Jay stood against the wall of the bank watching the people pass by. She had just run away from home and hopefully she would not be caught if she moved fast enough. She ran full speed down the dark alley way. It was ages before she reached another street. Along it was a park. She ran across the practically deserted street and took cover underneath a large oak tree. She sat panting as she looked around at her suroundings.

OOC: Sorry you guys. This thread is kinda closed now until I decide to add other people as the story progresses.

Martin "Marty" Milner:

It was a lovely spring night. I'd finished the day's work at my computer consulting firm and decided a nice jog in the park would be a good way to unwind, slough off the stress of the day before going out to eat.

A quick change into shorts, running shoes and a t-shirt and I walked over to the park across the street from my townhouse condo.

Once in the park I went though the obligatory stretching exercises, did some calesthenics and a kata or three and started off on the paths through the park.

The park was normally a safe place to be at night, but there are always exceptions to every rule so I stayed alert and hoped my fit 6'1", 180# physique would stave off any potential problems that could crop up.

As I rounded a turn on the path I noticed a figure huddled under an oak tree and slowed a bit. Just being cautious in case they weren't alone.

IC:

Jay, flicked a strand of her long black hair over her shoulder and looked around. There were were hardly any people. Jay thought back to the reason why she left home. She strted to cry. As she wiped her tears away with the back of her hand she realised that she had smudged her eyeliner.

"Shit. God I look like a freak."

Marty:

As I approach the area of the tree I can hear the sound of a female crying. When I'm closer I can see her wiping her face.

I'm a considerate and caring person so I can't just go and leave her she may be injured. Still being cautious in case she was just a lure I approached and said quietly, "Are you alright miss?"

IC:
Jay turns around as she hears a voice. Great she thinks. Now everyone can see what a freak I am. Her stomach plummets as she raises a tair stained face to look up at the man. She tries to stifle her sobs that are erupting from her chest causing her voice to sound strangled.

"I'm fine."

She turns towards the tree then breaks down again. She tries to stop herself but she can't help it. Her face now a complete mess she turns to face him again.

"I'm not fine. I've...I've just...ruined everything..."

She slumps to the ground starts cries some more.

Marty:

This is to obviously real distress for a 'lure' so I squat down, after another look around, and rest a hand on her heaving shoulder.

"Ruined everything? What could a lovely young lady like you have ruined? It can't be sooo bad that you have to cry like this," I say trying to comfort her.

Jay looked up at the man as she diried her tears with her sleeve.

"Man. You must think I look like a total idiot. And I'm not a lady anything else is fine."

Marty:

He looks you over and grins, "Well I have a feeling you're more a lady than a gentleman from what I can see, at least I damned sure hope so.
"Now what's wrong? Can I help you in some way?
"Oh, by the way, my name is Martin Milner, Marty will do just fine."

Jay smiles at his words but replies in a rather sarcastic way.

"I think you would be helping if you actually got my mum and dad out of prison. That would be helping a lot."

She then realised what it must have sounded to the stranger. She lowered her gaze to stare at the ground.

"Sorry. I've just been under pressure. I only need somewhere to stay but I'm sure I can manage on my own."

Marty:

'Out of prison,' he thinks to himself, 'that'll need explaining later on.'

"You don't have a place to stay? Where are your things? You know clothes and things?
"If you want you can at least have something to eat at my place and we can talk. Perhaps something can be arranged so you aren't sleeping on the street."

She hits herself in the forehead.

"Damn! I forgot everything!"

In her hurry to get out of the house she had left everything and had only the clothes she was in now and a few dollars in her coat pocket.

"OK, but I think I will have to get you to buy me some...um...clothes. These are the only ones I've got."

She spread her arms to reveal a black tank top and long skirt under a trench coat. She blushes.

"I know they're not great. I'm not exactly what you would call rich."

"Well a lovely body like yours should only be covered by clothing when it's necessary to go out of the house anyway.
"Would you care to come home with me for dinner?
"By the way, what's your name? I can't be calling you 'hey you' you know. Sound tooo tacky," he says with a grin.

Jay

Jay smiles. She can't help it.

"Yeah. OK. I'm starving. Oh, yeah. My name's Jay."

Her face now a total mess, she attempts to wipe off the the black splodges that was her mascara and eyeliner but only made it worse by smearing it on her cheek. She swore to herself. Could anything get worse? So her mum and dad's in prison, sha ran away from home, she looks a mess...stc. Jay feels like she wants to die.

Marty:

When you agree to come to his place Marty stands and offers you his hand to help you to your feet. An oak root causes Jay to stumble foward against Marty and his arms go around her to catch her so she doesn't fall. This brings them into chest to chest contact.

He stops for a moment or two then smiles down in to her eyes and steps back, "Got your balance now? If so we go this way."

He takes her hand leading her across the park rather than going along the foot path.

She laughs awkwardly and follows Marty across the park. She felt much better now and she almost wondered to herself why she had made such a fuss over hardly anything at all.

"Is your house far?"

"Not at all. Just across the park and then across the street. What's "Jay" short for or did your folks want a boy?" he asks with a chuckle to let you know he's joking.

Marty:

"OKay, then Jay it is. I thought it might be a nickname for Jaquline or Jasmine or may Jane." he says as you continue to walk hand in hand.

"Are you out of school or still going Jay?" he asks as you both reach the path on the other side of the park where he's begun his run.

Jay shakes her head.

"I'm outta school...It's just I didn't wanna go to College or Uni. I didn't see the point...If you know what I mean."

Marty:

"I do understand. I have a couple of people who work for me that didn't go to college. They were computer wiz's by the time they got out of high school so I hired them for what they could do not for any degree that just shows that they attended, but not necessarily what they'd learned."

He leads you across the street and up the short sidewalk to the door of his townhouse as he talking.

Jay

Jay nods. She runs her fingers through her hair as she tries to think. Well...What the hell. What harm could anybody do to her?

Marty:

"Come on inside Jay."

Once inside he leads you upstairs into a bedroom and opens one of the doors there.

"Here's the bathroom. Why don't you take a shower while I try and find you something to wear Jay.
"Are you extremely modest and shy? Do I have to find something that will cover you from neck to feet?"

Jay

Jay shakes her head.

"No...I'm usually fine with anything."

She walks into the bathroom. She says before closing the door.

"Thank you so much, I dunno what I would've done without you."

Jay closes the door and strips off her clothes. She turnes on the tap and waits for it to fill."
