Yup, I saw the future today, and it was . . . interesting. Took my daughter to the Shedd Aquarium, where we found out they were showing Spongebob Squarepants in 4-D!

What is 4-D you may ask? Well, there was the traditional 3-D with the glasses, but add to that the experience of stage lighting throughout the theater, a fan blowing on the back of your neck at various points, vibrating chairs (making Spongebob getting shocked by a jelly fish truly interesting), bubble makers, something weird poking you in the back to simulate a collision and, last but not least, getting sprayed by water when a fish exploded on the screen. Although I'm not sure if I could have survived 2 hours of it, I have to say it was well worth $4 each for a 15 minute movie (even though the plot sucked). I want to see Transformers in 4-D!!!

Oh, I didn't even think of that. Strike Transformers, I want to see Debbie Does Dallas in 4-D! :nana:

Ya think they might show 'Behind The Green Door' that way? :D
I'm wondering if the water in the face part would freak some people out?

Price of admission: 25 cents and proof of an erection.

Only the prudes who thought the movie was about global warming . . . .

It would be a mandatory performance for all of humanity!

Have to type slow, band-aid on finger.

Spongebob... sigh... what a waste to technology.
But...he's squishy and stuff. And square. Or rectangular. People like square and rectangular objects which happen to be sponges that talk, right?

Al Gore and Melissa Etheridge would be forcibly strapped to their chairs...
(Because everything is about global warming, don'tcha know?)

He's a lot of things... entertaining isn't one of them though. ;)

Maybe it should be Spongegeorge Bushpants, then . . . :p

Oh, of course . . . EVERYTHING is about global warming . . .

Are they calling it 4D?

Since the fourth dimension is duration, I hope all movies have that one, or else they'd be damn short.

But still. Kinetic cinema. Yeah.

You've already seen the proof . . . ;)

And held it, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh!!!

I have no response.

Edited to add: Yes, I do!

If I was holding you, there'd be no mistaking it!

You know you're chomping at the bit to have that experience, Liar.
Can you hear the clink of the metal on teeth? Feel a horse-tail smacking you in the mouth?
Damn good stuff.

Which is why I remember it . . . .

That reminds me, I hadn't even considered the bondage angle. That could be a whole new set of interesting movie experiences. Any volunteers to help with building the FX?

They've got a 4d cinema in Busch Gardens. I didn't quite know what they meant by 4d, until the sailor in the movie I was seeing spat out his drink, and it coincided with water being sprayed into my face.

It was gross, and I don't even want to think of the porn possibilities with that one! :p
