driving while under the influence then they should be removed from society. Perhaps being sent to the island of the stoned.
