I have wondered, since first seeing Oggbashan's nick, what the reference was. Too lazy, I didn't go looking for it and, atheist that I am, the source from which it is derived is mostly unfamiliar to me, so little chance of my knowing it off the top of my head.

But I was going through the Os of Carol Rose's "Giants, Monsters & Dragons" this afternoon. Having read the entry, I do wonder, is it only when he's excited that things get so...big?

Og of Bashan
"...a giant in the rabbinical and Hebrew texts and scriptures...also known as Hapalit, meaning the "Escapee" (from his delivery from the Flood) ... described as having mulitple fingers and toes and being such an immense being that the waters only lapped his ankles. In other accounts [he conned Noah and later] tried to secude Sarah, the wife of Noah. Exiled and ostracized by the Jewish people, he put every obstacle in their way [until] Yahweh [sent stinging ants upon him and was] chopped at the ankles and felled by Moses. The fallen giant became the mountain range from which they viewed the Promised Land." (Umm...which butt cheek would that be?]

Og is a wonderful man. A horny gentleman, if ever I did come across one. I mean that in the most affectionate way.

He is indeed a King, and I am one of his loyal subjects. ;)

History is written by the winners...

And they are economical with the truth. But of course the Bible is true.

Of course I escaped the flood. I helped launch the Ark but Noah was ungrateful. He said my toenails scraped his paint when I kick-started the Ark.

When I was finally killed I was getting senile. I could only manage about thirty concubines a day and I was losing my appetite. Two oxen for lunch would have been a mid-morning snack in my prime.

I've been dead a long time and my bones have turned to a large pile of dust in the Bekaa valley.

Somehow I seem to have re-animated my shade as a large Englishman who sometimes thinks he's Henry VIII. He must have delusions of grandeur.

Just be careful what you do with Og's cake. I don't want it in my mush!

Hmmm... then again... ;)

Cake is away for re-frosting.

Costume is being renovated for next year's appearance. This time I will have space for a six-pack built into the padding.

Where can I buy beer suitable for diabetics?

Yes - If you can get there:

Dover Pageant 2005

They require more performers. No sure how scantily dressed Red Indians would fit into Dover's history but I'm sure the organiser would try to find a link.

As King Henry VIII I am too distinctive to appear as anyone but myself. Most of the other performers have several parts and have to perform quick changes in a tent.

;)

Got room for a little one? I never had any complaints on my performance, and may well have Red Indian blood in me. More to the point I like Dover, I spent a week there last year. Sorry I missed you, Ogg. I did see a couple of women that were wearing what looked like cream sponges on their head. Would they be relations perchance? :)

No. I have no real connection with Dover except as a performer. My relations are spread everywhere except Dover.

But your website and biographical details contradict that statement.

You are not lazy - just different.

There are several legends about Og in Jewish sources and a few myths. His bed was enormous. He survived the Flood by riding on the roof of the Ark and ate all the creatures that are only known as fossils.

Yes, I ate the Mammoth, all the dinosaurs etc.

Someone had to be blamed and since I'm dead I'm a good candidate for the blame.
